A Very Rare Occasion.
Here's something you don't hear often in Titan's Tower: Ruth Morgenstern sounds angry.

"31 - 17 is just embarrassing! And for crying out loud, nine years in a row?"

The Mids have beaten the Knights, you see. Again. It's one of the only football games that matters to Ruth that doesn't involve Jay playing.

As her blood pressure rises, she eventually repeats a few verses of "A Little Kingdom I Possess" in her head, and soothes herself. Still. Vexing.

	Ty can't help but notice. Most of the time, Ruth is a nice, calming influence - especially during his period of mourning. Most of the time lately, he just tries to bury himself in work. This, however, draws him out. Ruth, are you alright? (Reply to this)(Thread)

	Yeah. We usually watch it as a family at home. Me and my parents and sisters and Jay. But today just wasn't a good day for going back, with finals and all. I'm surprised I can't hear dad and Clara complaining from here, though, she manages to joke. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Its....complicated. She was a princess, with responsibilities and all. She failed at her mission, and the Star Sapphire took her over - they didn't give their wielders much choice back then. So is she, but she also said that it was for the best, if she hadn't been exiled, she wouldn't have stayed here. When I figure out some of the warp physics equations though, I'm going to build a ship so she can take a vacation out among the stars though. It won't be back home, but aside from buying her a house, its one of the big reasons I wanted to work for S.T.A.R.

	I don't think anyone would mind if you did. You might need to explain some of it though. We will probably go out walking, watch them light up the tree in the square at nightfall, then go see Christmas lights. Do you and your family do anything particular on Christmas Eve? Its good, for diner food. More importantly, it was an affordable Christmas dinner for two when we only had a tiny little apartment kitchen and no one to invite over, particularly. And its only a few blocks from the apartment, right on the route home. We went there the first time when I was four, and my legs were getting tired. It kind of became part of the tradition.

	Its hard to say. I don't think burying myself in work is exactly healthy, but its the only thing that feels at all safe. Thankfully, forgetting to eat or sleep isn't a problem. Not doing well... but I'm trying. Not safe to be anywhere chaotic very long though. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

She's not good at it. Former Star Sapphires have a lot going for them, but calm and collected isn't any of them. She was the one who told me I had to leave in the first place - she was right, it was too dangerous, something bad was going to happen eventually. Home is also a very small apartment in a big city - there isn't space, relative solitude when assassins aren't attacking, or a fully functional lab like there is here.
