[Private]Stupid Death Eaters will stop at nothing. Did they really think I would fall for such an obvious trick? Well...they'll just have to try harder if they want to kill me. Really...a secret meeting with a woman? Ha! That's the oldest trick in the book. And using a muggle card to throw me off their scent? Very tricky, but I wasn't fooled. I know how their kind thinks. Probably imperioed some unwitting muggle to get it for them, then killed the poor bastard.[/Private]

I got a suspicious delivery on the fourteenth. Luckily, I was not fooled and destroyed it with a well placed hex.

My aurors need to learn from that. Do not trust your mail. You never know when someone might be trying to kill you or lure you into a trap.

A deadly late Valentine?

Quite possibly. It was disguised as a note from a secret admirer. Asked me to meet her somewhere, obviously an attempt to get me alone and kill me. Any woman who was really interested in me would know not to be suspicious and secretive.

You are the cleverest man in all the land, Auror Moody.

Don't you have better things to do than kiss my arse, Booth? Like your job, for example?

Can't get a date, can't take sarcasm--- Yessir!

Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. Shut the hell up, Booth.

You would think that he does, but no.

And really, when he has an arse as gorgeous as yours to focus on, one wonders why he spends so much time kissing mine.

Perhaps a lack of foresight and the fact that my lab is down the hall.

We may never know.

I often wonder what you see in him. I would think you'd be more interested in someone with a fully functioning brain.

It's pity, isn't it? Charity? Your good deed for the year?

Oh, he has his good points.

Now, he's no tall and strapping Quidditch player with flowing golden curls, but I did agree to marry him.

That would be taking pity a bit far, I think.

You're right. He does. Sometimes he is quiet. Sometimes he leaves. Very good points.

Tall, strapping Quidditch player with flowing golden curls? Well, at least now we all know what you're actually thinking about when you're shagging. Thank you for that.

That is true. But then Ms. Evans took pity to the point of marriage with Mr. Potter, so it is possible.

Oh, but Mr. Potter is quite the catch. Very much seeing the appeal.

And I was referring more to my half of the date Erin and I purchased. Quite the looker, but Booth's more my type.

Now, now, Avis. Don't go giving the boy a bigger head than he already has. Besides, I know Mrs. Potter. She hears you talking like that, she might claw your eyes out. She's a feisty one.

Of course you are. Wink, wink. We'll tell Booth that's how it is.

I can't say I'm much for younger men anyway, so she ought to know he's safe.

You can tell him whatever you like. He's so cute when he's worked up.

I'm sure Booth will be pleased to know that.

That was more than I needed to know, Tremaine.

Oh, but if I were Booth telling you about me, it wouldn't be.

I do believe that's sexist, Moody.

Not at all, Tremaine.

I just prefer not to think of any of my aurors, male or female, having sex lives.

Don't be an idiot, Longbottom. You just need to perform a series of spells to check for threats. And not trust anonymous letters.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]__frankish
2008-02-21 12:46 am UTC (link)
But what if it's a letter from a distant relative that I've met... oh, say once before but haven't seen for a while and... I am being rushed out the door, therefore almost literally forced to open it at once.

You know, Longbottom, sometimes I really wonder how you make it through the day without someone reminding you of when to breathe. Because you are currently proving that you have all the intelligence of an inbred snail.

An inbred snail? Really.

I thought I'd at least be up to par with an incestuous frog.

Of course, Bones. You never know if someone's been affected by the Imperius curse. It's always better to be cautious.

[info]vigilantauror

Questions like these really do lead me to wonder if the Ministry should instate a minimum intelligence score to become an auror. Of course, all of you would be barred from even entering training were that the case.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]berkelisms
2008-02-21 06:06 am UTC (link)
It's a good question! Various surfaces and materials react differently to some spells, what if it's made of a shiny substance of unknown origin?

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]vigilantauror
2008-02-21 06:23 am UTC (link)
Fine, fine. You're officially more intelligent than Longbottom...not that that's saying much. And if that is the case, either get rid of it or bring it to me and let me handle it.
