After all is said and done....
It had been one of the hardest things that Mar'i had ever had to do, pointing out the faces of the guards that violated her to her cousin. Having Katima by her side helped, though, and made it easier.

She couldn't stay on New Tamaran. There was nothing here for her anymore. Especially after what her aunt had put her and her family through. Mar'i didn't think that she could stay there and not think about what she had been forced to endure everyday.

Mar'i stood there silently with Katima. They had been silent since her cousin had taken the guards away.

Finally, after what seemed like hours, Mar'i spoke up.

"Thank you," she said to Katima, "For staying with me."

"It's nothing that you have to thank me for, Mar'i. I am simply sorry that this was even necessary. Is there anything I can do for you?"

The entire process had been enough to turn Katima's stomach. She didn't just stand there silently and watch as Mar'i pointed out those who had harmed her; she felt the hurt, the shame, the anger, the twisty and dark emotions that roared through the other young woman. It took every bit of Katima's strength not to explode in rage. Now, standing there, she was starting to gain an easier control, but her heart was no less heavy.

Mar'i shook her head. "Your presence here is everything I need," she said, forcing a small smile.

She wanted to lash out and kill every single one of those guards. Make them feel the pain that she did. They had taken something from her. Something that she could never get back. Made her feel dirty.

Mar'i hugged herself tight. She rubbed her arms, until it all came out. The tears poured down her face, and she began to sob, her body shaking.

	The crying was more than Katima could take and she wrapped her arms around Mar'i, holding her close. "You are as bad as your brother when it comes to lying," she said softly as she petted Mar'i's hair. "You're going to be fine. I promise. No one will harm you like this again." 	Mar'i leaned into Katima, tears pouring down her face. She'd tried to stay strong. She really did. But she just couldn't keep it all in anymore. She had to let everything out. "They did things to me," she said into between sobs, "Made me feel so dirty." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"I know." Katima gently smoothed Mar'i's hair and held the younger girl close and tight. "But you aren't dirty. The things they did were to your body. Not to your soul. You are pure and clean and safe and whole. Those that stole from you will be punished. You, however, are beautiful and without blame. You are not dirty, Mar'i. Not at all."
