Burning the midnight oil
David normally didn't fuss about anything. He was a very stable kid. Nothing got to him and he didn't have any problems.

That was at least how he acted. But he did have problems. Sometimes he had nightmares. He had no idea what he should do about this thing with Rachel, Starbridge, and Torn Ear. He also had become aware that his little secret was becoming more of an issue. It kind of pissed him off.

He just wanted to be a normal guy. Like that was ever going to happen though. No matter how much Misha and Rose wanted things to be normal for him David was just as much aware that things just wouldn't ever be that way.

Which might be why he was in one of the studies right now late at night. Sleep was not happening when he could feel that restless streak taking hold. Especially when he was trying to work things out in his head and fighting to calm his nerves.

Yeah, not happening. David's zen master like state of mind was just not returning right now. Joy. It was Uncle Hank's chili, he swears to God.

	Chris enters the study, laden down with a bag of fabric and a small sewing machine. "Hey David, what's up?" She sets up on one of the unused tables. She had an idea for something fairly simple she wanted to get done, and was out of space due to a more demanding project taking up her table, that she'd rather not pack up. Thus, the study. 	"Huh?" He looks up. He was still grumpy. And lost in his strange line of thinking. "Oh nothing. Can't sleep." If he didn't have things to do he was normally in bed by eleven thirty or so. "Well." He thinks about it and shrugs.

"Some guys seem uh.... Interesting. Kind of like how I dig Rachel. But it's not like I feel like I should go out of my way for them or anything." He gives a puzzled and confused shrug. "They're interesting in a way I know isn't strictly friendship."

He isn't about to say his captain has stood at attention but Chris should get the idea. And it's obvious David is uncomfortable with this. He doesn't normally talk a whole lot.

He blinks at her. "I always had the impression you preferred girls. It never really bothered me because well, I have a huge 'whatever' attitude towards what people do or want. It doesn't really register as something I should directly concern myself with since people should do what they want."

That was also a lot to say. He simply shrugs. "Some guys on TV I'm aware I find.... visually pleasing. But I'm more of a personality guy. I like people who are interesting more than people I'd hit on because they look good to me."

He lets that sink in for a moment. "Does that make sense?"

"Not anyone here. And... semi-frequently." He isn't about to go into details about his 'personal' moments.

"But maybe. I've certainly given it serious thought when I'm sure I can have my thoughts to myself. That's a very private thing I'm not willing to share. Especially with the .... Weird thing Rachel has with Starbridge, myself, and Torn Ear. I know for certain Rachel interests me more than a guy would currently.... And I suppose I'm afraid that my so called manhood would come into question if I came out."

After all, look at Misha and his father. It would certainly startle people.

	Chris gives him a firm but caring gaze. "David." She walks over and puts a hand on his shoulder. "I want you to listen to me. Whoever you are interested in has nothing to do with how manly you are. Thankfully David is the one Logan who is easy to get back to earth. He blinks and relaxes.

"Still. This isn't... Easy. Everyone seems to want me to be the normal guy. Rose and Misha the most but--"He shakes his head. "Normal ain't in the cards for me. The fact my sexuality seems to be as flexible as I am, 'cause nothing actually phases me just makes it glaringly obvious to me."

He doesn't get why they think 'normal' would be safe anyways.

	Mina herself had had odd dreams, of fire and pain and some kind of purple giant, but they had passed when she'd woken. A brief midnight workout in the gym later, and she'd decided to hear back to her room. She paused by the study door when she noticed David. "David?" she asked. "What're you doing up?"
