Characters: Mack & Hunter.
Setting: Bluebell Town.
Content: SFW [Language].
Summary: BFFs apartment hunting together.

Hunter was sure of only a couple of things. That she was nervous, which was becoming an annoyingly familiar sensation as Michi got further and further along and everything became more real, and secondly, that she was sure she could handle this with or without nervousness attached. It had been an idea that she and Mack had been mulling over for a while now, probably since Christmas when they realized they both had technically homeless girlfriends that they probably couldn't take home.

Then Sera had gone and come to her senses, and gotten herself vacated from her house too. Kate wouldn't mind a crowd for things like Christmas, and the Dubinsky house was pretty huge, but she had a feeling that her surrogate mother would only take so much. Five lesbians and a baby was probably pushing their luck, even if Monkey turned out to be a quiet kiddo. Which she doubted anyway.

They needed their own place, all of them, and there was really no time like the present. Winter break was coming, and though she sort of wanted to visit Texas for a bit still, honestly she had to say that it would be nice to have a place all their own. Even if she had to share it with Mack and Tatum, and even if Sera did something gay like set up a home office in the living room, it would still be their place. It was a feeling of freedom that Hunter couldn't wait for.

She and Mack had come into Bluebell to look at one of the three-bedrooms in Leland's building, wanting to get a look at things before they bothered to bring the girls out. They had been to Le's enough, and this all looked basically the same, just a bit bigger. Squeezing five girls and a kid into the place might present a tough squeeze, but the tall blonde had no doubts that they would sort things out.

They had gotten the landlord to leave them alone to poke around for a few minutes, after they had gotten a brief building tour. He was a short little wizard who kept looking at them like he wasn't sure if he knew or liked what their deal was, but both she and Mack had made sure to make a big deal of their auror credentials. It was sort of the best thing they had going for them, as far as impressing adults went. He at least seemed less sketched out by the pair of them once he knew what jobs they had. Or rather, would have. She supposed she was counting her eggs before they hatched a bit.

"What d'you think bout this one here?" Hunter called, from half inside of one of the bedrooms. There was a nice double window in there, just a bit dusty as she dragged her finger along the pane of glass. It would need some cleaning up, but she really liked the place so far. "This could be for you and your little ginger-knut. Y'all could stuff her right in the closet, look how big the thing is!"

Mackenzie had been a bit skeptical when Hunter had initially introduced her to the idea of getting their own place. It concerned the shorter blonde highly how gung-ho the taller girl was. Living in an apartment off campus was different then living in the dorms. Instead of a slap on the wrist from Sato, any kind of eccentric Hunter incident would cost them money and possibly their home. She couldn't lie and say she wouldn't like it though. As sappy as it sounded, she couldn't wait to do mundane little house keeping things with Tatum.

So far, she thought that the whole visit could have gone a lot worse. Hunter seemed to be on her best behavior, hell, she almost seemed like a respectable human being! Mack had been careful to reassure the short wizard showing them the unit of their reliability, especially Hunters. Now that they were alone, Mack felt her shoulders relax a little bit. It was a nice place, she had always thought Le's place was pretty cozy. It wasn't too expensive either, something that she supposed mattered.

She had been spacing out, debating on sending pictures to Tatum when Hunter addressed her. The little redhead had been down ever since the party at her parents house, and Mack wanted to find a place that she could be truly home. It was like the tree house, just for her and Tatum. "Oh fuck off, you ass," Mack scolded, shooting Hunter a glare. The big closet would be nice though, she did have a lot of clothing. "She ain't gonna need to be in the closet anymore. That's the point of us getting an apartment!"

Joining Hunter at the window, she couldn't help but let a small smile take the place of the glare on her face. "I like it, it could use some work, but I like it." She looked over at Hunter, a rare look of intimacy that spoke of the true depth of their friendship crossing her face. "It just needs some new curtains, right?" There had been a similar conversation when they had found their tree house. Mack couldn't think of anyone she would want to share her first apartment with, and now, they had people who loved them to share it with too.

"Take a joke! I was kiddin'.. I know she don't gotta live in the closet no more. I was jus' saying y'know.. in case she gets homesick, she can hop in!" Hunter shot back easily, laughing a little as the shorter blonde stepped up to her other side. Their view from the window wasn't exactly spectacular, but curtains would definitely fix it up.

Cracking a slow smile, she nodded at her friend. "Me too, I likes a challenge.. y'know, a fixer-upper. It's good enough, just gotta make it look more.. like, chicky. For the chicks. They like their stuff all neat and pretty an' shit," she explained, reaching up toward the empty curtain rod.

"Yeah, we'll get some real nice curtains for in here. Maybe some Pokey-mans or whatever your little girlfriend likes.. or like, Sailor Moon or whatever."

"Asshole," Mack muttered again, still glaring.

"Yeah!" Mack agreed, turning away from the window. She surveyed the empty room, envisioning her and Tatum's posters covering the walls. They could get a bigger dresser, one that they could share. Maybe a matching bed frame as well, it could be really nice. Mack wasn't bit on interior decorating, but she would do anything to make this place home. "We could paint some of the walls, get some real nice furniture, maybe even some real nice art?"

She punched Hunter in the arm at the mention of Pokemon. "Hey! Fuck off! It's Pokemon dick! And it's a really good game." She blamed Tatum entirely for her last comment. The younger girl had somehow convinced her to buy a DS and get several of the stupid games. Mack hadn't thought she would like it but now she could barelyl put it down. Hunter had walked into her shared room with Tatum several times to find Mack in the heat of an intense gym battle.

"We'll have to see what kind of furniture and bedspread we get," she added lamely, trying to divert attention away from their last topic. "Chicks like to match all that stuff, it's gotta all tie in."

"Art? Well, ain't we fancy.. that's what you get for goin' steady with one of those highfalutin New England girls," Hunter scoffed, shaking her head a bit, though she did step forward to take a better look around of her own. "Paint would be nice though, I hate white walls.. makes ya think of like, prison, don't it?"

She chewed her lip a little bit, before speaking again. "Yeah though, nice furniture.. fix it up real good. We shouldn't let 'em see it till it's done. That'd be pretty cool, get Le to help us out.. well, y'know, force Le to help us out. Maybe ask li'l sister too, she don't gotta be surprised.. gotta make her earn her keep in this establishment an' all. I was thinkin' maybe we don't make her pay any rent, since she's jus' a kid and she's only gonna be here sometimes.. she jus' gotta do the cleaning up for us, like a proper little French maid! Think she'll go for it?"

Wincing as Mack punched her, Hunter scowled and punched the shorter girl back harder. "It's gay! Silly li'l Japanese monsters an' shit.. talkin' bout laser beams and electric shocks an' shit. It's weird, but hey. I never thought I'd see you hookin' up with a nerd who liked the stuff anyway, so I seen weirder now!" she laughed, grinning at her friend. "Do y'all pet her Peekaboo or whatever that things called?"

She smirked at Mack's excuse, giving the other blonde a shove before heading for the door and back out into the hall again. "Whatever man! It's all gonna be gravy, even if she makes you get Pokeyman bedsheets to match.. I bet you'll still be able to get it up," she joked. Poking her head into the next room, which was the smallest of the three bedrooms in the apartment, Hunter squinted around a little. "Y'all think this is big enough for a kid? Monkey's gonna like it, right?"
