Scott!
He felt like a giant jerk, a terrible boyfriend, and a horrible...father. Vinny wasn't really sure how well he was going to adapt to that last title, but he knew he wouldn't be able to figure out his role in Victoria and Ava's life if he kept hiding away. He was a loyal and true Hufflepuff, damn it! He needed to apologize to Victoria and spoil the hell out of Ava to make her like him again. She had always liked him.

Vinny hoped the flowers and balloons would be enough to satisfy the girls, for the moment. Merlin, he really hoped Victoria wasn't too hurt by his fleeing, but it seemed to be a trend in his life. He completely fled the country after Marlie because he couldn't handle the change, the depression, so---so he'd come back, this time. For good, he believed. But she could always just tell him to get the hell out, but then! He was Ava's guardian by law! She couldn't keep him from seeing the baby, so there was at least that---

The bit of fire that swelled up in his chest at the thought of being kept away from Ava cemented the idea in Vinny's head that he was going to be this little girl's father. Okay, okay, good. He knocked on Victoria's door and was surprised to have it open so quickly, but not by his girlfriend.

"Who the hell are you?"

Scott had seen Victoria's boyfriend enough during their time in Moose Jaw to know who he was, but apparently Vinny hadn't recognized him from the throng of Cadwalladers that normally frequented their games. Good, that was just great. At this point and time, Scott was not at all happy with this guy.

"Who the hell am I?" He crossed his arms over his chest with a huff, hoping to puff himself out and look a bit more intimidating. His buff physique was one of the few things he could use to his advantage when it came to talking to other people, after all. He wasn't terribly smart, and his sense of humour was not well-received by people, but he was strong.

For a moment he considered whether telling this guy that he was Victoria's new and child-supporting boyfriend would be worth the backlash that he'd get from his sister for it. He was fiercely protective of her, after all, and maybe it would do this Gudgeon fellow a little good to feel jealous about something. He'd deal with the fallout from this later, once his sister was back from her playdate with Ava. Truth be told, he was relieved to see his sister taking the initiative with the little girl. He was getting a bit worn-out giving her all those piggyback rides, even if she was pretty light. It was more the hair-yanking and rib-kicking that was tiring him out.

"What does it matter to you who I am? I'm in Vikki's apartment, that should give you a big clue."

"I'm her boyfriend, that's what it matters," Vinny snapped quickly, his anger rising quickly at the idea of Victoria having another bloke in her flat when she had Ava. He looked over the man's shoulders, his shock causing him not to notice his strange accent. "Is she here? Where is she?"

Vinny really did not think he should have to answer to this complete stranger, but it wasn't as if he wanted to throw a punch at a bloke in the middle of his girlfriend's flat. That would make reconciling with her much harder than he initially anticipated, and it could also scare the life out of Ava, the other girl he needed to impress. So this guy better give him some answers, because the rest of the evening depended on how quickly his temper was tested.

And he usually didn't have a temper! Bloke just caught him at a bad time.

"Oh, sure. Now you're worried about her, what? Because it's a convenient time for you?" He scoffed, not moving out of the doorway or budging his arms an inch. Sure, with his feminine lips he had a hard time looking angry ... he ended up looking more like a pouty trout when he tried.

"Well, too bad for you -- she's not here. And neither is Ava. They're both out." And he wasn't going to tell Vinny where they were in case he felt like storming out of the flat and trying to find them in the park. That would just cause a scene, and he was sure his sister would kill him if that happened (or her agent would, either way).

"Excuse me? You don't know anything about---" Vinny shook his head, not sure why he'd wasted so much time talking to this random, strange bloke. All he managed to do was rile himself up and that was not how he had wanted to go into this. Gleny had reminded him that he'd always wished to be a father and have a family, and maybe this wasn't the way he planned it, but it was the way fate had handed it to him.

Fate seemed to like doing that to him, smacking big sudden life-changing events into his face like the bloody Hogwarts Express.

He was a former head boy and a Goddamn good Hufflepuff, so this punk was not going to have the affect on him that he so obviously wished, "Fine," Vinny said, forcing a grin at this idiot and moving to stand against the wall opposite of Victoria's door. The balloons and flowers would be fine, and she'd have to come back sometime, yeah? "I'll wait for her, then."

So Vinny wasn't going to fall into his little ploy. That was for the best, he supposed, since he didn't have to actually go out and lie to the other man. That meant that his sister couldn't technically murder him based on the fact that he'd lied to her boyfriend. Scott smirked, then, moving to lean against the door frame with one elbow for a moment.

"You might be waiting a while, then. Hope you don't have to use the crapper, man." And with that, he closed the door in the other man's face. He could chill out and watch TV until Victoria came home; she probably wouldn't fault him for making her boyfriend wait out in the hallway for a while. After all, she wasn't entirely pleased with Vinny right now either.
