Patrick! (November 1981)
Oh, oh, oooh.

She hadn't wanted to say anything until she was absolutely sure, but with Emily standing over her and awkwardly 'holding mommy's hair while she creatively processed her breakfast', Patrick wasn't going to be able to be kept in the dark for much longer. She had just managed to get things in order for the pregnancy test potion before she'd gotten sick.

Patrick was still asleep, naturally, and Emily had wanted to come in and help her mommy with the problem she was having.

"Uuugh," she groaned, resting her forehead against the toilet seat and suddenly wondering if children weren't a slightly-less-useful version of those house elves that all the purebloods raved about. Even though her stomach was churning and she was not at all feeling well, she couldn't help but almost hope the test was positive. It wasn't as if -- well, she'd stopped taking the potion (with Patrick's knowledge, of course) a few months ago, because they'd decided that if children happened it wouldn't be terrible.

After all, nothing could be worse than her first pregnancy's circumstances, right?

The potion started to fizz and bubble a bright orange colour, and Lyssandra couldn't hide her grin ... until Emily managed to get her tiny fingers around the vial and attempt to drink it.

Lyssandra squeaked, immediately grabbing for the potion and spilling most of its contents on both of them.

Merlin, she hoped this stuff wasn't toxic.

Patrick Vance would like to make sure that everyone knows he has been the absolute perfect husband and father to Lyssandra and Emily (respectively, of course). He was doing a far better job than any of his friends or family had ever imagined he would as a married man, hell, most people were still shocked that he'd decided to take the plunge! So he loved to acknowledge how good of a job he was doing, when he could, and that he earned himself a few extra hours of sleep once in a while.

Really, though, Patrick may have been more overwhelming than perfect, since Lyssandra's disappearance. Part of him still could not shake that he was part of the reason she had been kidnapped, seeing as any future children he had with her would ruin the Vance's pureblood line for good. Not that he cared, but he knew that the death eaters did and----it was still quite hard to remember that You-Know-Who had been defeated more than two weeks ago.

The squeals from across the house jolted him out of his sleep and Patrick was caught within the sheets before he managed to slide out of bed. They didn't sound like pain-induced squeaks, and living with two girls had given him quite the skill in telling random bits of noise apart. Patrick made his way to the sounds, a confused look coming over his face as his ears led him to the bathroom.

"Ew--what is that?" he commented, his nose scrunching up in disgust at the sight of Lyssandra and Emily on the floor, covered in something and smelling like vomit.

"Oh," she scoffed, flushing the loo and grabbing Emily up into her arms so she could set her into the bathtub while she peeled out of her own goo-covered shirt, "you know. Finger-painting on the cabinets with caustic orange muck. This is what we always do before you wake up on your days off." Lyssandra couldn't help the slight smirk that crossed her lips. She opened the medicine cabinet and took out a large flask of mouthwash, swigging a good amount of it and then spitting it into the sink.

She was no good at lying, particularly to her husband - she had realized this rather quickly upon the two of them living together. It was good in some situations, but in these kinds - it just made her look foolish, she thought. She ran her hand over the back of her neck and then tried to catch Patrick's gaze.

"Uh, but seriously. I didn't want to you worry until it was absolutely certain." By now he probably thought she was going to announce she'd contracted some sort of terminal disease, "But. We're pregnant. Er, well. I'm pregnant." At least this time she knew a little about what to expect.

His mind didn't even have time to formulate some sort of panic, because he was immediately struck by the word 'pregnant.' Pregnant! Lyssandra was pregnant? How'd that happen? Patrick blinked furiously, trying to calm his not frantically running around thoughts because he could not have heard her right! Pregnant! She was pregnant! With his baby? Of course it was his! They were married! She was his wife! He was her husband!

Before he tumbled ungracefully to the ground in shock, Patrick stumbled toward the toilet and plopped down, staring at Lyssandra in shock. This was both terrifying and absolutely amazing at the same time. He'd never thought he'd be a dad---well----with Emily, he was her dad because he was taking care of her and raising her right and playing teacups but---he helped make a baby? That was completely----

"Holy-----" One quick glance toward Emily in the bathtub kept Patrick from finishing that sentence. "Holy---smokes!"

Lyssandra couldn't help the grin that spread over her lips. Well, it could always be worse. He hadn't run away and he hadn't outright denied it was possible they were going to have a baby and done something silly like -- like accused her of cheating on him, so that was a good sign. She half-smiled, reaching out to touch his arm lightly just so that he wouldn't pass out.

"Yeah---that about sums it up." She glanced over to Emily in the bathtub, who had begun fitfully trying to divest herself of the smelly, orange-goo-covered clothes she was still wearing. Lyssandra clicked her tongue and then stepped over to help her peel out of them while she started a bath.

"I imagine your sisters are going to go crazy, aren't they."
