Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Sometimes I forget how much I miss being home and how quiet it is here. Well, quiet is relative when I go into town with all the tourists flocking here for a few days before heading across the channel, but I've gotten as used to it as I can over the years. It was almost clear enough to see France today - I tried to take pictures though, unfortunately, I couldn't zoom in close enough to get a clear shot. Perhaps another day when there's less clouds and less wind. I also need to remember to bring gloves; it's not too terribly cold (not like at Hogwarts, anyway), but the wind is what really does it.

Dad doesn't know I found out, but apparently he's getting me a cat for Christmas, one that I can take back to school with me.

I am thinking that me with a French backdrop would be the perfect backdrop for a holiday card to send out to family and friends. What do you think?

What will you name the cat?

I'm not sure what to think. Are you inviting yourself over and commissioning me to take your picture again?

Good question. I have a few ideas, but you can't really name a pet until you've seen it, can you?

Hey, it has to work one of these days. You can't let a face like this go to waste, can you? Just pretend that's true.

Good point. It needs a name based off it's characteristics.

You're forgetting one minor thing though. I'm not very good at taking pictures of people. Now, if you transfigure yourself into some animal or plant, I might be able to get a good quality shot!

Exactly. Though, I really, really hope it's a white one. If so, it might get the name snowball.

How about if I turn myself into the best looking bowl of cherries that you had ever seen? That could work!

And if it's an all black one you can name it Midnight.

Now that would be almost too tempting and will make me hungry. But, fine, if you don't mind the pictures not being as good as maybe someone else can do, I'll do it.

That's not a bad idea. What if it's gray?

Yeah, then you could eat me cherry by cherry and I would exist no longer. Practice makes perfect. I am a master of practice.

Hm. Cloud, maybe?

Give me another few months and I could just as easily pop over there. But I agree with you, I would like to go again.

Is home really where the heart is? Or whatever that saying happens to be.

Do you know what it looks like at all?

In my case it is, but probably not for others. I guess it depends? I don't know.

Not at all and I hate the fact that there are still a few days until Christmas. I was just telling Michael that I hope it's white though.

The thing I've found is, even when it seems quiet, it never is. There's always something going on that you can hear, if you just listen.

Anyway. Where is your hometown?

When I do that, all I hear is the ocean and the clock ticking back and forth. Semi-quiet then, and there's nothing wrong with it.

Dover. I live about ten minutes from the beach.

Every creak, every whisper of noise? It makes my imagination run a bit too far, I have to admit.

I know Dover, sure. My uncle and aunt took me there when he had a conference once. I got to stay in the car, so I can say with certaintly that it is a very fine parking lot you lot have there.

You have an overactive imagination.

We have quite a few very fine parking lots, actually! And there's more to see than just the interior of a car. You should come down here one day and just stand on the cliffs. It's fun.

I've seen what goes bump in the nig A guy's got to keep himself occupied, right?

You know, I have always wanted to see the White Cliffs of Dover. I saw them in a cartoon when I was young with - some dog. Snoopy? Anyway, you know, that might be a good day trip, disapparate down there and check out the scenery. Are you around the whole time?

I suppose, though you seem like the sort who doesn't have to keep yourself occupied with you friends around and all the Quidditch you play.

Really? I don't really watch telly, so I'm sorry, but I have no idea who or what it is. Usually I'm around, but don't you want to make that trip with your friends?

Well - at night, you can hear a lot of things. If I could find a way to play Quidditch at midnight, I would. That's not a bad idea. Good training!

You're one of my friends - though, it might be odd to spend time without our mutual pal, The Squid. I don't know if we can survive without him, hmm.
