Take your top 10 bands/artists (either favorite or most often listened to. I'm using my top 20 from lastFM), and give elaborate. Favorite track? Favorite album? Seen them live? How many times? Why do you like this band/artist?
1. In Flames- 1,114 plays
Favorite Track: My Sweet Shadow, off of the Soundtrack To Your Escape album Favorite Album: Whoracle Live: Once. April 24th, I believe, at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA Why I like them: I find this really odd peace when I listen to them, especially their later stuff. Despite all the heaviness, the melody and the kind of tortured tone in Anders' voice are beautiful, in a way. Musically, they're one of the most talented bands around, especially Dan, the drummer. I first got into the band in high school, when the bass player in my old band showed me the Reroute To Remain album, and I've basically been hooked ever since. I would love to see them live again. They put on such an energetic show, and it's such an incredible, breathtaking experience.
2. Buckethead- 763 plays
Favorite Track: Nottingham Lace, off of the Enter The Chicken album Favorite Album: Pepper's Ghost Live: God, I would love to see him live. Why I like him: I've never heard anyone play the guitar like he does. Sure, Jimmy Page and Hendrix and all of them were great, but I don't think anyone can do what Buckethead does with a guitar. He's produced some of the most beautiful guitar solos I've ever heard.
3. Metallica- 622 plays
Favorite Track: Master of Puppets, off of the album of the same name Favorite Album: Master of Puppets Live: If you read my article from like, 2 weeks ago, you'd know that it was the greatest concert I've ever been to. Why I like them: They're the first metal band I ever listened to. Their music has gotten me through so much in my life, and I have such a strong bond with their music. It takes me to places in my mind that I don't often visit, and it just makes me happy listening to them. I'm proud to call them my favorite band of all time.
4. The Doors- 505 plays
Favorite Track: Break On Through, off of The Doors album Favorite Album: L.A. Woman Live: Before my time. I would like to see Riders on the Storm, though, which is the rest of the band with a new singer playing Doors songs. Why I like them: I grew up listening to them. My mom played them alot when I was a kid, so it kind of grew on me. I wound up picking all their albums out her record collection when I was like, 15, and listened to them all back to back. I've gotten drunk to their music, I've gotten high to their music, and it's always an incredible experience. Andrew and I always wind up singing either Break On Through or Light My Fire while we stumble around New Rochelle, drunk off our asses. Good times.
5. Pagoda- 490 plays
Favorite Track: Botus. Or Lesson Learned. Dead tie on that one Favorite Album: Pagoda Live: Nope. I was close to going, but wound up not. Sadly. Why I like them: I love the sound of the band. The cello on some tracks makes for a very unique listening experience, and the band's usually very emotional in their songs. Michael Pitt's a great frontman.
6. Dethklok- 475 plays
Favorite Track- Go Into The Water Favorite Album: The Dethalbum Live: Noooooo! I really want to see them live. Why I like them: First of all, the tv show is amazing. I love the music because it's sheer power and aggression. Even if most of the songs are technically jokes. The skill and precision of all instruments involved is almost scary. For being a cartoon writer/voice actor, Brendan Small is an incredible guitarist.
7. Aesop Rock- 464 plays
Favorite Track: Daylight Favorite Album: Labor Days Live: Nope. Want to. Why I like him: I love underground rap, and in my opinion, Aes Rock is at the top of the list. He's witty, intelligent, precise, and incredibly talented. Check out No Regrets off of the Labor Days album for an incredible life story compressed into 3-4 minutes.
8. Lonely Island- 407 plays (all in the last 4 days LOL)
Favorite Track: Oh god, I don't think I can pick one. Favorite Album: Incredibad, duh. Live: WOULD BE AMAZING Why I like them: They're fucking hysterical. Even though they're joke MCs, the way they just roll with it, and take it so srsly at times is admirable. Did I mention they're hilarious. Cuz they are.
9. God Is An Astronaut- 398 plays
Favorite Track: Sunrise In Aries Favorite Album: God Is An Astronaut Live: No Why I Like them: They're simply amazing. I love ambient, instrumental music. It always puts me in a really peaceful state of mind listening to them.
10. Ensiferum- 352 plays
Favorite Track: One More Magic Potion Favorite Album: Victory Songs Live: Was close to seeing them, but didn't have the money. Why I like them: FOLK METAL IS BADASS! That's seriously all I have to say about them. They're amazing. Kinda phoned it in at the end there lol. I'm too bored to really do anything.
