Father-Daughter Time
Avery followed the directions from his GPS to the mansion, not sure what he was expecting. The place was huge, he knew, but what he could see from the gate was....epic. There really wasn't another world for it.

He'd called ahead to let Sydney and Zoey know he'd be coming, but he still wasn't sure what to expect when he pulled up to the front gate. He didn't see any dragons or, heavens forbid, any Mongolian Death Worms, but one never knew with these types, did they?

He just hoped Zoey was still interested in being around him even after all the awesome she was currently surrounded with.

Sydney was strangely calm about this. Avery was going to pick Zoey up and take her out for the afternoon. A million different thoughts had run through her mind all morning, but now that it was close to the time he should be here she was calm. Of course not having anything weird (normal for them) happen around the place this morning had also helped. The natives weren't restless and there were no disasters to deal with.

"Zoey, make sure you have your cell phone," she reminded her daughter before the gate buzzer rang. She checked the monitor and when she saw that it was Avery, she pressed the button to open the gate. "He's here," she called out.

Avery waited at the front door, ready to meet the first Defender he came across head-on. He's not going to be awestruck or mystified by them, at least not any more than normal.

When Zoey opens the door, Avery smiles brightly at her, but is surprised by the dogs and the tiger.

"Zoey, sweetie...there's a tiger behind you." he says, not certain how or why they've domesticated a jungle animal. He's torn between fear and intrigue.

	"He won't bite." To demonstrate Zoey wrapped her arms around the tiger's neck and scratched behind his ears. The tiger had a look of pure pleasure on his face. "Take me to your leader." he says, speaking in alien monotone for a moment as he follows Zoey. He still can't get over the tiger not trying to eat the girl, but maybe this Halbjorn guy knows how to train a tiger.

I'll make sure to call him when I need my tiger trained. Avery thinks.

Avery sees Sydney and offers her a smile. "Hello. So...are you sure there are no Mongolian Death Worms around? We've got tigers already, and there's at least one flying horse on the premises, right?" he asks.

	He smiles, watching Zoey run out of the room, then looks back to Sydney. "Okay, so Zoey and I are going to have lunch, then see 'How to Train Your Dragon'.If there's time, I may take her to the park, and then bring you home an exhausted six-year old." he says. 	Around that time Aridis pokes her head in. "Sydney. Doth thou know where there ist some more of that pie Lady Sarah baked earlier today?" Aridis is in the mood for a snack. 	Avery is about to dispute Sydney's assertion of Zoey's endurance when the new face wanders in. He offers the woman a smile, but notices her speech pattern immediately. 	Avery and Zoey arrive at Mama's Pizzeria and he gets a table for the two of them along with Zoey's favorite drink. They also order pizza for her, and a salad for him. When the drinks arrive, Avery decides to make small talk with his daughter. "So, how was your week, Zoey? Did you do anything fun at school?" he asks, taking a sip of his raspberry lemonade.
