The Gryffindor Common Room!
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Sebastian came tearing down the stairs of the Gryffindor Common Room, ducking and dodging as the firecrackers shot past his ears. Almost burning them off, no doubt! The exploded and popped just as he managing to jump onto a couch and duck for cover. There was hollering from all around the room, some students upset because they were trying to study, or have a conversation, or snog, but that only lasted a few seconds as the display of red and gold cheered everyone greatly. It was never a bad time for some House pride, yeah?

He squirmed on the couch, flipping over to stretch across and push his feet into the arm of it. Sebastian's hands went behind his head to give himself more of a pillow, and he watched the fireworks crackle and finally die down. He'd need to go back to Zonko's to refill his batch, and wondered when the next Hogsmeade weekend was, it felt like ages since they'd been allowed out of the castle, but it really must have been only a month.

The boy flipped again, stretching the upper half of his body off the couch to try and read the bulletin board for the Hogsmeade schedule. Sebastian put a hand to the ground to keep him steady, face twisting as he tried to force his vision to be better.

"Oy, when's Hogsmeade?"

MIRANDA 5TH YEAR

To say that Ralph was spying would be incorrect. You couldn't really spy in the middle of a crowed common room, what with being in plain sight and all, and it completely didn't count when what you were looking at was a very obviously staged public display. No one giggled that loudly unless you were looking to catch attention from someone.

Ralph held back a scowl as he watched Benjy Fenwick tickle Miranda with one hand and catch her from running away with the other. Seriously? Did he have no pride? In Ralph's position across the room, half hidden behind a chair, he could easily make snide remarks and disgusted grunts without being overhead by this new... coupling.

Not that he was jealous about it or anything, no. Jealous meant--- jealous meant that he and Miranda were more than an on-again off-again hook up. That they had claims over each other and that just because they were off didn't meant anything. It was fine, she could do whatever she bloody wanted. He wasn't her boyfriend. Ralph actually found that Miranda made feel crazy-- the good and bad ways.

But Ben, on the other hand, better mind his or else he might find some limbs not working so well the next morning. Hissing out another slew of mumbled words, Ralph straightened himself up a little further, his front pressed against the back of the chair. This was ridiculous. He had other things to do with his time than be sickened into vomiting.

"Oy, get a room already!" Ralph spoke loudly, his voice cutting through the room. Just in case Miranda wasn't sure who he was talking to, he made a point to glare at her.

Basically, if that slut Florence Gibbon hadn't been so adamant about Ralph teaching her how to play the guitar out in the courtyard today, Miranda wouldn't have taken up this game with Ben. Florence had just been all over Ralph, and it was really gross, and really slutty, and she's yelled about it to Gillian in the loo and Gillian had listened to her rant, but---her best friend was always the voice of reason, and had quite plainly reminded Miranda that Ralph was not her boyfriend, just the bloke she ended up snogging after quidditch matches and during drunken Hogsmeade weekends.

And sometimes in the common room when mostly everyone had gone up to bed---and in the library because studying was ruddy boring.

Okay whatever! Still didn't give him the right to enjoy being touched and admired and all that rotten business. Florence had a reputation for getting crazy obsessed with her boyfriends and---no! No way! That Hufflepuff skank was not going to steal away her----snogging----buddy!

That did sound a bit ridiculous, didn't it? Gillian had said it earlier, and Miranda had scoffed it away, but...ugh. She was as much of a slut as Florence if she kept messing around with Ralph like she was. So it was either force herself to stop groping him behind tapestries or make him her boyfriend. And she really did not want to stop groping Ralph Merridew at all. Oh, bugger.

His sharp tone made Miranda turn quickly toward him, and she instantly curled her lips at his nasty glare. Excuse him? Did he seriously think he could talk to her like that? Especially in public like this, in front of Ben who was just being friendly and---Miranda had to turn and put her hand to Ben's chest (letting it linger for far more than it should have, she was such a tart sometimes----) to stop him from saying something to Ralph. That was all she needed, right? Blokes fighting over her...even though the thought was slightly appealing.

Miranda decided to take the high road, and instead of shouting back across the common room at Ralph, she crossed her arms tightly and stomped over to him, standing behind his chair with her nose upturned.

"You've got some nerve talking to me like that, Strummer Boy," Miranda snipped, giving his guitar on the floor a slight nudge with her toe.

If it was any other time, Ralph would have looked quite horrified at the sight of Miranda touching his guitar. That was his baby--- not just everyone was allowed to come in contact with it, and she had gone and done exactly that! Her, Miranda, the very girl that was most certainly not allowed to be within two meters of it had gone and--- practically defiled it! Now it had BenandMiranda germs crawling all over it (don't think he hadn't noticed that interaction), ruining it's integrity. It's innocence!

Ralph let out a couple quick huffs, his gaze only shifting away from Miranda's face once to glance down at his guitar. What was her problem? She was the one that had been bumming everyone else out. Not him, he had been minding his own business, genuinely trying to enjoy alone time in peace. "Yeah, well---" Ralph started, his mouth moving quicker than his brain. What had he been planning on saying? His quick remark had been planned prior to her walking over for this very reason, but it was now lost to him.

Damn! He couldn't be the one to start the confrontation and lose it! She was not allowed to distract him with her shiny hair and her pretty smells and--- no! He did not care for any of those things because-- because--- Ralph continued to fumble for a few more seconds before screwing his face up tight. This was the time for action, for getting revenge (for what, exactly, he wasn't sure), and showing off.

"Someone had to say something before you induced the entire Common Room into a nauseated coma," Ralph spoke quickly, and still keeping to his loud tone. Good thing he had the back of this chair as a divider between him and her.

Miranda immediately lashed out, thumping the back of his chair with her fist at Ralph's pathetic excuse. Really? Really? That was all he could come up with? Oh, boo hoo, poor Ralph Merridew with his stupid bright red hair and color-changing eyes. What a ponce! What a bloody toerag! She hadn't done a thing when Florence was commenting on how strong Ralph's arms were, or how lovely his hair looked in the sun. All she'd done is storm away, dragging Gillian with her.

UGH! Boys were just so dumb!

"What's it matter to you?!" she let out, reaching an equally loud tone. It wasn't a strange sight to see, Ralph and Miranda fighting, so she didn't feel at all self-conscious about raising her voice. She was still in the right, she hadn't singled him out at all. It wasn't her fault that he was jealous, or at least, she hoped that he was jealous, because that was the point she was trying to make!

But he didn't have to make it so easy!

"James and Marlie are snogging like rabbits in the other corner, you didn't say anything to them," Miranda pointed out snottily, knowing that she could name at least two other couples that were participating in public displays of affection. Ralph had been glaring at her, and her cheeks couldn't help but redden at the thought of him watching her so closely.
