Who: Timothy Greengrass and Adamina Hooke
What: eeeeeee
When: Today!
Where: wherever we decide they're gonna live
Timothy Greengrass rarely did anything on impulse. He was very methodic in his ways, and when he did feel like being impulsive, his overwhelming pessimistic conscience listed off all the things that could go wrong, and by the time it was finished, the idea was lost and forgotten. But this one idea had been bugging him since the first day on the job, and it was almost two months in the planning. Which was rather impulsive, for Tim. Usually his plots took at least six, and even then he couldn’t build up the courage to go through with them.
Like Adamina. He’d liked her for nearly a year before he started sending her the anonymous owls, and even then it took him another five before telling her (which he hadn’t, she had figured it out herself). Adamina was once again the center of his planning, and was currently blindfolded as he led her up the pathway to a house. Or, well, what was going to be a house. The basement was already built and the frame was up, and the backyard was rather big and Tim knew it wasn’t what she was used to living in, but he was proud of it, he’d worked hard on it and---he couldn’t hide it any longer.
Because, well. If she liked it, then when it was done, they could move in. And maybe get engaged, which would then lead to marriage. And kids, and pets, and getting old, and retiring, and all that stuff he never imagined he’d ever be able to have, or, at least, ever imagined he’d find a girl he’d want to do all of it with.
“Okay. You can take it off now, or do you want me to---” He grinned at the sign one of his coworkers had stuck in the lawn in front of the beginnings of a porch; it read ‘The Greengrasses’ and---oh, maybe he should take that down before she looked---
Adamina and Tim were complete opposites. It was obvious, really, and shown in almost every aspect of the way they worked together, but it just fit. It had been proven again and again through various aspects of life and today would be no different. When Tim had shown up with a blindfold, she had to stop herself from smirking, before muttering a bit of sexual humour. Apparently pointing out that she'd never thought he'd be the kinky sort only caused a blushing and stuttering reaction - something highly amusing, in a pathetic sort of way. With much giggling, she'd let him slip it over her eyes, and waited to be escorted around like a blind woman by one of those silly muggle working dogs.
She stumbled, tripped, and cursed loudly when she stubbed her toe, but she knew it was a rather cute attempt to be romantic and that she could live with. Laughing a bit when they came to a stop, she arched a brow, taking in a deep breath - it smelled like earth and wood and she had no clue what was going on, but she was still unable to stop her giggling, waiting to be told what it was she'd staggered all this way for.
"Oh, I can do it, it's really-." She cut off whatever she was about to babble when her eyes fell on a half built house in the middle of a large field and she was left more or less speechless. A…house? Well, not what she had been expecting in the least. Her forehead wrinkled, her eyes searching around the area, and finally it landed on the sign. "The … Green…?"
It probably clicked all too fast in her head, especially given that they'd just graduated, and had only been dating a little while, but they'd certainly liked each other a lot longer and she knew that Tim - she knew that he was the one for her, that she loved him and if she was right that this was meant as a proposal - a proposal! Ah! - then she already knew her answer as well and-
"YES!" she shrieked, tackling him. "I mean, if there is something to say yes to. I - you're asking me - are you - I mean - if I'm wrong - oh, God, I'm not wrong am I?"
His arms went around her and Tim’s expression over her shoulder was one of shock, confusion, and…relief? Oy, definitely relief, because that meant he wasn’t crazy in thinking that they could get married some---oh. She thought he was---he---was---he’d just proposed, hadn’t he? Not intentionally, but! Stupid, stupid Mark! He’d put the sign in and Tim had laughed but now it had gotten him engaged and Adamina was now questioning it and he stared down at her with wide eyes, his mouth gaping and—
“Y-yes! I mean---yes, I---this was all supposed to…lead up to…that, but I---I didn’t think you’d say yes right…away so…” Tim gulped, one hand leaving her waist and pulling out the chain he had been wearing around his neck. It looked like a pair of dog tags, something he’d explained was a work thing, but with a quick muttering of ‘revelio’ the tags morphed into an engagement ring. It was the one his father proposed to his mother with, and it was a lot smaller than Tim would’ve liked, but his mother had insisted (after prying it out of him that he was indeed set on marrying Adamina) and after thinking about it he reckoned if his father had chosen it then…well, it was good enough for him.
Tim looked down between them for a moment, trying to gather his thoughts. This really wasn’t supposed to be happening, but he had no desire to back out. He looked over to the frame of the house and it wasn’t just that to him. He saw a life that he could make for himself. Living with his mother, just the two of them, for so long, and made it almost impossible to think he’d ever be able to create something of his own, and with Adamina, Tim felt like the possibilities were endless. It was so strange, was it normal for a person to know the exact moment their life changed for the better? For good?
“It was supposed to be…I show you the house, we move in like…mid-September, and I wanted to propose before we opened the first box or…something and…I just wanted it to be perfect, so I---”
He offered her the ring with a smile, putting it between their faces, really. She’d already said yes, but he at least wanted to ask her, since he’d messed up the rest of it.
“Adamina, will you marry me? Some day---whenever you want, I’ll wait…”
Ha, he could wait forever for the answer...which she'd already given him, so Tim just put the ring on her finger and kissed his fiancée soundly.
