WHO: Zach Sloper & Brianna O'Hara (with cameos by Owen & Quinn Sloper)
WHAT: Zach's going away
WHEN: June '78
WHERE: Zach's house
So, Zach was kind of a mixed bag of emotions. He really wanted to go on this trip, because it was Argentina and exciting and going to be one of the best experiences of his life, but, he really didn't want to leave Brianna for six weeks (or more! Quinn was talking about adding an expedition to Cuba at the end of July!) especially not right before her birthday. So, when she'd said she was coming over, Zach had hopped into the shower (because he'd been up since six running around trying to get everything all packed and well there wasn't really time between your mother shouting at you to put some more underwear on the pile and trying to fit that pile into a bag). Everyone seemed to want to have a hand in helping, even Owen, who was flying out with the football team in a week or so, was. Well he wasn't so much helping, but sitting at the foot of his bed and laughing, trying to make his life just that much more difficult.
So when the floo chime went off, Owen shoved Zach, who was currently wrestling with trying to put his shirt on, onto the floor and raced to the living room, Quinn hot on his heels. Zach yelled loudly, stumbling his way down after them. There was a loud crash and some shouting from right outside the living room door and then some cackling as Zach pretty much tripped through the door, managing to catch himself before falling face first into the carpet. He grinned at Brianna, flushed slightly in embarrassment. God his brothers were the worst.
"Uh, hey," he said, fluffing up his hair a little, trying to regain his composure. It didn't help that Quinn and Owen were now poking their heads into the room, smirking dangerously. They weren't bad guys, but their little brother having a girlfriend, definitely left room for teasing. Lots and lots of teasing. "Soooooo, Zachary, who is this pretty little thing," Owen said slyly, coming over and slinging one arm around Zach's shoulders, while Quinn, the tallest of the three, stood off to the other shoulder. "Is this ickle Zachy's lovely little girlfriiiiiiiiiiend?"
Brianna felt a blush creep up the back of her next as Owen and Quinn came up on Zach. Oh--brothers, okay. Well, that made sense, these two had to be his brothers and that's why they were acting like that and saying those things and ugh boys were stupid. She knew that the best thing to do would be to try and act like it didn't bother her, but it was very difficult to do push down what felt like such a searing blush.
"I'm Brianna," she said, and it came out a lot more meekly than she would have liked. Ugh, this is why she had a sister, they weren't half as obnoxious as brothers were. "And I am, except don't call me ickle again or I'll punch you--and if you think I'm joking, you've got another thing coming. My own sister doesn't get a free pass on that word, so my boyfriend's brothers definitely don't." She smirked a little to tell them she was joking (well, not really. She might just hex them, though.) before turning to Zach. "So. Where is this chaotic mess your suitcase has become?"
Zach beamed at Brianna as Owen and Quinn were knocked speechless by her comments. This was why he liked her so much! Owen was the first to recover, messing up Zach's carefully fluffed hair, earning an elbow in the ribs, that started a little scuffle as Zach tried to escape from Owen's clutches. Once he was free, Zach moved to stand behind Brianna, because, well, it was safest.
"Brianna, this is Tweedledee and Tweedledum, otherwise known as Owen and Quinn. Owen's the footballer and Quinn's the brainac and that's all you really need to know except that Owen can't keep a girl to save his life," Zach teased his brother as he reached for Brianna's hand, quickly dragging her out of the room to the sound of Quinn's howling (and annoying) laughter. Once they were at the stairs, Zach shook his head and leaned into give Brianna a quick kiss, "Sorry about the pair of idiots I have for brothers. They haven't met any of my girlfriends since they scared Vivica off with their 'seafood' routine."
Brianna gave Zach's brothers a quick wave and nod in acknowledgement before being swept out of the room--oi, again, she was so glad she didn't have brothers. They were even annoying when they laughed. Oh well, the look on their faces after her comment had been totally worth a little of that annoying laughter--and she was distracted by his kiss, anyway.
"It's fine, I can deal with a couple boys," she said, leaning in to kiss him longer. She didn't particularly care at the moment that they were in his house. She wasn't going to see him for six weeks, she totally had a right to do this.
Zach didn't care either that they were in his house and didn't have any qualms against pressing Brianna against the bannister and kissed her harder. Merlin, six weeks and he'd be stuck with penguins and Quinn and not this. It was probably the worst part of it and- There were catcalls from down the stairs and Zach broke off to shout, "Oh go fuck off you bloody prats!" before tugging Brianna up to his room which was just off the next flight. He pulled her into his room and shut the door before pushing her up against it.
"I have to be honest, I really didn't come to have you pack," Zach said, taking a piece of her hair and twirling it around his finger with a slow smile. His brothers would definitely get the clue now and even then, he was seventeen and could hex the shit out of them. "I'm sorry I'm going to miss your birthday."
Brianna smiled softly and snaked her arms around his middle, tapping her fingers on his back in a pattern, like tapping her fingers on a desktop. "That's good, because I wasn't intending upon doing a whole lot of packing," she admitted impishly, and she moved about an inch to show him exactly what she had been thinking of doing when he spoke again.
Ah, her birthday. Of course she'd thought about it, but she was mildly surprised that he had too. She hadn't been intending upon bring it up, actually... it wouldn't do to ruin his trip by giving him a guilt trip about it and, well, she'd live. Barely, of course, but it wasn't like she didn't have Fiona and Tom to help her celebrate. "It's alright, don't worry about it," she told him reassuringly. "I'll survive."
Zach groaned a little as she moved, barely hearing her next words because Brianna drove him absolutely wild. Even though she made him so angry sometimes he just wanted to throw a book at the wall or something, Zach didn't know how he hadn't figured out this before. Annoying Brianna had been something he just did, like brushing his teeth or eating lunch. Then it had turned into wanting to get her attention and well, did that really matter now that he had her attention?
He really didn't think so. Zach slipped one arm around her waist and pulled her a little closer as he nuzzled her neck a little. Zach had to admit that he really loved when girls looked pretty. It was a piggish thing, but he just liked them pretty and when they got all gussied up, it was great. And it was the little things, he liked. Not all out ball gowns but a little color here or there and a touch of perfume. Even if she wasn't wearing any, Briana was probably his favorite smell in the world. "You smell insanely good today."
She giggled quietly and her lips drew up into a smirk against the skin of his neck. "Bath stuff. It's fantastic--you boys really miss out on some nice stuff being boys," she teased before pressing a light kiss to his neck. She had been intending upon stopping there, but why should she? She wasn't going to see him for a while, so it wasn't as if she just had time to waste. She kissed him again, and a few more times, before trailing her lips across his throat, up his jaw.
Her hands drew lines on his back, getting more intricate the further up she went, only stopping when she went to let her lips linger against his ear. "I'm going to really miss you," she whispered.
Zach shuddered lightly at her fingernails; why was he leaving the country? Why oh why was he leaving when he had this right here in his room? Presently, Zach really didn't have the right mindset to remember what exactly he'd be doing in Argentina, but it really didn't matter, because well, he wasn't there yet and she was here now and somehow Zach's hand had made it up the back of her shirt and was resting on the small of her back.
He had to close his eyes and kiss her hard at her next spoken words because there was really no other response to it. He would miss her too, but if he said that it would come out all soppy and Zach was anything but a soppy fool and she could understand him like this right? Zach wanted to hug her close and not let go. When he did break off, Zach fought with himself for a moment before pulling away and looking at her. Brianna wouldn't spread it around if he got a little soppy right?
Zach bit his lip and said quietly, "I could hold you for a million years and it wouldn't be long enough."
Brianna opened her eyes in surprise. Had Zach just said something... romantic? It hardly seemed possible of him, so her pleased surprise at him saying that only made the feeling of her heart skipping in her chest that much more heightened. His hands on the bare skin of her back burned like fire, but it was a good feeling... Merlin, everything about him felt good. She'd never felt so wonderful in her life as she did now with him.
"Then don't let me go," she said pressing her forehead to his. Brianna stared into his eyes as she loosened the fabric of his shirt out of his trousers with her ever-roaming hands. Maybe this was stupid and fast, but this was what she wanted now. Somehow, she didn't think he'd protest.
Was this-was she- Zach's breath caught a little as she started to pull at his shirt; A million things tried to cram their way into his brain but Zach could only focus on her. He managed to pull out his wand and activate the privacy charm on the wall with a shaky hand before tugging her over to his bed. He managed to trip over his backpack, but landed on the edge of the mattress and pulled her down with a nervous laugh.
Oh, Merlin they were actually going to; and he was kissing her again hard and this was like the best going away birthday present ever and Zach really didn't think it'd be as awesome with anyone else.
