WHO: Davy Gudgeon & Ellie Bell
WHAT: Getting to know each other. Intimately.
WHEN: March '78
WHERE: Library
Davy groaned and let his head drop forward onto the desk, the thunk only muffled by the book his forehead landed on. It was only a week until break but it seemed so far away and with end of term exams this week, the library was so full. All of the private study rooms had been taken up by seventh years and the rest of the school seemed to want to be in the library at that moment. Despite Madam Pince's threats, it still seemed like there was a dull roar and it probably had to do with the headache that had taken residence in his head again even despite the whole working with Professor Sominum. The chair across from him clanked and skidded across the floor as someone pulled it out. It wasn't unusual, because Davy had gotten a single table, alone for once, but since there was no where else to sit, he couldn't very well complain.
He rolled his head over and managed to prop it up on his hand to see who was there and yawned. "Elspeth," Davy greeted, pulling his books closer so she would have a bit of room. "Working on revision?" he asked dryly, before pulling a Quidditch magazine and tossing it in front of her. "Your brother made the front again. Whatever will he do with all his pictures? Does he put them in like a scrapbook?" Davy asked, wondering if Fiona kept all of Vinny's articles in a book for him. That would be kind of fun to look at. Davy kept most of the magazines, but they were all finger smudged because everyone got to look at them. Davy liked showing off how cool Vinny was.
Ellie waved off the magazine comment with one hand. She already knew which one it was--he was her brother after all, and it was so her duty as Pestering Little Sister to Ian Bell to keep up on these things (but only as long as he wished she wouldn't). She'd gotten a hold of all the pictures from that shoot like, weeks ago. "Yeah, I saw--actually, I don't know what he does with them all. Probably burns 'em; hates mags, he does. But it's a good thing with this one, I told him he looked horrible in it. I mean, really, his left's obviously not his best side."
Holding up her finger for a second to motion to Davy to wait a moment, she turned and groped around in her bag for a moment, before pulling out another magazine. The difference was, this was a gossip rag. Elspet tossed it to him and smirked. "See, this is where he shone this week. Look at him making out with that mystery blonde there, see, that's news. Shoots are boring when this kind of stuff is on the shelves."
Davy blinked at her and flipped through the gossip rag, frowning thoughtfully. He really couldn't tell the difference, but if Elspeth said it was true, then it probably was. "Right-o, I'm sure you keep them around just to annoy him," he grinned, sticking the magazine in his bag. Liz would probably want to see it, knowing it was about her and Ian.
"I don't have a little sister so I'll have to take your word on that, but I'm sure I fulfill the annoying and idiotic little brother quota for Vinny so I think I can understand. Not that I willingly try to annoy him, it's just my nature," Davy grinned at her.
Ellie's lips twitched up into an amused smirk. "Of course you don't. I mean, I don't mean to bug Ian so badly, but gosh--you are how you are." Obviously, that was a lie. Actually, if there was one goal she had in life, it was to bug the shit out of her older brother as much as she could. Some told her it was mean, but they obviously hadn't seen his face as he chased her, yelling, through their parents' house as she hugged all his rather incriminating gossip rags to her chest.
Big brothers just made themselves too easy sometimes, really.
"I've noticed Vinny has been staying out of the rags lately," Ellie commented. Not that she really looked for him, but when you searched them all... there was usually at least something. "I guess that's what happens since everyone's all focused on the playoffs now, but still--getting good at hiding, or what?"
Davy nodded, "Yeah, he doesn't really like the press and well, he learned from Fabian's mistake didn't he? Now that he's dating Marlene, he likes to keep things under wraps. Vinny wears those sunglasses, the ones that are charmed and all that," he said, pulling out his own pair of sunglasses. They weren't charmed or anything, but when the light got too bright for his eyes he would put them on and it would help his headaches a bit.
"Plus, his house has the best charms ever. I think the ministry has been over all of it and he paid for the best. Last summer was absolutely insane with all the photographers and, who would have thought they'd be so interested in me and Gladys. It's not like we're all that interesting," he shrugged. Getting chased by photographers out of the pond had been absolutely the worst.
"But at least we weren't called nutters like Fabian's brother," Davy joked lightly.
"My brother's captain, Finn McLaggen--he's a lot like that," she commented. "Well, not so much the protecting a girlfriend part, but he's so anal retentive about keeping his flat all charmed and safe. And he absolutely despises the press; I don't know if I've seen him go out, outside of Quidditch practices or games even once. There's definitely a hot price on his head for the first photographer that can snap one of him doing, well... anything."
Elspeth knew that no one could hide from the press forever, though, and she was just waiting for the moment when Finn slipped up, did something stupid, and got caught at it. Ohhh, no matter what it was, it was going to be the scandal of the year, she knew it.
Davy smirked at the words anal-retentive because that described Vinny to a t. Well, not quite a t, but Davy liked moving things around and annoying Vinny just to hear him complain and huff about the most ridiculous things like the bananas not being hung in their fruit hammock or towels on the floor. That was a relic from the Head Boy days, though, he was pretty sure.
"You know, I think your brother has it right. I mean, they're just going to chase you down anyway, so why try and hide everything? I mean, yeah you can keep the naked shots to yourself and whatnot but like, if they want to take pictures of you going shopping who cares what you've got in your basket? Unless it's something super embarrassing, like nudey mags or something," Davy snickered. Wouldn't that be classic? He could just imagine the shots.
"Exactly! It's so true, I'm telling you!" Ellie exclaimed with a grin, right before being shushed quite loudly by Madam Pince. She winced slightly at the chastisement, and pursed her lips for a moment before turning back to Davy. WHen she continued, her voice was much quieter. "Although I personally don't think that's exactly how Ian takes it. He's just an attention whore, really."
It was so true, it was like Ian lived to be in the mags, to be talked about, even if it wasn't the best type of publicity. And of course he would deny it forever, but she knew that when he finally tackled her to the ground and took the mags away, he went back to his own flat and read them and smirked. Then burned them, probably, 'cause he wasn't without shame for some of the stuff he did, but still. Elspeth knew what he was like, she had grown up around him.
Leaning back and waiting for Madam Pince to finish walking by, Davy stretched his legs out underneath the table, his foot connecting with hers but he didn't move it. The longer legs were still a pain to deal with and it seemed like he'd never get out of the awkward stage that he was in, always forgetting where his feet were or miscalculating a step and tripping on his face. It was much easier flying, Davy thought.
"Attention whore," Davy repeated, snorting and covering his mouth so he didn't get yelled at for laughing. Ellie was really amusing and ahaha, he'd never heard anyone call their sibling an attention whore before. Davy grinned at Ellie as an idea popped in her head. He was pretty sure she wasn't dating anyone right then (and if she was, wow, she'd totally kept it quiet).
He leaned forward and smirked a little more, "Hey Ellie?" he asked in a quiet voice, "D'ya wanna go snog in the potions section? No one ever goes back there."
The was a whole moment of amazement where Elspeth just sat there in silence, taking in the question Davy just asked. First of all, it was way way way super uncalled for and second, it was... ahahaha totally cool, what the heck! She had to give the boy points for originality, 'cause she'd definitely never heard a guy take that approach before, and then bravery because duh--if it was anyone else, he was seriously risking getting smacked in the face.
But the point was that it wasn't anyone else and Davy was being super cute (if forward) about it and he was funny and teehee!
"You sure know how to talk to a girl," Ellie answered with a giggle, an impish grin crossing her features. "Hell yes I do."
Davy was a little surprised when after a long moment of silence when she actually said yes. Hi mouth had been working a little faster than his brain and he'd not been too particularly smooth with that but she said yes so...
He grinned and stood up, taking her hand and linking their fingers together as he led her back to the hidden window by the potions aisle. "Yeah, I know. That's why I don't have a girlfriend and well, frankly it's probably a wonder I don't get slapped more often." Except that he didn't really ask girls out and Ellie was a nice girl, like Gilly, but she wasn't as confusing.
Davy looked around to make sure no one was watching before nudging her up against a shelf, propping one hand on it so when he leaned forward her neck could rest on his forearm. "But you didn't, so..." Davy smiled at her, bumping his nose against hers and looking down into her eyes. Boy was she tiny.
Was it funny that the idea came to her mind that Ian would have a royal fit if he found out she was snogging one of his best friend's cousins? Haaa, no, she decided, because it was funny as hell, and really it didn't matter anyway because she didn't care what Ian thought about it if he ever found out because she was snogging one of his best friend's cousins and that was cool.
"No, I didn't," she replied, finding herself smirking against his lips as they met just a second later. Ellie wasn't exactly apprehensive of just snogging a guy in the back of the library on a whim, by any means. She'd done it before, even though, welllll... she was good at the snogging thing, just not so much all the stuff that came after the snogging. Honestly, the girl'd never had what the general populus would describe as a steady boyfriend.
But that didn't matter now either, because now was snogging and snogging she could do. Elspeth trailed her hands up Davy's chest, snaking them slowly around his neck and pulling him closer as she deepened the kiss with little apprehension at all.
Davy put his hand on her hip and slid it up a little so it rested on the curve of her side, right under her ribcage. He hadn't actually just snogged someone like this, Gilly made him all twisted and confused and Lily. Well that had been a year ago and the thought of that made Davy kiss Ellie a little harder. He was surprised she was going for it all, but just closed his eyes and let her lead him wherever she wanted. He could definitely get used to this.
He shifted his feet a little, sliding one knee between hers and trying not to grin as he pressed against her. Oh, merlin. Vinny was either going to kill him for doing this with Ian's sister (or let Ian kill him instead) or laugh and crow because it was a girl. (Not that Davy cared what Vinny thought about it of course).
Of course Ellie was going for it, this was the kind of thing she loved. It was like one of those stories right out of her teen magazines, one of the ones girls sent in about their dream guys and fantasies and just really amazing and unbelievable moments like this. And obviously, those things usually never happened in real life, so it was like--extra awesome, because one actually had! Heeee, okay, so she was a silly girl, so what? Sue her, she was seventeen for the love of Merlin.
Elspeth tilted her head to give him better access, as the first kiss broke, grazing her teeth on his bottom lip, then going in for another, knowing that had left her with a much easier playing field for her mouth. And that she was taking control, which--well, guys all reacted differently to stuff like that, but Davy didn't seem like the type of guy that needed to prove himself like that.
"Nng," Davy moaned into her mouth as she scraped her teeth across his bottom lip. Oh merlin, he squeezed her side just a little, letting her know that he really liked that. In fact, he really liked her taking a bit of charge. Davy wasn't one to give up all control, but this was nice and she knew what she was doing and it was definitely going to drive him wild.
Davy brought his hand up to loosen her tie, undoing the top few buttons so when the kiss broke again he moved to kiss down her neck, pushing her collar aside. If he was going to give her a hickey, he'd be a gentleman and do it where she could cover it up easily.
Good, she had been right about him, she thought, feeling a small jump of victory--hahah, like, it'd been way too long since she'd snogged a guy in the Library, she had almost forgotten how much fun it was. Maybe, Ellie thought, if things went well... maybe she'd get into the habit of doing it more often.
The Ravenclaw grinned widely, resting her head against the volumes behind her and closing her eyes as she let him do what he was doing. Pheebs was going to freak out when she showed her, it was going to be so classic and heeeeee--Ellie laughed softly, her fingers tightening into fists on his shirt as she arched against him just slightly.
Wow! Davy thought, he needed to ask girls if they just wanted a snog more often if this was the response he got. He groaned again as she moved against him and he slowly moved his hand down back to her waist and untucked just enough of her shirt to slip his fingers into, resting them on her hip. He caressed her skin a little and reveled in the feel. Girls had such nice, soft skin. And smelled really good.
Once he was satisfied with the generously sized mark on her collarbone, Davy moved back up to kiss her again, staring off slow and deepening it little by little. Deep, slow, wet kisses that lasted forever were Davy's favorite, and the kind to get you all worked up while still leaving you a bit satisfied.
They were nice, oh, they were, she thought, raising a hand to the back of his head. She pushed just a little against it while tangling her fingers in his hair--it was nice hair, easy to slip between her fingers and ahhh this was good, he had done this before and it was so obvious.
Elspeth was breathing a little heavier now, and each time she did so, the pressure between them increased, and she could feel even better the heat of his body. That was the best thing about snogging, she thought. She really liked to feel the other person right there against her, it was the best feeling in the world.
The fact that she was so into it and that they were in the library (albeit a rarely used for anything other than snogging part) just made Davy hotter. He pressed against her best he could (she was so short) but she was so tiny she just fit right against him. Davy liked knowing it was him making her breathless and all wound up.
At the point where he absolutely needed to breathe, Davy broke off the kiss but didn't pull away, actually pressing a little closer. "You're so pretty, Ellie," he whispered with a grin into her ear, resting his temple against hers while he caught his breath a little.
Ellie laughed quietly, almost shyly (cause well, how often did you get nice compliments like that?), liking the feel of his hot breath tickling her ear. "That's sweet," she returned, turning her head just enough to form a smile against his neck. "I'd say you're pretty too, but I don't know if that'd be an appropriate return."
She obviously couldn't go very long with making some sort of stupid joke.
Davy laughed lightly and pressed a kiss to her jawline, "You can say that I'm pretty, I'm the prettiest on the Gryffindor team, even more so than Sirius or Marlene." He brought his hand up to run his fingers over her cheek and kissed her again lightly.
He was glad for the joke, because it broke some of the tension and Davy liked that she didn't see this as something so completely serious. He kind of wondered though, if she'd be up for something more or even revisiting this again.
"Well then, Davy Gudgeon, you are without doubt so very, very pretty," she said definitively and with a grin. Elspeth was not about to say that he was prettier than Sirius because with her luck, Phoebe would somehow hear and jump out and smack her upside the head. But she thought it, and that was what counted, really!
Idly, Ellie turned her eyes downward to the watch on her wrist, and groaned when she saw what time it was. "Ugh, I hate to cut this off, but I've got Herbology in five."
Aw, man, Davy groaned mentally but pulled back slowly. He kissed her again for the road and helped her tuck her shirt in and straighten her tie as she fussed with her hair. Really, he just didn't want to leg go right yet.
"We could ah, catch up another time then?" he asked with a grin, not really wanting to let her go but unable to ask her to skive off class for more snogging. Especially not with exams this week.
Elspeth acted as if she was thinking about it for a second, before smiling and nodding. "Yeah, I think I could do that," she said. "Tomorrow, after lunch. I've got a free period."
After going over her hair one last time, Ellie leaned in and kissed Davy again, letting it linger a little longer than he had his. She pulled away a few seconds later. "Class awaits," she said with a wink, before running off to get her things.
