WHO: Lucy Martin & Leo Lovegood
WHAT: Playing in the snow!
WHEN: Daytime
WHERE: Hogwarts grounds
NOTE: Leo → Sean

Lucy Martin was really antsy. And not just kinda-but-she'd-get-over-it antsy, but like seriously antsy. She had gotten tired of studying hours ago (albeit only a few moments after starting) and had attempted to go out into the greenhouses to get some information on winter-blooming flowers and plants for the Hogwarts Beautification Society to work on planting when holidays were over, but Professor Sprout had just yelled at her to stop bothering her and go to the Library. Of course she couldn't stand being stuffed up in the Library, because that would be like she was studying again, so from leaving the greenhouses, the small Hufflepuff found her course diverging into the snow-covered grounds of Hogwarts.

Looking out on the Lake, she wondered if the ice was thick enough to skate on--probably so, she thought, and she thought for a moment of going back into the castle to get Ben to see if he'd skate with her... aww, but then she remembered that Ben didn't like the cold, so he probably wouldn't want to. It was a pity, to have to hate something that could produce something so beautiful as all this shimmering, white landscape.

Sighing and unsure of what she really wanted to do now that all of her best options were gone, she let herself fall back into the powdery snow. It was pretty cold out there with only her robes and a scarf, but this was nice nonetheless... Lucy giggled to herself up at the flakes falling out of the sky and began to move her arms and legs in the motions to create a snow angel. Heeee.

Leopold Lovegood was very fond of snow. Something about it made him feel very giddy inside, and he almost always ran out onto the ground the moment it began to fall, his scarf thrown around his neck, hat on his head, and robes billowing a bit behind him as he had forgotten to close them against the cold. He usually had his hands thrown up in the air, and was running about chanting, "IT'S SNOWING!" in a sing song like voice--almost like a chant--as he ran around in it. Snow made him feel like a four year old again. Leo had liked being four.

So when it had gotten high enough, what had the boy done? Built a snow man, of course! He had just pulled out a top hat he brought with him every year, putting it on top of the snowman's head (a silent hope that it would spring to life and begin to sing and dance like Frosty, but alas!) when he saw a particular girl he'd been spying eyeing every now and again walking about on the grounds. Or, to be more accurate, flopping onto them. He tilted his head, placing two buttons from an old pair of broken trousers onto the snowman for eyes, completing his work of "art", before he trotted towards the lake.

He watched her for a moment, tilting his head, before clearing his throat. "They always get ruined when you go to stand up." Unless, of course, you had help. Which he would totally offer.

"Heheheh--wha, hm?" Lucy stopped laughing and halted her angely-making movements and tilted her head backwards to spy Leopold Lovegood staring down at her. He had said something that she hadn't quite heard; although she could hardly be blamed, as she had been completely oblivious to the fact that she was not alone on the grounds. Funny, because usually the kids at Hogwarts hated to come outside during the wintertime.

Idly, she noticed that her hair was kind of wet from laying in the snow. Huh. Oh wait, yeah, Leo was--"Hiii Leo, watcha doin' out here?" she asked merrily, letting her features break out into a big smile.

He wrinkled his forehead lightly as he watched her continue to lay there, smiling up at him, and seemingly not having heard a word he said. Huh. It was a moment of pause before he returned the smile, shrugging a bit, and shoving his cold, ungloved hands into his pockets. "I was making a snowman." He said simply, motioning with his elbow over to the side where unmotionless frosty stood tall and proud. And... Scarfless? Dammit! "I forgot to bring out an extra scarf for him though. Oops." And no way would he give up his! He enjoyed his scarf muchly. I mean, who would want to give up there's? They were warm, and fuzzy, and his was blue with bronze and all that fancy designs for Ravenclaw and--

Lucy.

Focus, Leo.

"What about you? I mean, obviously you were making an angel, which is why I said that they always get ruined, though I don't know if you heard me, so if you didn't, that's what I said, and I'd be perfectly willing to help you get up so it doesn't get ruined, because snow angels are always really pretty when they don't, and I'd hate for it to have hand and foot prints in it when you've just made it and all, because I always get really sad when mine do." He somehow never managed to get to say anything without rambling onto a completely different point. At least he stuck on snow angels.

"Oooh I get it," Lucy nodded in understanding. So that made sense, and really he made a very excellent point. She made snow angels all the time and she always ruined them trying to get out of them and then it made her very sad like she wanted to cry, because who would want to kill something so pretty as an angel? It occured to her for a moment that you couldn't kill an angel--though that was the wrong kind of angel and she supposed that didn't make much sense. But this kind of angel wasn't alive in the first place so really...

She pouted a little bit thinking about how she was going to manage to get up out of this one. Siiigh, it would probably end up just like the rest of them since--oh wait, yeah! Leo was there, wasn't he? And she just needed one person to help her and... "Would you mind helping me get out of my angel, then?" she asked sweetly. "It would be really terrible if I had to get footprints and all that on her." Anticipating that he probably would, Lucy held her arms out above her and arched her eyebrows in expectation.

He grinned, nodding quickly and going around to the other side of her, since helping her up from where he head was laying would only ruin it that much more. Grabbing her hands, he pulled her up quickly, making sure that she didn't land anywhere on her angel, and placing a hand on her upper arm to make sure she didn't fall over anything like that, because the last time he'd tried to help one of his friends, they'd just fallen back into the angel and ruined it anyway, which had turned out to be twice as sad. He'd whined about it to his mom for hours. She said he should probably just pull less hard, but then they wouldn't be able to hop out without stepping. It was very Catch 22 like. Ew.

"There!" He said with a grin, motioning to the angel. "Perfect!" It was too, and a very pretty angel at that, though he noticed she was quite wet from having made it. "Aren't you cold?" He said wrinkling his forehead again. Being out in the winter always resulted in that, but it had to be twice as cold to be wet and in the snow, especially when it was the snow that got you wet in the first place, so maybe that would make you three times as cold, which would be really bad, and... He could've probably offered to get her warm. In non-romantic ways of course. He pulled off his robes, left in his jumper and button up instead, and offered them to her. Mother always said to be a gentleman.

Okay, so she was really wet and rather chilled, but ohmygosh she didn't even have to say anything and he was offering her his robes, how nice! See, that was the problem with most boys these days, they just weren't gentlemanly enough--if all of them could be like Leo, the world would be a much happier place, she was sure of it... although, really, there were a lot of things that could make the world a happier place. Like not being in some silly, pointless war. Or if people would just take some time out of their busy schedules to catch butterflies or do something simple and fun like that. Or planted some pretty flowers, or threw a little pixie dust around for no reason or...

"Oh, that's okay," Lucy said, smiling. After all, if he was willing to be that nice and polite, he shouldn't have to give up his robes, right? Right. People you had to coax to do it, now they probably deserved to have to be cold for a while. "After all, if you take off your robes so I'm warm, then you'll be cold and then I'll give them back and then I'll be cold again, and you'll give them back and if we keep perpetuating the cycle, it'll all turn out like it was in the first place, and that would just be silly, n'est-ce pas?" She cocked her head to the side and grinned as if what she'd just said made all the sense in the world.

Well, it did... to her.

He stared at her for a moment, letting the ramble process, before he shook his head. "I'm not cold. I've been okay in a jumper outside before. You're wet and being wet when you're cold can get you sick and then you'll be coughing, and sneezing, and you'll be miserable and then you'll get your friends sick because that seems to always happen and they'll get their friends sick and eventually everyone will be sick and that wouldn't be good, now would it?" He continued to hold his robes out to her, because... It felt right.

At least he thought it did.

"Besides, the robes your wearing have gotta be heavy if they're all wet. And that can't be fun at all. And it's snowing out, so having something that could drag down fun isn't very... Fun... Or... Good... Or... Yeah."

Lucy tilted her head to the side and put a chin to her finger, thinking hard on this. Well, this was difficult, because what he said was true too! Oh gosh, she hated circles of logic sometimes, it was always so confusing what was the right thing to do that would come out the best--but well, okay... she could give them back as soon as they were back in the castle and then maybe she could repay him or something or...

"Alright!" she conceded happily, glad that things suddenly seemed to be lining out in front of her. Lucy took the robes from him and put them on, holding them closed around the front because they were really big on her--but she was really tiny for a girl, so she supposed most things were going to be big on her. "Thank you--maybe we should go in, though, I bet the house elves would make us some hot chocolate if we asked nicely!"

The thought of hot chocolate was awfully nice. Leo loved hot chocolate. Especially when it had marshmallows! Though, the marshmallows always seemed to melt if they were in the hot chocolate too long. Then again, he'd also heard that the house elves had unmeltable marshmallows, so that would be good! His parents had always thought about buying them, as Leo tended to pout when he noticed all the white puffs were gone, but they never had gotten around to it, which was very saddening to the young boy, but since they were at school he wouldn't have to worry and--!

Oh, she was still waiting for an answer. Right! "I think that sounds like a brilliant idea! I loooove hot chocolate." He held onto the o for longer then necessary just to emphasize how much he did love hot chocolate.

"Good, then it's a plan!" Lucy exclaimed happily. She pulled the robes a little tighter around her and began to prance back off towards the castle, grabbing Leo's hand at the same time and pulling him off behind her. It was something she had learned to do throughout the years, upon realizing that people usually had a bit of a difficult time keeping up with the extremely high-energy, go-do type girl.

As they reached the steps to the castle, Lucy let go and stomped the snow off her shoes (ohmygosh her socks were wet too; she would have to have her mother send her snow boots soon) before stepping inside, into the warmth of the enterance hall. She slipped the robes off her shoulders and shook them out a bit, then held them out for Leo. "Thank you again, it was very nice of you to let me use your robes," she said with a brilliant grin.

He had let out a bit of a yelp at suddenly being pulled, but quickly got into the flow of her steps and was, more or less, trotting along beside her and simply holding her hand. It would be awkward if he thought about, because Leopold was always quite awkward around girls, but he decided not to. Thinking logically was just too much effort half the time, it seemed.

He shook the snow off of his clothes, before taking his robes back with a smile. "It was no problem at all. Hopefully you were much warmer in them then your wet ones." In reality, he actually had gotten a tad cold without his, and his bright red cheeks were enough to prove that. Not that he cared much, as long as she'd been warm. That's what mattered. "So! That hot chocolate."

Lucy giggled, his red cheeks not going unnoticed--gosssh, again, what a great guy! She would really have to make more of an effort in the future to hang out with him, because really, who couldn't use a friend like that? She figured she would be hanging out with him a lot anyway, though, with the play coming up, so that was good!

Hee. Yay.

"Oh yes.. hot chocolate," she recovered, having been distracted by her thoughts. Lucy turned towards the Great Hall, motioning Leo to follow along with her, and frolicked--no, seriously--inside and over to one of the emptier tables. It was in between meals, so they currently unmarked by house colors, and various students from every house were sitting around, studying, reading the Prophet, etc. Magically (haa!) as they sat down, two mugs of steaming hot chocolate appeared in front of them, as if the house elves had known what they were thinking. Heee. House elves were so cool.
