WHO: Rodolphus Lestrange & Bellatrix Black
WHAT: Engagements
WHEN: Evening
WHERE: Rodolphus' flat
NOTE: Rodolphus → Sean!
Nerves were not something that often filled Rodolphus' entire being. He spent most of his time really not giving two shites about anyone or anything, and he rather liked it that way. On top of that, he had never been told no to in his life. He had never feared being told no to in his life. So why was he suddenly worried it would happen this time? Perhaps it was because Bellatrix wasn't exactly… predictable. Sure, she had been hinting at wanting to get married for quite some time, but perhaps she had changed her mind. Perhaps she had decided he had waited to long, or that he wasn't good enough, or…
Oh for the love of Salazaar, he thought to himself, shaking his head and wanting to kick something for being so stupid. Clearing his throat, he pulled out a piece of parchment and quickly scribbling a note onto it.
Bella,
Come by my apartment as soon as you have the chance.
Yours,
RodolphusIt was good enough. Not conspicuous in the least. Sighing, he put his head against the desk and waiting for her to arrive.
It was nearly forty-five minutes later before Bellatrix finally arrived at Rodolphus' flat, and besides that, it was not a wait that she was planning on playing off on getting ready. Anyone who knew Bellatrix would know that she was always ready. Furthermore, Rodolphus would have known that at this time of evening, she would have just finished dinner with her parents and would be heading upstairs to plot evil schemes, or perhaps read a nice romantic novel which she would then proceed in gagging over and burning.
So Bellatrix had been ready to apparate to her boyfriend's flat the moment she had gotten his owl. She had just chosen to make him wait. And he knew it.
Not bothering with the whole 'door' formality, with a 'pop', she Apparated right into his sitting room. Figuring he would have heard her, she straightened out her skirt and sat down gracefully on the sofa, legs crossed and looking like the epitome of composure. Even if she had no idea what this was about.
He had unfortunately been caught a bit off guard by her apparation, having fallen asleep while waiting. He was surpsied, and showed it by jumping in his seat, and cursing as his head banged against the wood it had been resting on. "BLOODY--Oh." He let out a sigh, glancing at the clock, and arching a brow. He stood up, rubbing the sore spot on his forehead, and straightening out his coat lightly.
He pulled open one of the drawers, pulling out a large jewelry box and walking over to her. He shoved it forward, waiting for her to take it without much of a word. He wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to say in these sort of things. He never was quite good at it.
Ah, so this was what it was about. The whole birthday thing. She had been quite miffed with her boyfriend all day about this--the bloody man hadn't done a damn thing and--oh, but.. oh.
Bella's eyes widened slightly as he shoved the box towards her. It was a jewelry box, that was impossible to miss, and... could this be that little piece of jewelry he had been talking about months before? Why, she was certain that he had forgotten! Well, she had been certain he had forgotten her birthday, but apparently he hadn't and if she was right then he had done much much less than forget about the ring he had promised her.
Rodolphus couldn't help but roll his eyes a bit at her response, quite sure she was purposefully trying to be a pain in his arse with her question. "Well, the necklace, earrings, and bracelet are all a set that goes with the ring. I was thinking you would wear them all as such. That is, of course, if you're willing to go along with the agreement of marrying me that comes with the ring." He said simply, sitting down beside her on the sofa.
He took the ring from the box, and her hand in his other, before he held the jewelry close to her finger. "I hope you're not expecting some long winded romantic speech, as you know that I'm not like that. So I'll ask you simply; yes or no, Bella?" It was the first time in his life that he realized if she said no, his heart actually might feel slightly broken. For a total of a day, probably, before he healed it up and went on with things.
It was just how Rodolphus Lestrange functioned.
For what was probably the first time in her life (no, really), Bellatrix was rendered totally and completely speechless. In her state of shock, she allowed Rodolphus to take her hand, able only to stare at it in what could only be described as complete and total amazement. Then, she looked up at him carefully, eyeing him to suggest that she thought this may have been a trick.
But as unromantic as he was, she could tell that he was completely and totally serious.
How long had they been going out, anyway? Years, literally, and how long had she been trying to push the marriage topic? Years, again. So to see him finally buckling down and presenting her with a ring was enough to stun even the most unstunnable witch in all of England.
Her mouth moved open and closed in an attempt to find words, but none could be found. When she finally did speak, she didn't sound at all like herself, her voice almost choked. "It's about fucking time, Lestrange. Of course I'm going to say yes."
Nodding lightly, he placed the ring onto her finger. "I just wanted to be sure you didn't change your mind," he said simply, standing and straightening his shirt a bit. He leaned over, placing a kiss on the top of her head, before he proceeded to head for his office. He needed to finish some paper work and all that, didn't he?
Lies.
However, he did sit down at his desk, pulling out his quill and began to rummage through things, as though he actually had something to do. There was a certain joy in teasing her.
She was so lost in her own (gorgeous) reflection in the blood red of the stone on her hand that she hardly noticed as her fiancée--fiancée--got up and left the room. She allowed herself to stare at the beautiful rock for at least a moment longer before getting up to follow Rodolphus out of the living room and into his office, where she found him sitting in front of his desk, sorting through papers.
Quietly, she slunk up behind him and leaned forward, dragging her hands all the way down his chest and nibbling on the side of his ear. "Where do you think you're escaping to?" she whispered seductively.
He grinned a bit as he felt her hands on his chest, biting at his lip to try and keep it to himself. He tried his best to focus on the faux work in front of him, closing his eyes a bit and groaning when he felt the nips at his ear. Damn women and their knowledge on how to drive men crazy with the very slightest of things. "I do have work to finish and all that." He said quietly, attempting to pass off as a serious nature.
"Unless, that is... You have something else you'd rather discuss with me?" He arched a brow, turning his chair lightly so that he could look at her.
She smirked at him and kissed his neck. "You know, I might," she said, her lips still against her neck as she did so. Her hands, working of their own accord, began to slip the buttons out of their holes on his shirt and her mouth continued to work on his neck, sucking a little less than lightly on the skin there. "I just may -- be pleased enough -- to do a whole lot of.. discussing..." Once his shirt was open, she ran her hands across his bare chest, the cold metal of her ring trailing lines as she went.
Paper work could most definitely wait. His eyes fully closed at this point, he tilted his head back so she could get more access, his hands automatically going to her back, brushing under the hem of her shirt and sliding over her skin. If he'd thought of this reaction, he might have proposed sooner. "I think I could take some time away from work to... discuss... for a while..." He said with a smirk.
"Good, I was hoping you'd come around," she said, smirking against his skin. Without bringing her head up away from him, Bella climbed forward onto the chair he was currently sitting in and over him, straddling his lap whilst she slipped his shirt completely off. Without further ado, her hands went straight to his pants, showing what seasoned professionals they were at taking off Rodolphus' clothes. She had certainly had enough practice in the past, after all.
"You're just an amazing persuader," he said, moving his head so he could nip at her skin in return. Not wanting to get his desk unorganized however, he pulled her into his arms, carrying to his bedroom, where they did much... discussing indeed.
