Stebbins' Wedding Reception! Open!
They should have a wedding reception every year!

Sarah couldn't believe how much people were acting as if she had really just gotten married. They'd even said no presents, but some friends had brought things and she felt so guilty but at the same time---shh! It was all in good fun, and having a reason to dress up and dance and party was a fair trade, she liked to think! Yes, yes, she was definitely going to insist on doing something every year for their 'summer anniversary' as Sarah liked to call it. Even if it was just a trip out to the beach with Rory, there would have to be something, SOMETHING done on this day for the rest of their lives.

And on their real anniversary, of course! Wahhooo, they got two!

Her heels clipped against the dance floor as she crossed to take hold of her husband's arm, tugging him away from a group of friends because he was hers, and definitely more hers today than any other day! "I've got a surprise for you!"

She kissed his cheek before nearly pulling his arm out of its socket. Sarah led Brier to a table that was to the side of their big, yellow cake, and on top of it were four small white ones with little decorations, "Hooray Hogwarts Cakes!"

Brier!
Sarah had decided that she liked to cook, and was good at it. And it wasn't just her finding a new hobby that lasted a week like yoga or archery, she actually did have a knack for whipping up her own recipes and making quite delectable desserts. At the Three Broomsticks, they'd even started serving some of her specialties, and she got to wear that awesome chef's hat when she prepared them! So while Davenport took Rory out to the park on this beautiful summer day, Sarah bounced around their kitchen with the music blasting as she tried to figure out what to serve for their rehearsal dinner next week.

Which was really just a dinner for their close friends before the big night of their reception, none of that practicing how to walk down the aisle and all that nonsense. Sarah and Brier, they liked to cut straight to the fun stuff, it seemed.

Her giant wooden spoon had turned into a microphone, though, and her favorite part of her favorite song shooting out of the magically intensified speakers of her record player. Thank goodness for those silencing spells on the walls!

"---I'll love you with all the madness in my soul, wooohhhhhhh!" she sang into the spoon, not hearing the front door open behind her.

CHRISTMAS PARTY [BACKDATED TO 23RD]

After making a quick stop to check on the children upstairs (Anthony and Elijah looked so precious), Mackenzie continued on her normal perimeter around the party. Ensuring there was enough food and drink for everyone was extremely important, as well as making sure that no-one was left standing by themselves too long. That would hardly promote good review upon later reminiscing among their guests. But luckily, neither of these issues had seem to come up yet, leaving her with little host responsibilities.

So that left Mackenzie practically purring, as she had been for most of the night. The party could not be going better. The house looked beautiful thanks to her near-obsessive decorating, Christmas spirit was in full swing, and everyone looked like they were truly enjoying themselves. Nothing could go wrong, absolutely nothing, making Mackenzie feel her happiest in what seemed like a very long time. This had been a very good idea! Maybe if things continued like this, she could convince Sebastian to make this their annual holiday tradition...

Couldn't be too careful, though. Just for good measure, Mackenzie picked a few of her husband's favorite hors d'oeuvres as they passed by above, placing them on a plate. Finding him was easy; ever since she had gotten back, Sebastian had replaced her shadow. Not in a bad or stifling way, but in more of a supporting kind of way. She knew he was worried.

"I have a present for you," she smiled, producing the plate with one hand as the other wrapped around his open arm.

Brier!
Seeing as she'd met his son, stayed at his flat, had sex with, and used his skills to stop her deportation from the country, Sarah was pretty sure she could call Brier her boyfriend. Pretty sure. She'd only had a boyfriend one time before, and that was in 10th grade and had ended up horribly after their braces had gotten locked together and---yeah, that had been bad. And it wasn't as if she hadn't dated boys since then, or here, in England. She'd definitely gone on a few dates! She'd definitely had some romps here and there...wow, she was starting to sound like something of a slut---

Sarah shook her head to get rid of the thoughts as the lift opened to the floor. She stepped out, hoping the cooling charms she'd put on the bags lasted as she made her way toward Brier's offices. Anyway! Her whole mental rambling was brought on by the couple snogging in the corner of the lift the entire five minute ride (five minutes because people kept getting on and off, on and off). She wanted a boyfriend to annoy people by being ridiculously obnoxious with their PDA! Would Brier want to snog in public places? Would he actually want a title? He was very mature for his age.

She waved hello to Phoebe (she was such a cute pregnant lady!) and she nodded quickly at Bess (she was a scary pregnant lady) and darted toward Brier's door, knowing he was usually heading to lunch at this time. Sarah grinned widely when his door open and she put out her hand to halt him in his place, "No cafeteria junk for you today, sir!"

BLACK OUT!
Gabriel was silently wording his opening lines for the next segment of news when the lights dropped. He lifted his head in a curious manner, having been standing away from the news desk and wondering if it was just a backdrop thing. It wasn't exactly peculiar, there had been men working on the spells earlier this week which had caused the lighting charms to flicker and crackle. He let out a breath and stood where he was, watching as nearly everyone around him performed lumos with their wands. Gabriel supposed he should as well, and wondered if this sort of incident would mess up the wireless airwaves. He didn't know much about the magic behind the WWN, but he supposed those who did would fix things.

He muttered to his assistant that he was going to go into the corridor to see if it was only their studio that had gone out, and she quickly skittered away to find the snack trays. Gabriel let out a breath, sighing at the thought of having to stay at work later because of this delay. He had dinner plans for Rachel and the children, he did not need the annoyance of pushing back reservations. As he pushed out into the hallway, he let out a groan at the darkness. His wand was soon out and he felt awfully tired, frustrated that his day was going to be spent in near darkness.

"Do you have light?" he called out to a figure down the hall, noticing a brighter light than that of a normal lit wand. "The spells have gone out over here, it's pitch---"

Why had he been so languid in his movements just now? Darkness overcoming the WWN studios? In the middle of Diagon Alley? Diagon Alley, which was the near breeding ground for death eater attacks. Gabriel wished he had the mindset to jump to the worst possible conclusion, but the spell the cloaked death eater shot off sliced him across the side of the head, knocking him out cold and to the ground.

If he didn't die today, right now, Rachel was going to kill him.

MINISTRY OF MAGIC, EARTHQUAKE
Dirk loved his job, he did, but he loved Fridays even more. He still got to go in and work with the goblins (when they let him!), but he got to look forward to a nice quiet weekend of doing whatever he pleased. Lately it had been trying to get Derek to hang out with him, even though that usually just involved watching telly. It was something! Dirk was worried about his big cousin, especially now with the war getting so intense and--

He blinked curiously, as the shelves of his cubicle began to shake. Dirk's eyes twitched back and forth as he watched the pictures he had hanging drop to the floor, and the bust of Gorgak the Terrible started to inch forward and forward. And his desk was shaking, and now his chair, and Dirk was startled to his feet at the sound of someone screaming, "EARTHQUAKE!"

An earthquake! Oh hell, Dirk had just been thinking that some erumpents had escaped again! Earthquake! What was the first rule of an earthquake? These were NOT the things they taught you in Hogwarts! How was he supposed to survive an earthquake if he didn't have the proper training?! DEREK WOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO, THAT IS WHY DIRK WANTED TO REMAIN CLOSE TO HIM AND----

The bust of Gorgak the Terrible teetered off the shelf and smacked Dirk straight in the forehead, making him drop to the ground, and thankfully roll under his desk.

He really did love his job, he did.
