New Year's Eve Masquerade! For Tuesday

Octavius believed hiring someone to organise an event for him meant they would actually organise an event for him. Unfortunately, that notion proved to be a false one when the organiser left him high and dry in the middle of the month, but Octavius persevered. With the help of himself, Mira, occasionally Lottie Sweeting, and an army of lackeys, the night of the masquerade had come together as beautifully as possible.

Lottie had, for once, actually done her job, and at either entrance of the grand foyer were attendants handing out beautifully crafted half-masks to party-goers, and collecting them as people left. The ballroom was majestic and shimmering, the music was softly thrumming, the drinks were pouring, and the mood was infectious. All in all, Octavius thought, it was a satisfactory night to end a rather satisfactory year. After the chaos and excitement that had chased him all throughout 1983, he was rather happy to have had a (comparably) quiet year.

"Can you make sure Miss Warbeck is ready to begin?" he murmured to an attendant nearby who then scurried off. The Wizarding Wireless Network had, after all, promised a wonderful surprise at midnight! Octavius needed to ensure everything went perfectly.

The flash of a nearby photographer made Octavius scowl, annoyed was he at even the few press witches and wizards who had paid handsomely to be at the charity event tonight. The publicity was good, no one could deny that, and the masks concealed everyone's identity at least marginally so there was no grievous intrusion on privacy, but that didn't mean Octavius enjoyed their presence.

He rolled up the sleeve of his dress robe to check his watch, then his eyes darted back to the stage. It was five minutes to midnight! What, for heaven's sake, was Celestina Warbeck taking so long to appear onto an already dressed stage? Shaking his head agitatedly, Octavius cut through a path through the brightly coloured bodies in the mingling crowd to check on his star performer.

OOC Read this for questions, or ask me! Fluid time, so feel free to thread before/after kisses. Again, the "compulsion" to find your kissing partner kicks in 5-10 minutes before midnight and could be anything from thinking you should walk and get some punch to being mystifyingly sexually attracted to the masked stranger at your side. HAVE FUN! GO WILD ♥ AND HAPPY NEW YEAR'S MY GORGEOUS GALS.

POSTED FOR SATURDAY~ Sinners & Saints Ghost Train!

As the country side rushed by outside the window, Dianna could feel her pride grow with each passing second. She wasn't one to admit that she bragged about her achievements, but it would be a lie to think that she was not going to be boasting at how overwhelmingly amazing this event had turned out to be. The turn out had been far more than anticipated, the musicians that varied through every other cart were fantastic and livening up the mood---there were even ghosts of old conductors and passengers floating through the carts and having the time of their after-lives scaring the guests.

It was to be a fun, fantastic, frightful night. Dianna was beside herself with excitement, and she tugged her skirt down a bit and went on a search for a friendly face to interact with. Merlin, she'd really out done herself this time, she thought amusing as a cart-wide sized cobweb magically unspun to let her pass.

Dianna flipped a golden curl over her shoulder, smirking greatly. She was so brilliant.

Open to Guests!
She'd done it. Bianca wasn't even going to apologize for the thought; she'd done it. These past few weeks leading up to the wedding had been so nerve-wracking, worse than any training she'd gone through, more terrifying than any mission she'd been on, worse than...she really thought that she was not going to make it down the aisle. The guilt and the fear had nearly paralyzed her, but putting on her wedding dress, seeing her closest friends dressed up and looking so very happy for her, a last minute owl from Bertram that made things all seem right.

Well, she practically ran down the aisle after that!

The reception had turned out beautifully, and she really, really had to thank her mother for making her have such an event. All the planning leading up to it had been stressful, but it had made her stronger, and Bianca's life depending on being able to push through anything life threw at her. Her hair was down and out of the twist it had been forced into this morning; if she was going to dance and party, she was surely going to have her hair flying about.

A particuarly happy tune came on and she grabbed Amissa's hand, bouncing happily with the little girl who was now officially her step-daughter. The thought thrilled her, and Bianca caught Bertram's eye with a big grin.

Bianca!
It was getting down to the wire -- a little less than a month to go now, and no room at all for cold feet. He was sure that his mother was expecting him to get up and run every minute of the day, with how frequently she stopped by for 'emergency visits'. She always found a reason to show up, whether it was a last-minute flower arrangement change she wanted to discuss with Bianca or another concern over Bertram's tuxedo not being of precisely the right cut. It was starting to take its toll on him, not being trusted by her, but at least Bianca was being reasonable ... outwardly, at least. He had the sneaking suspicion that his mother might've been stressing her out or something like that, but he didn't want to bring it up and have it turn into an unnecessary fight.

He tore the invitation in his hand in half and dropped it into the bin, checking off the names on the 'master list'. It was tedious work, moving through all these RSVPs, but he'd been roped into doing it by hand to make sure that the list was as accurate as possible. He glanced at the small mountain of RSVPs that were to his right and sighed, rubbing a hand through his hair.

"Bianca, can you put on a kettle or something? I think I'm going to need an energy potion just to make a dent in this pile."

[Bianca!]
He'd been staying at Bianca's place for some time now. This means a few things: chiefly, that he's remembered how to perfect his one-handed diaper change, but also that he's been, well. Spending all his time with Bianca. And they hadn't been fighting like they had been before he'd decided to smarten up, so that was something.

In fact, when Bianca went to work and he found himself going to sleep alone, it felt strange. There had been a time when Bertram would've told anyone within shouting distance that having the bed all to yourself in the middle of the night when you just needed to let a good, smelly one go was one of the best things in the world.

Now, though...well.

He picked up the newly-delivered cartons of food from in front of the floo and walked into the living room to drop down on the sofa.

"Is Aaron still asleep?" He fished the plastic forks out of the bag and started to open up the container with the spring rolls, smiling sideways.

"He's sleeping loads better than Amissa did so far. Maybe it's because he's got a better mother."

Sloper Wedding!
She'd gone from hyperventilating in a brown paper bag as her sister rubbed her back to feeling like she could fly. Without a broomstick, of course. Brianna clung to Zach's arm as she watched their friends begin to jump onto the dance floor of their seemingly spur of the moment wedding. She had felt awful about not being able to share all the excitement, but knowing that there weren't going to be any photographers jumping out of bushes, and that their wedding photos were going to be their wedding photos was absolutely worth all the stress she'd endured.

"I'm glad you showed," Brianna said teasingly, leaning into Zach's side. What a fit that would have been had if he hadn't figured out that the wedding was in June and not July. Brianna's logical side was sure that she would have said something before the day, but her frantic, sometimes uncontrollable side still wanted to knock his head off for putting that fear into her head. What a boyfriend, she had.

What a husband, she had!

The thought made her smile though and she kissed Zach on the cheek, taking in a deep and happy breath of excitement.

Bertram!
Being pregnant had not ruined all of Bianca's routines. Sure, she couldn't get in the exercise she wanted, and of course her wardrobe had to change drastically, but a lot of things still stayed the same. Like! Like the fact that she could not sleep past six o'clock in the morning. And that was her late day. If she had been on regular rounds at the hitwizard office, Bianca would be up at five-fifteen (those extra fifteen minutes helped). She'd have to make breakfast, do her workout, shower, get dressed, and make it to the offices for early morning reps and practices. Now that she was officially on maternity leave and with not even paperwork to do, being up at six in the morning left her with very little to do but clean and wave her wand around moving furniture and messes into their new and proper places.

She wouldn't bother waking Bertram before eight, though, which was understand and probably still a bit annoying. He had his morning routines and she'd work hers around his, that was compromise. He had been amazing lately, what with staying at her place and making sure she didn't get stuck between the couch cushions (which happened way more than she ever thought it could!). Bertram had really been the perfect boyfriend these past few months, and that was why she was going all out with breakfast today. Sure, a big reason for slipping out of bed was that her back had been killing her all night and she couldn't even try to stay in bed, plus Bertram wouldn't be up for another hour and a half, but there were warming spells for that-----

Her hand shot down to press against her stomach as a pain struck across it, causing her other hand to grab onto the counter and knock over the bowl of eggs she just whisked. Bianca's face contorted in confusion, staring down at the tiles of the kitchen.

"Uh oh," she whispered, trying to keep herself relaxed, but feeling her heart begin to race faster and faster with each passing second.

Valentine's Day Gala!

Being the defending champs gave the members of the Caerphilly Catapults many obligations, like being the MC's of this rather lavish evening...or, rather, the boys had volunteered Carys to do all the talking as they stood and looked cute in their suits. It was a job that she didn't particularly mind, she'd been in the spotlight all her life, but she grew bored of introducing generous donors and the big-wigs of the league. Carys knew about all the politics that went on behind the scenes, so she put on a good face, but was definitely not shy about voicing her opinion on certain matters.

"Oh, absolutely," she said to the head of the refereeing committee, "But when you've got one ref on the offensive side, and the foul's committed on the far end of the defense's area....I'm just saying, we should probably be taking advantage of--oh, what's it called?" Carys winked at the man, and at the reporter listening in, "--magic?"

She laughed when he huffed and excused himself, and the reporter shook her hand for the great sound bit. Carys gave a little twirl (her dress had too many ruffles not to twirl), and leaned over the counter to order another drink. The sound of something like an amused snort made her turn her head, and she raised her eyebrows,

"Something funny?"

Heathcliff/If someone else wants to wander past idk idk >>
Her face was in her hand as she laughed. Croissant-wrapped pickles had been quite delicious, if not a terribly messy endeavor, but reenacting the actual making of them was nearly too hysterical to discuss.

"Okay---okay, enough about the pickle drenched croissants," she let out, slightly short of breath as they moved down the lunch line. Bianca was glad for Heathcliff; he was a friend around the ministry that she'd been completely lacking. The boys in the hitwizard department were all lost in their own depressing little worlds, and while she had once had her own bubble of angst, she'd managed to burst out if it these past few months. It didn't mean she was suddenly Miss. Popular around the offices of the Ministry, but she was glad to have someone to have lunch with and not have to go home and rummage around her usually empty fridge.

Well...she'd had a boyfriend to go on lunch dates with up until recently, so it was nice to once again have something to do.

And he was nice! And smart, Heathcliff was really smart. Rather respected around the offices, too, so it wasn't as if she was just clinging to the first bloke/person who showed her some attention. Some part of her was slightly uneasy about spending time with a man who was not Bertram, therefore not the father of her unborn child, but a much bigger part told her that they were both adults and could have an adult relationship without any consequence. They absolutely could!

Bianca stared up at the ever changing menu, "All right, your pick." She hoped he managed to spot something that was both sugary and salty.

CHRISTMAS PARTY [BACKDATED TO 23RD]

After making a quick stop to check on the children upstairs (Anthony and Elijah looked so precious), Mackenzie continued on her normal perimeter around the party. Ensuring there was enough food and drink for everyone was extremely important, as well as making sure that no-one was left standing by themselves too long. That would hardly promote good review upon later reminiscing among their guests. But luckily, neither of these issues had seem to come up yet, leaving her with little host responsibilities.

So that left Mackenzie practically purring, as she had been for most of the night. The party could not be going better. The house looked beautiful thanks to her near-obsessive decorating, Christmas spirit was in full swing, and everyone looked like they were truly enjoying themselves. Nothing could go wrong, absolutely nothing, making Mackenzie feel her happiest in what seemed like a very long time. This had been a very good idea! Maybe if things continued like this, she could convince Sebastian to make this their annual holiday tradition...

Couldn't be too careful, though. Just for good measure, Mackenzie picked a few of her husband's favorite hors d'oeuvres as they passed by above, placing them on a plate. Finding him was easy; ever since she had gotten back, Sebastian had replaced her shadow. Not in a bad or stifling way, but in more of a supporting kind of way. She knew he was worried.

"I have a present for you," she smiled, producing the plate with one hand as the other wrapped around his open arm.
