hippocrates a. smethwyck ([info]smethy) wrote in [info]valesco,
It had been a night like any other night. Smeth had been hanging in his flat with his friend, Ed Bones, whom he hadn't seen in awhile. He had been idly fiddling with the wireless while both men chatted, catching each other up, when the music station had abruptly stopped. Both men froze in disbelief, then Ed had stood up. His veins constricting, Smeth watched Marlie's cousin rush out to find out what the hell had just happened. It hadn't been a sick joke or a mistake. Marlie McKinnon, the petite firecracker, the one who had a sweet, hilarious, wonderful friend for so many years, really was gone, and the rest of her family. Matt McKinnon had been one his allies at St. Mungo's.

Tears forming in his eyes, Smeth consulted his journal and was met with similarly angry and shocked reaction as his friends. Most of all, he was infuriated at the apparent lack of "information" about the murders. How long would it take for their Ministry to admit this was all You-Know-Who's business? Brushing the tears away from his eyes, he grabbed his cloak, and headed out. He needed to see someone. He needed to see Jen.

Turning on the spot, he Apparated to Jen's flat, and knocked on the door. He knew that while he had been closer to Marlie, Jen had also been good friends with her as well. "It's me," he responded, his voice cracking. "Can I come in?"
