Mina + Baby!
See--this whole 'knowing the sex of the baby thing while your significant other didn't' thing was not the best of situations to be in. Tim had been able to leave his latest work site (a new robe shop in Diagon) and on a whim, had ducked into a children's store he'd stumbled across. Or, well--Gleny had informed him of it, telling him that he simply must buy Adamina something from the place. Which was something Tim definitely didn't mind doing, it was just hard when it came to baby stuff.

What if he bought something that had a hint of blue? Would that make her think he knew/thought the baby was a boy and then she started buying blue things on Tim's 'hunch'? And then when their daughter was born, they'd have a house full of blue things and everyone would say 'oh, what a cute little boy!' and they'd have to say 'oh, no, it's a girl!' and people would say 'but she's in blue?' 'Well, yes, blue is her favorite color!'

No, no, that would drive Tim absolutely mad with guilt. But he didn't exactly have the money to spend on a diamond something that would sooth his wife over when he finally told her that he'd peeked at the healer's documents. That simply could not be helped, how could he have resisted? Maybe his wife was just a better person than he.

Tim dropped his bag onto the kitchen table as he popped into their house, and poked his head out, "Mina?"

Adamina had been home most of the day, still in her pajamas, even. There was no use for her to get dressed if she wasn't going out or trying to impress anyone. Her body was sprawled out on the couch, a small bowl that once had ice cream in it sitting on top of her stomach. Oddly enough, inside the bowl was Super Bunny because he didn't know how to not be nosy. Apparently he was sound asleep anyway.

A book was opened in front of her face. A book of baby names, names that were ridiculous and useless and not suitable for a child at all. And it was even worse that she knew that they were having a little girl and Tim had no idea. Nick told her to tell him. Or at least she thought he did. It had been so long ago that she didn't remember. A yawn was given as she flipped the pages, now into the G's and showing no progress whatsoever.

She heard a pop and smiled slightly, stretching her arms up in the air, though showing no motivation to get up. "In here!" she called to her husband, glad to hear he was home.

Tim entered the living room, an amused smirk immediately crossing his face at the sight of Super Bunny in the bowl. He sat on the edge of the coffee table instead of making Adamina move to make room. He really did have the mentality that a pregnant woman should be able to do whatever she wanted, mostly within reason. His wife's requests hadn't been outlandish at all, so maybe that was why Tim was so willing to go along with them, but who knew what the next five months had in store.

Wow--five months. By December, late December, they would have their little girl. Oops, their baby, had to make sure he said it like that or else things could get messy. But, yeah, wow! They'd have been married a year by then, and already starting their family. Tim really had gotten past the 'too young' thing long ago--Tim had known almost immediately that he'd have Adamina in his life forever and--as much as he didn't like to think about it, they were in the midst of a war. God forbid anything happened to their family, but Tim was naturally a pessimist and couldn't help but think what if.

So--that was why he spent his time shopping for silly baby things.

"I picked up some stuff," he said with a smile, holding up the rather large boutique bag. Tim had definitely sucked up his manliness to enter a boutique, but he had found looking at the baby items was really not that hard to do. Plus, the sales women were rather nice, and had sympathized with him about his situation about knowing the sex. At least he knew someone would.

Smiling as he sat down on the table, Mina appreciated that he didn't make her move. Had he done so, she would have made him go buy her the most expensive sea food platter he could find. Was that was she was craving? Sea food? Ugh, she hated fish. He looked please for some reason, which was always good, and he had a bag which was always even better! Mina loved bags because it normally meant stuff for her. Well, now for the baby, but that was still pretty much the same thing.

Perking up when he held up the bag, Adamina held out her hands, grabbing for it like a little kid, her hands opening and closing in a desperate need to grab the bag. She smirked lightly and sat up, moving Super Bunny and his ice cream bowl bed off of her stomach and onto the table next to Tim.

"Anything good?"

"I hope!" he chirped, handing over the bag with a bright smile. See, this was good. They were just having a nice time with baby things, no big deal. Maybe if he just, you know--never mentioned that he'd gone behind her back and found out the sex of the baby, they'd be Scot free.

Except Nick knew, and that meant there was always a chance of blackmail, and Tim was quite sure his brother-in-law would use it against him. Maybe he'd just wait until their next healer appointment and say the healer slipped or something. Oh, yes. Blame it all on the healer! Mina couldn't be upset about that, right?

"Gleny told me about the place, you'll have to tell her I went to keep my good-husband rating up."

Grabbing the bag, Adamina waste very little time opening it to see what Tim had gotten. She squealed looking into it. And yes, she squealed. Some Slytherin, right? Anyway, she reached in and started pulling things out, her smile never faltering once as she fawned over every little piece of baby paraphernalia. "Tim, this is all fantastic!" She exclaimed with excitement, looking at the shows and one-pieces and just ... everything. Right then, Mina could have honestly jumped on him and hugged him until his head burst.

She pulled out the shirt last, definitely amused by the fact that it was pink and they were expecting a girl. Only he didn't know that, he had just made a lucky guess. She really should have told him right away, but she couldn't, he'd be so mad. She held it up to herself and smiled. "This is great, Tim. All of it. You will remain as the upper crustiest husband. No one could compare," she said, another squeal given as she folded the shirt back up.

He nearly froze in shock at the sight of the princess shirt; he thought he'd put that back! Oh, hell, she was going to question him and wonder why and he was going to be sentenced to the couch for the rest of his life and never be allowed to see his daughter and---

She wasn't mad? She wasn't mad. Why wasn't she mad?

"You're not mad?" he questioned before thinking. Damn his loyal Hufflepuff tendencies--he could not even think about lying when he'd been so blatantly obvious with things. Tim grimaced slightly, waiting for Adamina's reaction. Heightened hormones were a scary thing to deal with, and he honestly had no idea how she would truly react to the news.

But--really. It's not like him knowing it was girl would change the fact at the end of the day! Their daughter was always going to be their daughter, whether Tim knew it or not. That was the way fate worked and all that. Except he had to attempt to try and explain that to a pregnant woman. So--maybe he should just be quiet and accept his fate.

"Mad? About what?" She idly wondered if he was hinting at something she was unaware of, but at the same time, she figured he was just picking up stuff for a boy and a girl to even it out. Just in case, and all that jazz. It was her that knew anyway, not him. Naturally, had she known that he knew, she would have smacked him in the head with a pillow and then probably told him she knew as well.

Putting the things back in the bag, she set it aside and leaned against the back of the couch, patting the cushion next to her for him to come sit. It wasn't fair that he had to sit on the table and it definitely wasn't like she couldn't move. She wasn't that big yet. Mina smiled and postponed any more questions until he answered her first.

Uh oh. Tim moved from the table to the couch, still staring in a perplexed manner at Adamina. Well. This was not what he'd been expecting. His wife was seemingly too happy with all of the items he'd brought home to realize that the princess shirt (which was really a cute find, Tim was so proud of himself for that one) meant he knew the baby was a girl. Which he could definitely deal with.

But the guilt would consume him even more than it already was.

"Ah--love," Tim started, ducking his eyes and dropping his chin low. He couldn't even look at her, he felt so bad. They'd made such a big deal about promising to be surprised, and he'd gone and ruined it. Oy, he felt far worse about all of this now that he was actually close to admitting it, and Tim wished he'd just had the nerve to do it right from the start, "I--I kind of found out the sex. Of the baby, I mean. Not just the--sex."

He blinked a few times, wondering why he felt compelled to explain that bit, but Tim just blamed it on nerves.

Adamina blinked a fair few time, watching as his adorable face became far too guilty for her to look at. "What?" She asked, slightly taken aback. "You know what we're having?" That couldn't be right, she knew, not him! She didn't even remember how she knew, but she knew. Bloody hell, maybe that's why Nick told her. No, no. That couldn't have been right, Nick never talked to Tim unless it was a threat, so he couldn't have known that Tim had known and ... bloody hell.

"You mean ... you know we're having a girl?" And for a second, she had forgotten about the shirt and thought she spilled the beans on her knowing too. "Tim! You said we would wait and be surprised!" Not that she was doing much better but come on, what were the odds of both of them knowing the same thing without knowing that they knew? She shook her head and rubbed her eyes before looking over at him, hand going under her chin to lift his head slightly, looking him in the eye.

Tim winced greatly, shoulders scrunching to nearly his ears. Hell, hell--maybe he should have waited to give her the presents until after. Now was the big test, because he had to make her believe that he'd found out by accident. Which was true, but Tim was such a horrible story teller that in his nervousness she'd probably think he was lying and then everything would go to hell.

"I'm sorry," he let out, "but I was stuck in the examination room while the healer took you out for stuff and--and I just wanted to read all the, you know, the test results and everything, and I didn't think about having that being on the test I just wanted to see---like---" His face scrunched, suddenly feeling very hot, "The heart rate and--if all the toes were there and--I'm sorry, Mina."

Mina furrowed her brows as she listened, thinking of a hundred ways to blame him for knowing on purpose, but she really couldn't convict him of that. If he said it was an accident, then it was and she would believe him. But honestly, why was she so bloody nervous about telling him that she knew now? What the hell was this?

"I suppose ... I suppose I should just tell you that," she paused, looking down and heaving a great sigh. "That I knew too." She winced slightly as she let that out, though slowly looked back up at him. "I didn't mean to find out either and I wanted to tell you, Nick told me to tell you! But I couldn't, I thought you'd be mad and I didn't want to ruin anything and ... gah."
