She shook her head, trying to make sense of this. The more he talked, the more she wanted to punch him in the mouth and shut him up. And that thought was seriously tempting. They were so perfect for each other years ago, but now as she thought about him like this, maybe it was just time to let him go. "So wait, you broke your vows, but I'm a better person, so I'm not allowed to break mine? What the fuck is wrong with your logic? Did you get shagged stupid by this bloke or have you been this ridiculous since we met?" Yes, it was rash, but she had to say something to shut him up.
Watching him, she frowned, holding in threatening tears as he knelt down next to the couch. Idly, she ran a hand through his hair, though not of reassurance. "You don't understand how badly you've hurt me, Toby," she said quietly, her eyes welling up more. "Marriage is supposed to be forever. You wouldn't have cheated if you loved me, just admit it. I spent the last seven years of my life devoting myself to you and our family and I want to be able to do that for the rest of my life, but how can I trust you now? You've ruined everything."
