Order!
"Say cheese!"

Alice set the camera on its timer and rushed forward to slide under Frank's arm. The room filled with a chorus of 'CHEESE' and a loud grumbling of 'No' as the flash nearly blinded everyone in the room.

"Goodness, Alice," Emmeline Vance mumbled, pressing her hands into her eyes. Alice blinked a few times to try and rid her vision of the rainbow-colored spots and hurried (well, stumbled, wow--that flash was very bright) back to the camera to catch the picture as it fell out of the front. Swiftly, she held it up to watch it come into focus and instantly her vision was cleared. Oh, see. They were such a lovely bunch, even if a few of them hated each other.

You were allowed to hate someone and still look lovely together, Alice believed.

"Okay! Well!" She waved her free hand around, anyone who wanted to look at the picture (though she could probably make copies! Ooh--) could come up and snatch it away from her...not without a fight, of course, "Food is---"

Alice watched as the group immediately dispersed toward the food and drinks and other activities she and Frank and Marlie had managed to set up in the Longbottom's rather expanse backyard. Yes, the Order, while amazing crime fighters, also had the keenest sense of of smell and taste--or was it just they were really hungry?

Lily smirked and returned with a peck on her husband's cheek--seriously, could you believe they'd been married almost a year now?--and picked up a plate off the buffet line. This was nice, she thought as she shot a glance around at all of them assembled there. The Order generally only saw each other like this when there was something serious to talk about or after some catastrophe had happened. To have everyone just hanging out, having a good time, was so different. And much needed, as far as she was concerned.

After all, July also marked a much less pleasant anniversary, and it was all that Lily could do lately to find things to keep her mind off of it.

"Stuck in jello?" she repeated with a laugh. Honestly, where he came up with some of the things he said, she would never know. "I reckon how I imagine it would depend on the flavor."

"That is a valid point, Mrs. Potter," James said with a solemn nod, lifting the plate up to eye-level to watch it jiggly thoroughly. This could be a very lethal weapon, if used correctly. James turned a bit, ear almost pressing to his shoulder as he looked down at Lily, "Who would you like to stick in a big bowl of this concoction?"

Because, it was very doable. Very doable. James could think of about twenty people that he'd like to jam rather far down into a lake of jello, right off the top of his head. Wasn't exactly murder, but oh--it was a very unique variation of torture, indeed.

Actually, there were a few of those people at this party, and James made an obvious show of this as he tilted his head down to gaze across the field of chatting guests.

"What a question," she muttered, but the tone of her voice portrayed amusement rather than annoyance. Lily pursed her lips as if she were actually thinking very hard about how to answer, and her eyes scanned the crowd of Order members surrounding them. Still seeming to think about it, she put a scoop of the jello on her own plate and stared down into it for a long moment as if she were divining the answer through a crystal ball, then turned back to the others, then back to James.

"You know, I think of anyone, Gideon could use a good dip," she finally responded. Not that she was actually contemplating sticking him in a super-sized jello mold, of course, but the man could use some lightening up once in a while. "But I wouldn't want to submerge him completely---nah, I think we should just stick him in there halfway and let him holler at us."

James let out a somewhat high-pitched sound; it was almost as if he was going to laugh shrilly but had caught himself and turned it into something along the lines of a wavering sigh. Bothering Gideon really was one of his favorite things to do, or watch, really, because he hadn't done much of that in years. Yet, until recently, the man still kind of had it out for James' blood. Unsure as to what he'd done to ever deserve that (though James did not doubt that he had. He was James Potter, after all), he'd mostly just ignored the glares and under the breath comments.

"I think--I would pay good money for that," James said with a nod, lips twisting to hold back another laugh. His smirk though was immense, and his mind began to work. "How long do you think filling up a pool would take?"

Again, hypothetically speaking.

Except he hadn't pulled a prank like that in what felt like years, how amazing would it be to actually set one off with Lily and not have her scold him for setting a bad example? No, no, he had to at least test the waters here. Even if it wasn't Prewett---Dearborn always needed to be knocked down a notch or two or a five thousand.

Hypothetically.

Lily shook her head, but she was chuckling quietly to herself all the way. When James talked about it, it almost made her want to pull it off as well; it'd be the perfect thing to keep her preoccupied, after all. But that mature, responsible Lily voice was yelling in her head that doing such a thing as filling up a pool with jello and sticking one of their friends into it was ludicrous and childish and that she shouldn't engage in it. It was, after all, James and Sirius' jobs to make trouble---they did a good enough job of it around the Order that Lily wasn't sure they'd survive having another prankster running around.

Oh, what the hell was she talking about? Lily wanted to prank the hell out of someone and she knew it.

Damn him and his bad influence.

She put a hand to her chin. "I believe that would depend on how many people you had filling it up," she told him with a sagely nod. "For instance, if it was just you, then it may take quite a while longer than if you had someone else helping you. In any case, though, I think you'd want to go a little smaller. Say, a bathtub. Or perhaps a very large pumpkin."
