Mafalda was still pretty ecstatic over the fact that she didn't die during her couple week period of being in the hospital. Naturally, that was ages ago, but who knew! Every epidemic was terrible. Hell, it could have been the flu and killed her. But it didn't, which meant extra time with her family and friends. This was good, it put a whole new perspective on her life. She wanted to spend a lot more time with her husband and a lot more time with Caleigh. She even had thoughts of perhaps having another child. She really wanted one, especially since she was basically a stay at home mom anyway. Hell, what did she have to do that didn't involve herself or her child? She loved kids, why not add to the brood?
While her and Tobias may not have been spending time together like they should have been, she definitely had been spending time with Estella and Caleigh and Jacob. Just the four of them were more of a family than Tobias, Mal and Caleigh. Which was partly why she asked Estella to come over. While Tobias was doing the husband-y thing and caring for his wife, she still thought it would be a good idea and ask his sister for some advice. She wanted to make Tobias happier than he had ever been and only Estella could help with that. Sisterly advice was just as important as motherly and it was just what she needed.
She felt like a lovesick teenager, the way she was owling Caden. She would put a stop to her nearly daily letters (sometimes more than daily), but the fact that he was responding with the same amount of vigor kept her quill moving so quickly over her parchment that she'd had to make four trips to Diagon Alley to replace her supplies. But--she could not keep herself locked up in her house waiting for owls from Caden, so Estella had made it a point to take Jacob and herself out to distract her from missing her boyfriend and had gladly accepted Mafalda's invitation.
The woman really did love her sister-in-law, but after Tobias' revelations to her a few months back, Estella didn't---she wasn't sure how to conduct herself. Of course her loyalties laid with Tobias, but Mafalda was just as much of a sister as Florence was to her, they'd been friends for so very long and...and it was just hard, knowing that her brother was being so selfish and---yes, well. She could not say anything about any of it, it wasn't her place.
"Knock on the door," Estella gently instructed to Jacob, who was insisting on walking everywhere. He'd be two in a few weeks, and already had quite a head start on his 'terrible twos'. Estella insisted that Marcus Flint had nothing to do with this. The boy knocked furiously, bouncing back and forth before the door opened, "Falaaaaaaa!" he exclaimed, clinging to his aunt's legs.
Lovesick teenager was pretty much what Mafalda wanted to be lately. She wanted to miss her husband so much that she could feel it in her bones, but the truth was, when he left for work, well ... he just left. It was like those silly t.v. shows with the people living in suburbs. Same shit, different day. Always. Mafalda needed a hobby. As she sat in the Gibbons' drawing room, she tapped her foot slightly as she combed her fingers through her daughters hair gently. Spending all day just doing a simple task like that seemed to become a good hobby for her. Maybe she could be a hair dresser? Ha!
Hearing a knock at the door, Mafalda smiled and stood to open the door, only to be tackled by her nephew and his absolutely adorable nickname for her. "Hello!" She exclaimed, bending down and picking him up into a big hug as she smiled at Estella. "Come in, come in. You need no formal invite to make yourself at home," she said with a smile as she ushered the two in and shut the door. Within seconds, Caleigh bounded off the couch and towards Estella, just as Jacob had done to her mother. She wasn't much of a talker for her age, but it was normal, but she was a damn good conveyor of emotions and she was definitely excited to see her aunt and cousin.
"How are you?" Mafalda asked as she took a seat on the couch once more, allowing the kids to have free range of the room while the adults talked.
"I'm good," Estella responded with a somewhat dramatic sigh, tilting her head to her shoulder to look at her sister-in-law. She really didn't want to have Caden constantly on her mind, but he was so far away and it had been nearly a year since they'd met and started dating (well, no, that was August, but still---) and it was just so very hard not to have him in her everyday life.
Which was somewhat startling to think about, when she actually considered the fact that she didn't want to have to go through time without him again, but Estella put that serious business out of her mind and delighted herself in the daydreams.
"They're starting ballet for three to four year olds," she said, sitting up straight with excitement as she remembered. She'd been meaning to owl the information to Mafalda, but, ah---as her mental tangents could show you, she'd been a bit distracted with her Monaco bound quidditch playing boyfriend. "Do you think Caleigh would like to do that? I'm not sure if I'd be teaching it, but the other girls are great."
