Open to Friends!
Alice could now say she understood why people made such a fuss over weddings.

Well, no, not really---she would enjoy having the pictures with her friends, and dancing, but everything else was really unnecessary to her. Not that it was bad, no, no it was terribly fun to dress up and see everyone else dress up, but she had never been one to seek attention. And, really, that's all a wedding was, making sure everyone in the whole world knew that the bride and groom loved each other very much. Let's show you by wearing a big white dress and snazzy tuxedo!

No, no--they could just look back at the year Frank and Alice have had as a married couple, to understand what they meant to each other. Admittedly, it wasn't as stressed as some other's may have been, thankfully, but they still had made it. A lot of people don't even get to one year, and Alice was very, very proud of them.

Of course, their marriage might be over the moment Frank found out she helped a certain Slytherin sneak into their house last night, but Alice had faith in her husband; or, at least, she had faith in her ability to produce tears on the spot, and therefore confuse her husband into forgiving her.

Hey--to make a marriage work, you have to know how to survive.

With the party in full swing, Alice made her way through the crowd, thanking people for coming and accepting compliments and all the other things a bride-again was supposed to do. It was really nice, seeing all of her friends with happy, smiling faces, as it had been such a rough year. Maybe there was a reason for weddings afters all.

Turning his head, he tried to figure out what she had been staring at, only to let out a light laugh as he shook his head, watching as Peter frowned and shuffled onto the dance floor with his girlfriend. The poor kid looked miserable, and he was certain that if it wasn’t for James prodding at him, the poor blonde who was crazy enough to hang around with Pettigrew would have had a very boring night, staring at her shoes. The grin remained on his features as he looked back to Bess, even though it faded slightly as he noticed how forced her own smile was.

“If you say so.” He knew that it was best not to pry, but if she kept acting weird for the rest of the night, than he’d know something was wrong. For now though, he’d just try and enjoy his time there. Frank and Alice were only going to get married once, so—

Okay, well, so they were married twice, but they were going to only have one wedding. He didn’t want to look back and remember being upset during the reception. He wanted to have a good time, and he wanted Bess to have a good time, but he wasn’t just going to let whatever was making her miserable slide. He’d bring it up later, maybe, when they were far away from the cheery happy people.

“I don’t think you can handle the hokey pokey. And besides, I don’t want to upstage the bride and groom.” He grinned again, reaching down for her hand as he spoke before he led her over to the dance floor.

She grinned, following Fabian eagerly. It was oh-so-nice to have a boyfriend, to be able to go out like this. She'd waited all her years at Hogwarts to get out into the real world and have her fun (or rule the ministry, either or) but of course she'd made her mistakes and had to put all that on hold. Thank goodness that her brother simply adored Sadie and loved taking her whenever he could. Adam really deserved a some sort of trophy as greatest-uncle-ever. Veronica, too, but she was around with that crazy auror of hers, so.

So, it was nice, it was very nice to feel like the young person she was. Not everyone got the happy ending when the bad things came their way (not that Sadie was bad, Bess didn't think that anymore--).

Bess was very lucky that Fabian liked to dance. Not that she'd doubted it, not with his fun-loving reputation (oh, yes, she'd followed him closely in school), but it was very nice that her boyfriend liked to go out and do fun things like this, that he had no problem with doing what she enjoyed. And he was good at it, too, so Bess got to twirl and be dipped quite a few times before the music slowed. Aw, okay. Weddings were super romantic, and Bess pulled Fabian close as they fell into a slowly rocking step.

"I love this song," she said softly, resting her head on Fabian's shoulder.
