Her lips parted into a brilliant grin, her complaints from just a moment ago apparently forgotten.
Truthfully, she was used to his neutrality and didn't mind it--of course, there were days when she wished he would side with her just because of how horribly it would agitate Belise. Then again--and contrary to popular belief--Amaryllis did like a certain level of peace to be kept within the household; if things got too out of control between them it would be bad for everyone, including Astrid, the dear child. If there was one motivator to keep animosity at a minimum between the wives, it was the sweet four-year-old that always threatened to bounce in on their arguments.
"You always know what to say," she answered him with a smirk. They were on the other side of London from their home, with little chance of being run into by anyone they knew; it was nice to be able to be completely affectionate out in public for a change. "Although perhaps I ought to just forget about the damned colors and wear nothing at all."
