She pulled the invisibility cloak tighter over herself, taking in deep, steady breaths. The streets of Godric's Hollow were calm, still, not a person in sight as it was rather late; in the houses of the muggles in the area, you could see the telly flickering through the windows. Alice couldn't see the Order members hidden about the town, but she had a rough idea of where they were all located. It was strange to have the upper hand for once, but she knew it wouldn't last for long, no matter how pessimistic a thought. The tip to Dumbledore had arrived with a good amount of time before nightfall and had given the Order a lot of time to prepare for whatever was going to strike the small village.

James had been adamant about being one of those to go and find Sirius, but it was obvious that with his past relations with the death eaters that they couldn't risk it. Alice knew that Frank was eager to help as well, but it was finally decided on who was to stay and who was to go, and things would just have to deal.

Alice slowly made her way through a garden of one of the small cottages. She couldn't help but peer through the kitchen window, eyes softening at the sight of a daughter helping her mother was the dishes. These people were completely innocent; why had Voldemort decided to attack this village? Surely it couldn't be because wizards and muggles were living together, Hogsmeade was the only all-wizarding village and he'd already attacked there twice.

Quickly, she put up a ward on the houses' windows, feeling a guilt rise up in her at not being able to warn the family about what was to happen. She saw the flare of a spell before she heard it erupt, and Alice gripped her wand tighter, sending one last look toward the window before heading out into the starts of the fray.

[ooc] consensus says that we'll do both the thread and the ooc post; try and get your characters in, but if you can't, head back to the ooc post and relate what you'd like to happen there. Other people (with Order members/death eaters/aurors/etc) can tag to those comments with ideas they have, and so on. Have fun!

Mycroft hated these so-called Death Eaters. They totally ruined a good marathon of Tales of the Unexpected and they also killed lots of innocent people. And Mycroft was a good deal angry about that plus all the shite that was going on with Elphias and Hogwarts and really, tonight was just not the night to get in his way. Okay, they'd been given the okay to use The Killing Curse in dire situations, but Mycroft had never killed anyone before and didn't actually plan on doing it any time soon. This wasn't quite dire enough, and maybe if they saw that they were surrounded or overwhelmed by superior forces, they'd just stand down.

He aimed his wand at the ready and shouted at the first Death Eater he came across, "YOU ARE BOUND BY LAW. STAND DOWN AND DROP YOUR WAND IMMEDIATELY."

Okay that sounded pretty awesome right? Yes. Mycroft was a master at keeping all the millions of thoughts he had in order while still paying attention to what he was supposed to be doing. It came from practice of having to concentrate with Berk as his partner, who...was around here somewhere. After dispatching this fellow, he was going to go help Berk find some more to take down.

It was all right with Grayson that Mycroft hated Death Eaters - they hated him too. Honestly, Grayson thought it was a bit ridiculous to put yourself out there as obviously as these Aurors did with their faces exposed and their identities ripe for the plucking. He suppressed the urge to roll his eyes behind the mask and actually let out a snorting laugh. Did that 'put down your wand immediately' speech ever work? He was going to assume no.

He didn't waste any time, spinning about to face the Auror and shouting an alternation of diffindo and crucitatus curses. The more blood-spray the better, as far as Grayson was concerned. Grayson licked his lips, quite eager to prove to Mycroft that being bound by law did not in fact mean a thing as far as he was concerned.

No, Mycroft didn't think that the speech would work, rarely did it ever and only when they caught someone quite off-guard. Actually, it had only happened the once, but Mycroft still counted it. But other than that time, it didn't happen, so Mycroft was already jumping out of the way and sending his own binding curse in the Death Eater's direction. He hated their masks and what he was sure was a smug little smirk on the guy's face. This guy thought he was going to win, wasn't he? Well this bloke had never faced Mycroft Doge, Auror. He was in for a surprise.

"I SAID IMMEDIATELY. NOT AFTER A COUPLE OF SPELLS. STAND DOWN AND DESIST YOUR ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR," Mycroft shouted as he planned what he would do next. It was a good thing he and Berk fought like all the time. Plus, he got to duel all the junior aurors which was fun. Mycroft liked dueling. Not so much when lives were at stake, but he was an auror, he could beat this measley Death Eater.

A binding curse, really? That was ... a bit hilarious. It was easy enough to throw up a shield and side-step for good measure before he arched his brow beneath the mask. Grayson swallowed and prepared another triad of cruciatus -- perhaps the fact that the other man was using the nancy spells that he was were going to give him an advantage. Despite the fact that he hadn't been particularly close to Louisa and certainly disliked her, he was still irritated that anyone would try and go after the family.

Just because they were new money ... well. He shuddered pleasantly and let his other hand slide into his robes, palming the dagger there. Hopefully he'd be able to get close enough to use it.
