Bertram!
Anneliese heaved a deep sigh, letting the book she had been attempting to read fall down onto the table. This was just--- why was Bertram still sitting here? She had yet to figure out why he was sitting across from her at the same table, even after a few minutes of obvious silence. Well, at least he hadn't done anything...yet. But no boy, let alone one the likes of Bertram Aubrey simply sat at a table in the library to read. Or do nothing. Even Will, when he had been in school, had never been mild-mannered enough to simply read. Well. Maybe that was a bit different, because they had been dating during that time, but.

She sat back in her chair, face giving a twitch of misunderstanding. He must really be reading. Or pretending to read. Either way, he was doing a very good job of convincing her of what he wasn't, or was, doing. Alright, she couldn't take it anymore.

"Are you really reading that?" Anneliese asked, leaning forward in her chair to prop her elbows on the table. Why was she even talking to him? Ugh, no, she knew that reason; because he was interesting.

Bertram Aubrey was not in fact reading his book, but neither had he sat down with the intention to ogle Anneliese (although that was a nice plus, he decided rather quickly). He was thinking about why exactly it bothered him so much that Franzy was at St. Mungo's, which obviously meant that he was getting too attached and that he should immediately distract himself.

Enter Anneliese. "I know it's hard to believe there's anything in this devestatingly handsome body that needs improvement, let alone my mind -- but I do occasionally pick up a book or two." Hopefully she wouldn't die from shock. He laughed and shook his head, setting the book down and taking the opportunity to leisurely look down her blouse -- she was leaning forward, which meant she was totally waiting for him to do it, right? Right.

"Besides, books are good for lots of things. I'm trying to figure out if this one will prop up the uneven foot on my bed -- my suitemates have been losing a lot of sleep with my headboard rattling like it is, you know. I'm just trying to be considerate." He put his thumb and forefinger around the spine of the book. "But I think this one's a smidgen too thin."

Anneliese pulled back her lips tight to hold back a laugh, because-- no, he was funny, just she didn't want to laugh out loud. So instead, she rolled her eyes and clasped both her hands together to bring them to the side of her face. "That shocks me," she teased, a smile now breaking through on her face.

Alright, she knew that Emmeline had told her about Aubrey before numerous time (more like warned) before, and everyone knew about his reputation about shagging anything that moved, but-- she was engaged. And she loved Will. And Anneliese was very sure that he and Franzy (ugh) were--- okay, everyone knew about them, and everyone knew about how much she and Franzy hated eachother so (oh, she was a horrible person the girl was most likely dying at the hospital at this very moment, and here she was thinking about how much she hated the girl), yes. There was nothing wrong with simply talking to other people, which was what Bertram was. A person. A really inappropiate person, but still a person.

"Yes," Anneliese drawled, rolling her eyes again. "That's the thing that comes to my mind--- how considerate you're being."

Bertram grinned easily enough. Yes, he knew very well that Franzy was not at all fond of Anneliese, but she was hot, and it wasn't like he'd really been paying attention to where he sat down. There was absolutely nothing wrong with conversing with a nice rack.

"Of course it is, love." He set the book back down on the table and then leaned forward on his elbows, mimicking the way she was currently perched. "And you know, I'm sure I could think of a half-dozen things that would shock you. Most girls are woefully deprived of my expertise." Big talk, this Bertram.

"But your book," and he moved in so that he could pick it from her hands with a slight grin, "I think your book is just perfect." He was a half-second away from asking her if she wanted to help him test it out.

Alright, her eyes were permanently locked in rolling action, and her mouth had a pressed-together smile locked on her lips. You couldn't not feel that way (and act) when Bertram talked to you. It was as if he wanted you to feel that uncomfortable that you would--- okay, that was definitely what he meant to do every single waking moment. But! Alright, she needed to control her face concerning it's color.

"Oh yes, so sadly. How do we go on in life?" Anneliese started out in a good tone, but toward the end she faltered slightly as he reached over (very close, she might add) to get his hands on her book. Oh--kay he was taking her book. He took her book. She no longer had her book.

And now, her book had a sexual reference too.

"That's---- that's---" What? What could she possibly say now? Ugh. Alright, she had to focus because she was not going to let him win that easily. "Of course it is."

Ah, a challenge. Bertram did like those, and whatever he might've thought about Franzy, it wasn't like she ... was. Not that he was calling her a slag or anything. Nope.

But it wasn't like being easy was a bad thing according to Bertram Aubrey. He laughed when she stammered and set the book down on the table only to lean forward on his elbows again. "Something the matter? I wouldn't want you to swoon and end up with me on top of you, giving you mouth to mouth..." There was that cheeky smirk again. Yes, he was aware that she was engaged or something like that, but had that ever really stopped him before?

Definitely not. "And you know, Anneliese, I do try to keep most bints in the dark about what they're missing, but I might just make an exception for you."

Anneliese took a breath, and let one arm fall back down to the table. She even managed a small laugh before letting her chin fall slightly to look at him for a few seconds. Right. Pulling her chin back up to it's regular height, she sat up straighter in her chair. "No, that would be the worst," Anneliese responded, her other arm eventually slipping down to the table too.

Okay, see-- she could handle this. She was handling this. It was just a game anyway. A game that Will would never find out about.

"Hm," she stated calmly, though her heart was going a mile a minute at this point. She could do this, she wasn't a Ravenclaw for nothing. And, when all else failed all she had to do was mention her auror fiance and that would be the end of that. "I think I'll have to pass," Anneliese said with a small smile, leaning forward to pat Bertram on the side of the face quickly. Oh--- maybe that was a bit too much.

Oh, that's what you think, Anneliese. Unless the auror boyfriend appeared ... and in that case all bets were off. He glanced to her with a slight pout -- and he was very good at pouting, considering how often girls turned him down -- when she patted his face, turning quickly to kiss the inside of her wrist.

"You, Anneliese, are a horrible tease. You enjoy torturing us blokes, don't you?" Maybe the 'woe is me' act would work. Some part of him briefly entertained the thought of bringing up Franzy in order to elicit some sympathy points before he remembered just how well the two girls got along and he clamped firmly down on that idea. Right, just a game.

Anneliese didn't even try to hold back her jaw as it dropped in seer shock. He had just... kissed her wrist. There had been actual touchage and confirmation of his lips on her wrist and ohhh Merlin this was escalating far too quickly for her taste. Emmeline was right, very right, this boy was bad trouble and--- ugh, okay. Handling it, she needed to handle this, not have freak out meltdown. Anneliese quickly snapped her mouth shut to compose herself. At least she was able to ignore the pout on his face.

"I'm engaged Bertram, you know," Anneliese said to him in a low tone, but recoiled her arm quickly from his reach. She did---- not want that happening again. So instead, she propped her elbow up again to rest the side of her face in her palm. Alright, just as long as he stayed on that side of the table, everything would be fine.

"Hmmm, are you? I knew that a girl like you was too good to be single." If he could feign innocence on something like this then he was going to, damnit. He smiled and shook his head, bringing his hand to tap his own nose. "Smart, funny ... you can't have both without having a fiance already." Bertram had been about to swoop down again when she withdrew her wrist -- boy, she really was a Ravenclaw.

He might've been bad trouble, but he was damned hot ... right? "It's just, well, I've been working up the nerve to ask you ... if you can help me with arithmancy. If I could woo the numbers, I think I'd be fine -- but they don't respond well to chocolate and flowers. I've tried."

Again, Anneliese feigned a small smile, totally disregarding her inner emotions. Because if she didn't do that, she would... die. Of anxiety and a heatstroke, right on the spot. So instead, she simply sat up straight in her chair and patted down her hair a few times before thinking to respond.

Arithmancy? Please.

"And you're asking me to help you because..." Anneliese started, her eyebrows going high as her sentence trailed off. Aright, she knew that would be an easy answer for him, but maybe it would lead to--- something where... she didn't exactly know. But she was going with it. Then, Anneliese dipped her chin down, speaking in a lower tone. "Maybe you're getting the wrong types of flowers and the bad tasting chocolate."

"Well, because you're a Ravenclaw and it looks a little like Vance might gouge out my eyes if I get to close to her these days," He admitted easily with an arch of his brow. That much was true, at least -- and he did do rather poorly in Arithmancy if only because he hated to put the effort into it.

"So I am asking for your help. Can you at least give me tips on the flowers and chocolates that are most likely to woo an equation to ... give up its secrets?" All right, he was quickly slipping back into innuendo, but could it really be helped? Certainly not.
