Darren's scowl faltered. It was impossible to not be wounded by her immediate revulsion to his touch. He continued to hold onto her wrists with gentle firmness until her struggling subsided, he then relaxed his grip. Devon all-but flung herself away and backed into the nearby wall.
When she accused him of cheating, Darren took a step of protest toward her. "That's not--" he began calmly but was cut off by more accusations that made his mouth clap shut. Darren glanced away and sighed. He knew that it was impossible to explain away the Opal and he didn't want to flat out lie to her about it, but what he'd done with Lydia, he had to make her understand, it wasn't unfaithful.
Turning his gaze back on Devon, he stared for several breaths before he took a step closer. Darren watched her as he moved in and it pained him to see her this upset and hurting. He rested his hands to wall on either side of her - knowing that touching her again would be a very stupid idea.
"All right, yeah," Darren started quietly as he searched to hold her eyes with his own. "I was using Opal, with Lydia," he admitted, "But Lydia - she's just a friend and nothing more."
