Grail!
Scarlett truly hated playing against the Wasps. Ludo Bagman’s face on that gigantic screen brought literal pains to her chest, and it was as if he made it a point to be in her line of vision just to flash her that smirk of his. Ugh. Playing for the Wasps had been the worst season of her life and she hated having to relive it every time they played in Wimbourne.

It was probably an attempt at a scare tactic, she thought as she readied herself for the quickly approaching swarm of players. Bagman was trying to get into her head so that she got distracted, but Scarlett was better than that. It was going to take more than his ugly face to get that quaffle through one of her hoops. Left, right, left, she watched the red ball get tossed back and forth, just out of the grasp of their chaser. Carys was going to swoop in at any second from below, and Tristan from the top, but until then---

She winced at the sight of a bludger smacking the Wasps’ chaser straight in the gut, sending him flying off his broom. Her eyes followed the quaffle that had dropped down with him. Scarlett lurched forward to accept the ball from Carys (coming from below, as she had predicted), and it was only because of the gasp of the crowd that she looked up and managed to see the broomstick before it hit her.

Scarlett managed to keep her grip on her own broom as she was pushed back by the force. She blinked, wondering why the crowd was shouting like it was. Carys had the quaffle, but no one was moving, the game had stopped. She blinked again and looked down at her stomach. Oh. Did anyone else see the broomstick protruding out of her?

Her eyes drifted up to the big screen and for the first time that night it was someone other than Bagman being showcased. Funny. Scarlett blinked at the giant image of her on the screen before she lost her grip on her broom and tilted, sliding off into a plummet toward the pitch.

Grail wasn’t able to attend all of Scarlett’s games; partially because he couldn’t afford it, and partially because of his work schedule. He had taken on some extra shifts over the past few months, knowing that Quidditch season was about to start. He wanted to show Scarlett that she had his support, despite her having told him several times before that he didn’t have to go to her games to know he supported her. He loved to be there when she won, and he loved knowing that he helped lift her spirits when she lost.

He was damn positive he loved her, but he was too much of a coward to ever tell her. Or maybe he was just too afraid to admit it to himself, seeing how love was a foreign concept to him. He was loved by people – his family, at one point - though he had never been able to reciprocate those feelings; at least not the way a son or brother should.

Working a few more weeks of extra shifts at the bar, he had saved up enough money to attend the Wasps vs. Catapults game. He sat in the stands, watching the game progress over time. The crowd had stood up once Scarlett went to grab the Quaffle, but Grail’s heart leapt into his throat as he watched the broomstick impale her. For what seemed like an eternity, Grail felt like time was moving in slow motion as his girlfriend plummeted down towards the field below. Before he could see whether or not she collided with the ground or if someone managed to catch her or throw up a charm before she hit the grass, Grail was making his way towards the stadium exits, pushing past everyone in order to get to the medical station. He knew that was where they would be taking her, and he needed to see for himself that she was going to be okay.

There were spells placed on the field for this sort of situation, to slow the fall of a player and even of the quaffle, but it still hurt to hit the pitch. Hitting the ground caused Scarlett's eyes to shoot open, and the blurry images of players zooming above her, toward her filled her view. Carys was the first face that came into focus, and Scarlett gaped at her captain.

"What---it---"

"Shut it, Rabnott!" Carys let out, her hand going to the side of her face. Scarlett shut her mouth tightly and watched her captain continue to freak out, "CATCH THAT BLOODY SNITCH, CHAMBERS!"

Carys was pushed out of the way by a blur of neon green robes. Healers. Oh, that was good. It was very strange to...know what was going on but not be able to see it clearly. She knew she was lying on the pitch, she knew that the game was still going on above her, she knew that the healers were currently performing spells on her that were supposed to stop the pain that was so strong she couldn't move, but her eyes only saw outlines, colors—

She was lurched up into the air, and the annoyingly familiar feeling of the magical stretcher spread across her back. It contoured to the shape of the patient, the—oh, she was a patient.

Scarlett stretched out her hand, reaching for the closest blur of green. Patient, she was a patient, bleeding and losing her stream of consciousness, it—oh--

“My—parents,” she managed, her throat feeling dry as she weakly grabbed onto someone’s sleeve. Oh, Merlin, her parents were always in the stands, they must be losing their minds. Everything went dark for a moment and then the bright lights of—was she off the pitch? Healing station, it had to be---she hated this place---

“We’ll get them——she’s lost a lot of blood!” a voice shouted. Scarlett groaned; brilliant. Her head lolled to the side, but she tried to force herself back up.
