Michal Conway Lynch Intervention
Seth had been meaning to ask Henry to be his best man for so long, he didn't even think twice about using The Tattler announcement as an opportunity. In hindsight, he probably should have spoken to Michal first. Now he wasn't responding to his owls, his floo calls, or even coming to the door. He needed to sort this out and quick. It was understandable his best friend his best friend was upset. There was a period of time Seth didn't speak to Henry. A long period of time. He couldn't exactly recall exactly, but there may had been a drunken conversation at some point where they spoke about being each other's best men. Seth was certain he laughed at that, certain he would never get married.

But he did once already, he eloped and told no one. So, clearly he had every right to be upset, but Seth couldn't admit he made the wrong choice. A lot had changed since those drunken nights. His brother pulled his life out of the drain. Turned him around. Seth would not be even getting married right now if it had not been for Henry. They had been through so much in the last two years. It couldn't be anyone else.

Michal didn't exactly make the decision difficult with his reaction to the news that he was engaged. He didn't know what else to do to alleviate this irrational fear that Michal had that he was suddenly abandoning him, and while making Henry best man didn't exactly help, he wasn't about to base his major life decisions around Michal's whimsy. He was though, going to get to the bottom of what ever was going on. Because amount of hostility Seth was getting, suggested there was more going on.

In fact, Michal had been in a funk for ages. And Seth tried to help, but there was only so much he could do when his friend shuts him down at every turn. Either way, he wasn't leaving today until Michal finally spilled where all this misdirected anger was coming from. Breaking into his house was easy. Though was it really breaking in if Michal's super kind, prettier and much smarter sister let him in? With a charming smile and a well placed bribe you could get anywhere. He placed the bottle of whiskey on the counter before starting to roam through his friends home. "Oi! I know your home, and I may have trapped you in here with some crafty spells, so you might as well come out and talk to me. Or not, I have all day, and it seems you have plenty of food for me to eat."

Michal jerked awake with a start, breathing deeply as his eyes fluttered to take in the dim light. He hadn't remembered shutting his blinds, just as how he didn't remember how he had stumbled into his closet, but by the looks of the pile of robes on the ground, he had considered it a much better bed than the messy one across his room.

What he did remember was fighting a massive-two day headache with--- as if just remembering he had hands, Michal clenched the half-empty bottle of fire whiskey closer to his chest. Right, binge drinking, that was what he had been doing all day yesterday. Michal chewed his empty mouth slowly, taking in the messy scene of his room before him.

When had his room gotten this messy? He didn't remember. It kind of looked like someone had ransacked it.

A familiar shout from downstairs drew his attention towards the door, and at that moment, Michal struggled to identify it. Were people over? What people came here? As it was obvious that the floor had moved overnight to tilt on a slant, Michal struggled to make it off his pile of clothes and to the door. It took a bit of effort, and perhaps one too many loud crashes, but eventually, his boggled eyes and feet eventually teetered his body out into the hallway.

Sauntering up against the railing on the second floor, Michal squinted his eyes into the bright light. It took him a couple moments, in which he slumped down on the guard rail, but eventually he did locate the origin of this loud voice.

Seth.

"Fuck," Michal sighed, and in a flippant manner released his arm to hang over the railing. Feeling it was far too heavy, he opened his palm to flex his muscles. The bottle previously in his hand crashed down to the first floor with little indication of it happening on his part. "You're here?"

Seth didn't have enough time between the curse and the bottle dropping to the ground to process that the voice was coming from overhead. Nor did he have enough time to move far enough away to avoid the shattering glass. Fucking hell was he trying to maim him? Looking up to his friend he could only assume that is was unintentional.

"Are you drunk?" Seth let incredulously, brushing away shards of glass that glittered the fringe of his robes. Michal wasn't just drunk, he could barely stand if how he was leaning on the railing was any indication. Or the fact he just nearly dropped a bottle on his head. "It's barely nine. In the morning. How are you even--" He shook his head not even finishing his thought.

Giving up he just turned and made his way to the stairs. How had he not noticed. How had it slipped by that his best friend was spiraling into such a mess. Sure he had been distracted, and Michal was being a dick about him getting married, but that--- there was no way he could have known that was an indicator for this. "What is even happening right now?"

Michal let out a loud snort. What was happening, why was Seth in his house? He couldn't imagine what would be so important--- as practically anything else that had ever happened in the past couple of months hadn't been deemed worthy enough of Saint Seth's presence, so what was it? Michal let out a brazen noise and waved promptly at the empty air in front of him.

It literally didn't matter, because he really couldn't care.

Securely holding on to that thought, Michal turned his on slumped form to slide down the railings with support. Crunched together on the ground in a way that certainly couldn't be comfortable, Michal let out the loudest sigh.

Why wasn't he sleeping right now? He could really go for a nice sleep right now. Liddie had kept him up most nights now with her insistence on refusing to come home at normal hours with a normal curfew like a normal twenty-eight year old, so--- Michal's eyes shot open. Had his sister come home last night? He quickly searched his short-term memory, and immediately remembered that he could not remember.

"Lid!" Michal began to squawk as he fumbled with his feet. "LID! LID! LID!" He had to know, had to check her room, had to make sure she wasn't sleeping in the rotten den of Charlie Sp---

He howled, stars filling his eyes as a blunt ache began pounding from the back of his head. What had he just hit? The floor? Michal blinked slowly, honestly unable to recognize Seth's standing form before him.

Smacking Michal in the back of the head was probably not the best approach, but by the time Seth had reached the top of the stairs, he had some how slumped down into some sort of blob on the floor. And just when Seth was about to drag him up, Michal was scrambling to his feet on his own (barely) ranting on about his sister, seemingly unable to hear Seth calling him. It was really the only way to get his attention.

"She's not here. She's fine though, just left when she let me in to give us some time to talk." Which was going to be pointless with how drunk he seemed to be. Panicking as if his sister was dying. Well, she was supposedly dating Spinnet, and that was just about the same as the plague, but that was a matter for another day.

Hooking his arm underneath Michal's, Seth lead him to his room. "Alright mate, time to sober you up." He dropped him on the bed before making his way to rummage through the potion cupboard. He was not having this conversation while Michal was so pissed he couldn't stand and he was so sober the sight made him want to go drink the whole bottle on the counter in the kitchen.

Seth came back from the bathroom to find Michal not where he left him. "Ah ah! Where do you think you are going?" Moving quickly, he blocked his friend's path. Shoving a potion in Michal's hand, he stood his ground not letting him gain an inch. "Drink that. Then we'll see about moving this party to somewhere with couches."

Because he simply didn't want to be holding anything or Michal sought to personally offend Seth, whatever it was that his friend pushed into his hand he let slip through his finger tips.

"Oops," Michal sighed, gazing hazily (directly?) at Seth as the vile crashed on their feet. He probably couldn't feign much of anything being accidental, but, Michal thought brightly, he couldn't really care about any of that! Seth being annoyed with him for not drinking his precious potion was actually--- quite hilarious.

Michal began to laugh, a low, gutted guffaw. That was hysterical; Seth, being annoyed with him about something? Really. What in the world could Seth be possibly mad about with his practically perfect everything?

"You---" Michal began, fumbling back from Seth. "You drink that. You drink it." He shook his head, and realized after backing up enough, that he had bumped into his bed. Falling down on the mess, he laid on his back with his arms spread out wide. Blinking slowly at the ceiling, he lay peacefully. But only for a few moments.

"FUCK SETH!" he screeched when his friend that he may have momentarily forgotten was present bounced into view. Suddenly his arms and legs felt heavy, and Seth's blurry image began to hover closer.

Seth rolled his eyes, he should have expected as much from him. He stood and watched as Michal fumbled about and wondered just how they had gotten here. This reaction was more than him not being best man. It was more than him marrying Savannah. Michal hadn't even reacted like this when he found out that he had slept with Liddie. That he had hidden an entire relationship from him.

He moved to sit on the bed, ignoring Michal's outbursts. He thought back to when Michal started this escalating trend of over reacting. Larkin? Seth still hadn't completely forgiven her for that whole fiasco, not speaking with her since Halloween. No, it started well before that. Michal was happy, and then he wasn't. He never got that full story either.

Laying back on the bed, Seth stared at the ceiling. He had put it off for too long. Made excuses, told himself that it wasn't as bad as it was. He didn't think it was. "What's going on Michal?"

Releasing a sigh he hadn't realized he'd been holding, Michal exhaled deeply. When he was younger, he vaguely remembered now, he had wanted to charm the ceiling in his room to look like the Great Hall. Of course that was next to impossible for an twelve-year-old to accomplish even with the help of his wunderkind older brother, but for years, every summer, Michal would stare up at his uninspired ceiling and think.... why the fuck wasn't he good enough to charm his ceiling to show stars at night and the sun during the day?

He stared up at his blank, empty ceiling.

A wailing, injured of a moan escaped him.

"Never charmed my ceiling," Michal bemoaned, actually having partially paid attention to Seth's last words. He frowned deeply, and felt sadder than he had remembered in a while. Why couldn't any part of his life be together? Or at least not in complete shambles? He closed his heavy eyes, and tucked his chin in toward his shoulder. "Never gonna charm it," he mumbled, shifting away now to turn on his side.

Seth stared at the ceiling, there was a time when the Great Hall ceiling was all his friend could talk about. Most of it, Seth tuned out because it was boring, but the determination was clear. He had never managed it though. Seth had just assumed that Michal had given up, or rather just forgotten about the whole thing moving on to other obsessions. Mainly quidditch. Quidditch had taken up so much of their lives.

The sad tone of Michal's confession shook Seth. Tearing his eyes from the ceiling he turned to look at Michal, suddenly feeling like he had some how failed his friend. "Hey," he said softly putting his hand on Michal's shoulder, hoping to gain his attention. He wanted to say it was just a dumb ceiling. A stupid complicated charm that didn't make you any better if you knew it or not. But this wasn't about the ceiling, and what ever it was about certainly wasn't dumb. "It's not too late, definitely far to early to be saying never. We'll add it to the list. What else have you got?"

Eyes closed, Michal fell in and out of consciousness. What else had he got? Oh, loads he still got. Too many loads, loads that had become too heavy to handle on his own. Right?

Well...

Pressing his own face further into the mattress, Michal let the free-flying feeling one experienced whilst being ridiculously drunk take over him. The stress between his eyes had stopped, like it always did, and his brain felt disconnected enough that it didn't quite feel like he had to think at all. And yet.... a frown formed on Michal's lips. Still, in this intoxicated state, he.... there were still memories, thoughts, emotions that permeated. Things Michal couldn't quite shake them, and they left hints of little footprints in his subconscious.

Little footprints?

His frown formed deeper.

"I did bad thing," Michal mumbled miserably. "Did a bad thing, wrong--- things, all the---" Despite his limbs feeling heavy, Michal still managed to raise his hand and slap it down onto his face to partially cover it. "Got--- too many bad things. Help with---" he pushed his palm into his head, rubbing it harder and harder into his temples with each passing moment. "Can't help with any of it."

Seth's frowned deepened as Michal spoke. He stared at him trying to process his words. This was not at all what he was expecting, and he was at a loss of what to do next. Whatever this was, it was big.

"I can try." Seth said earnestly. It was true, whatever it was, he was certain he would do what ever he could to help Michal. He had no idea what he had done, but he couldn't help but hope it wasn't as bad as he was making it sound right now. Michal was drunk, everything seemed like the end of the world when you were half a bottle of whiskey in.

"But I can't do anything if I don't know what's going on." He touched Michal's shoulder and waited until his friend looked over to him. How had he missed this? How had the fact that his best friend was completely floundering go unnoticed? As far as he was concerned, Michal had every right to be upset with him. "It's just me. You can tell me what's going on. We can figure this out, just talk to Michal."

His head was aching enough that it hurt to keep his eyes open longer than a few seconds at a time. What had Seth been saying? Wait--- Seth? Michal's upper brow burrowed, and he squinted through his heavy lids. He didn't want to talk to Seth how had Seth gotten in here? What, was he here to tell him--- he didn't care at all.

"No," Michal responded with a surprising amount of indigence in his voice for how truly drunk he was. Sparing one hand away from pressing into his face, Michal jerkily waved his hand toward Seth's body until it made contact. Briefly gathering a bit of fabric for support, he then began to roughly push at the body away from him. "No no no no no no no!" he repeated like a broken, monotoned record.

"Don't get to---" Michal struggled, sticking his chin out in the air. "Don't get---" His eyes finally closed. "Get---" Whatever part of Seth's body he had been pushing and hitting slowly began to miss its mark.

Mid-sentence, Michal nodded off, his words turning into indistinguishable grunts, whimpering noises, and then finally heavy breathing. He was tired, after all.
