elizabeth f. fortescue ([info]ringmybell) wrote in [info]valesco,
She smiled and nodded. Liz had not expected being able to drag Remus out of his flat to get to the party at all, so the fact that they'd almost made it to midnight was a huge feat in itself. It was just...it was nice, just being here, really. Remus being with her made it better, of course, because even if he did not laugh or smile or dance as much as she wanted him to, some part of her knew that...or at least wanted to believe that this helped him out. It helped her out, for sure.

She didn't even remember the initial news of Marlie and Lily being killed, and had to learn the news through the healers at St. Mungo's after she'd been found after her abduction. Some part of Liz felt...cheated for it. Like...she'd been taken away even the slightest shred of decency, that the death eater who had tortured her for all those months wouldn't even allow her to mourn her best friends. So...so...she'd been trying to fill in the holes, and while her time with Graeme had helped (but seemed to make things more awkward than she could ever recall), Remus was the one that had been in the middle of it all. He had been one of the little first years huddled together outside Gryffindor Tower, nervous and scared. He'd been there for their first Hogsmeade trip, quidditch matches with James and Frank. He and Lily were prefects, he...was woven into every bit of her thoughts, the only living memory she had.

Liz gave him the pleasure of letting go of his hand. She tapped her chin in a thoughtful manner, lips turning up in a smile.

"My resolution this year is to showcase some of my photos at an art gallery. WIthout using Ian's name..just on my own accord." She already felt proud, even though she was nowhere near accomplishing this goal. She had lost sight of her photographer, but lately it was the only way she could really voice her thoughts and feelings. Liz poked Remus' shoulder, hearing the crowd begin to grow loud as midnight approached. Liz pulled her legs underneath her, her eyes shining with the unspoken question to Remus, only her hands urging him to choose a resolution as well.

"C'mon, Lupin," she said, "make it count."
