nora m. peakes ([info]melindicate) wrote in [info]valesco,
Nora jolted out of bed, the darkness of her room enhancing the sound of the knocks. Her head had been stuck in the limbo of trying to fall asleep and dreams, and her coherency wasn't---what time was it? Who was knocking? She hadn't...Nora frowned, the light of her bedroom flickering on and putting the mess she was in into focus. She wasn't even sure why she'd gotten into bed, because the quiet, the darkness, the dreams...they all led back to that barn, and...

She winced, putting her hands to her head. Every time her thoughts drifted back to that afternoon, it was like her skull was stabbed with needles. She couldn't recall the memories, not exactly, not in order, but the feelings were still there. How scared she'd felt, how she'd been sure she was going to die.

Letting out a breath, Nora rubbed the arm that Nona had mended for her. She was sure that her friend had healed it perfectly, but shooting pains originated from where the break had occurred and it numbed her entire side. She jumped again at another knock and quickly jumped to her feet. Damn it, damn it.

"Coming!" she called out, searching for her robes. Nora pulled some decent looking clothes on and clambered to the door. She peered through the peephole and cursed. Orion was always so--ergh! A quick glance into a mirror showed that her hair was a complete disaster, so she hurriedly tied it into a braid. She opened the door and let out a breath.

"You didn't have to," she said honestly, feeling guilty for making him come out this way.
