Theo!
Her heels had disappeared a long time ago. Holly let out a breath as she shut the door to the guest room behind her, wondering how she'd made it into her house in near complete silence with Thomas McCormack literally hanging onto her. Merlin's pants, this was not how she expected this evening to go, but Holly was first and foremost a teammate, and had taken on the the role tonight. She listened at the door to make sure she didn't hear him moving about, hoping that the sleeping potion she'd forced down his throat would go into effect quickly. When she didn't hear anything, Holly started down the hallway toward the master bedroom. She stopped midway, however, and looked into Theodore's room. Holly hesitated for a moment, but then entered.

The little boy was sound asleep. She gently sat on the edge of the bed and looked him over, smoothing down his hair. She'd loved this boy before she'd loved her husband, she was sure. It had almost been instant and Holly was sure she'd never honestly cared for someone like she had immediately grown to care for Theodore. Being with Thomas and seeing what he'd gone through tonight made her want to hold her son and never let go.

Holly sucked in a breath, surprising herself as tears struck her eyes. If anything ever happened to Theodore, or...She turned at the sound of footsteps, and wiped at her eyes when she saw Theo standing in the door way.

"I was just---checking on him," she said, looking down and wincing at the very glittery dress she was still wearing.

Theo found himself at a loss once he realized that his wife had up and left him at her party without a word. Ditching parties was something that they did together. He sipped his drink slowly, then the one he had had been getting for Holly when she disappeared. What was he suppose to do with this turn of events? How long did she expect him to wait around for her return? It wasn't like he knew very many people at this event, but Theo was never any good at small talk. He didn't care to know how so and so had knocked up whoever and that was dramatic for reasons.

He had stayed for as long as he could stand it before leaving for home, the Nanny wisely biding him a good night with out a word on him returning alone, though he could see the questioning look he got before she skittered out the door. Snatching the Evening Prophet from table, Theo made his way to the lounge trying his best not to be bitter. With Theodore asleep, he had nothing better to do than to wait.

At some point after reading the prophet and moving onto a book Holly had left out, he must have fallen asleep. On his own, Theo had never been much of a deep sleeper, and being as he was on the couch (and wasn't he too fucking old for that) didn't help much either. Light shuffling and opening and closing of doors stirred easily woke him. He frowned as he checked his watch, making his way down the hall, anger settling deep in his stomach. What sort of hour was this? What--Who could keep her out this late?

Pausing at his son's open door, Theo found Holly still in her beautiful gown perched on the edge of the bed. There was something about the whole scene that ebbed his emotions. "Hasn't made a sound all night," he commented quietly shoving his hands into the pockets of his robes he never bothered to change out of. Looking from his son to his wife, he turned from the doorway. He didn't want to wake Theodore, and Holly could follow when she was ready.

She tugged Theodore's blanket up to his chin to make sure he was warm before standing, taking in a few breaths before following her husband out the room. It had to be at least four in the morning, and that was probably being generous. This looked terrible, she knew that, but Theo had to trust that she hadn't been up to no good. Those days were far behind her, but as she entered the sitting room where Theo had ended up, she still felt confused as to what to say.

It wasn't her place to share her captain's secrets, but this was her husband, he had a right to know where she'd been, even if he hadn't asked. He was probably about to, but Holly wrung her hands, knowing that he deserved an explanation with out a fight. Holly opened her mouth to begin to explain, but found herself at a loss for words.

"Damn it," she said, voice cracking with tears. Holly had never anticipated becoming so close to her teammates as she had never formed great bonds with her past teams, but this season had been different. All of the Arrows had gone through so much, and maybe that was what had brought them the cup. She cared about all of them, and being the oldest it had always felt like they'd come to her for advice and help, and she'd found herself tapping into some maternal instincts usually reserved for quiet times with Theodore.

Bloody hell, it felt like it was one of her own children in miserable pain just down the hall. Holly's face screwed up as she tried not to cry, and she began to pull the pins out of her hair to distract herself.

"I had to take McCormack to the hospital," she said, running her fingers through her hair to get the ridiculous curls out. "He's in the guest room."

He didn't have to wait long for Holly to follow him, the was no point in bothering to sit again. He itched to ask where she was, what was so important that it required her attention so immediately that she couldn't even say goodbye. But Holly had never once given Theo a reason not to trust her, though suspicious by nature, he couldn't even bring himself to believe that she was up to something remotely--- tawdry.

Seeing her near tears though, Theo wasn't sure what he was suppose to do with that. The only time he had seen her cry was only days before when her team had won the cup. If someone had made her cry, well, not all of his connections were lost. Waiting patiently for her to speak first he made his feet take steps to close the distance between the two of them.

"Is he alright?" he asked reaching out to pull a pin that Holly had missed, toying with the curl that fell. "Is there anything that needs to be taken care of?"

Holly shook her head, involuntarily leaning into Theo's touch. McCormack was strong, she was sure he was going to get through this even though it would be hard. Holly hated that she had been dragged into the middle of it, she hated this feeling of actually caring, but what she hated the most was the fears that had risen up inside of her as she watched her captain seemingly lose everything in one fell swoop.

Her expression cracked, losing the battle against her tears. Holly looked up at Theo, before she could think she flung herself into his chest. "You're not allowed to die!"

It was all she'd been able to think about. She and Theo did not have the most traditional of marriages, she was sure that there were some people who would even be surprised that either of them was married with how they behaved in public, but she did truly love him. Thinking about Thomas losing this woman, whatever their connection was, caused a tightening in Holly's chest that she'd never felt before. She didn't know what she would do if she'd been in a situation where Theo was...

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she blubbered, knowing that it was the lack of sleep adding to her emotional state. "His girlfriend died and I couldn't stop thinking about what if something happened to you or Theodore and I can't---you've got to promise me!"

Somewhere in her head she knew it was silly to ask, to demand, but the sun was rising and she hadn't slept in what felt like days, and the image of Theo lying dead in a hospital bed was all Holly could manage to see.

Theo froze as Holly buried her face in his chest, tears staining his robes. Tears, as she demanded he promise he wouldn't die. What a ridiculous promise, everyone died. Theo was intimately familiar with that particular fact of life. She had no idea how lucky he was just to make it this far in life. But her pleas made him feel-- it made-- was this what guilt felt like? Guilty for his past, that his wife had no clue about yet hover there never really gone or forgotten.

After a stuttered moment, he wrapped his arms around Holly, pulling her close to him resting his chin a top her head while he tried to sooth her. "That is a silly thing to promise." He said finally, rubbing her back softly. "But, I'm not going anywhere."

The war was over. Death Eaters had all gone back to 'normal' lives with the exception of those who were stupid enough to get caught. With the Dark Lord dead, well there was nothing to be concerned about. Nothing to stop him from spending the rest of his days with this woman who actually made him think about something other than himself. "You're stuck with me now. The kid too. Crying won't get you out of it, sorry to say."
