Posted for this Friday!

It had been a long, long year for St. Mungo's.

Mark stood with a long flute of champagne in one hand, taking slow, deep breaths. The rearing of the ugly virus' head had given the year a bad, bad start, but here they were. Lives had been lost, but so many had been saved. Mark felt bittersweet about celebrating the year, but he knew events like this needed to be held to keep the hospital running. The donations were used to buy new supplies, potion remedies, and to provide for better training for their healers. Everything was being spun into a positive manner, Mark just wished that it didn't have to be such a lavish event to do so.

"Do you think it's too much?" he said to his wife, looking down at Hannah with a worried smirk. If anything, the night provided a reason for his wife to doll herself and look even more fantastic than she normally did. They deserved a night out, especially now that their trio of children was complete.

She was sure she was more surprised to hear that he didn't have a date than he was when it had become clear that she had come alone. Since their divorce, Seth had gone through a couple of different girlfriends, or at the very least was usually seen hanging around with beautiful women - then again a lot of her information came from the gossip magazine she used to work for, and while she hated believing what she read in tabloids, she could never be too sure when it came to Seth. She could never be too sure of anything with him; whenever she thought she had him figured out, he went and changed the game. Now he was apparently focusing on 'more important things' than women.

Was this really Seth Wadcock standing in front of her?

"You've finally come to that realization, have you?" she teased, offering him a small smirk. If this conversation had been taking place a few months ago, back before she had started speaking with him again, she wouldn't have been able to talk about the fact that he had reached his 'limit' when it came to women who were willing to put up with him. She had been willing to put up with him, so it was hard for her to be surprised about him reaching his quota. When her drink was finally placed in front of her, she went to open her clutch to rummage for the coins to pay for it, but noticed that Seth had already done so. She turned to him, offering a quiet thank you before she took a sip of the wine. She normally preferred red, but she was afraid of accidentally spilling some onto her dress and ruining it. That would have been her luck, so she played it safe to prevent public humiliation.

When the familiar song began to play and he asked her to dance, she hesitated for a moment. She was surprised that he remembered that she liked it, to be honest - she wasn't really sure he had ever been paying attention while they were married. Looking out onto the dance floor, she thought about the offer a second longer before she turned to look at him.

"I'd like that, actually." It was better than sitting around by herself all night, sipping on wine while everyone else danced with their significant other. She took one more sip of her drink before placing it down on the bar top, clearing her hands so that she could follow him out onto the dance floor.

Seth grinned as he held his arm out to lead Savannah out to the dance floor. They fell easily into place as they swayed to the tune. One dance turned into two, then two into four and somewhere along the line Seth had completely lost track of the time and it was nearing the end of the evening.

As the music to the the last song faded, stepped back just a touch, tucking a stray bit of hair behind Savannah's ear. How had he forgotten what this was like. The past few hours had been just as they were back before. Before Montrose, before Leanne, before he fell out of love with her.

But in this exact moment, Seth wasn't entirely sure that he had, because those feelings were certainly rushing back to him now that the space they had so carefully kept between the two of them was shrinking. Maybe he didn't fall out of love at all, and things had just gotten hard once the honeymoon phase faded. And Seth avoided anything that required real work like the plague up until recently.

Once the hair was securely behind her ear, Seth trailed his hand under her chin tilting it up slightly to make it easier for him to steal a soft kiss. He couldn't help himself, he had to know if that would also feel like it once did.

Pulling back, Seth tried to decipher the shocked look on her face. He should say something. Apologize for invading her space, being too forward? Anything but just stand there staring back. "I would apologize, but I'm trying to avoid lying these days."
