Posted for this Friday!

It had been a long, long year for St. Mungo's.

Mark stood with a long flute of champagne in one hand, taking slow, deep breaths. The rearing of the ugly virus' head had given the year a bad, bad start, but here they were. Lives had been lost, but so many had been saved. Mark felt bittersweet about celebrating the year, but he knew events like this needed to be held to keep the hospital running. The donations were used to buy new supplies, potion remedies, and to provide for better training for their healers. Everything was being spun into a positive manner, Mark just wished that it didn't have to be such a lavish event to do so.

"Do you think it's too much?" he said to his wife, looking down at Hannah with a worried smirk. If anything, the night provided a reason for his wife to doll herself and look even more fantastic than she normally did. They deserved a night out, especially now that their trio of children was complete.

She settled her shoulders back as Iwan spoke, trying to will herself to relax. Rationally, she knew that she was right - she shouldn't be stressing out. She'd be able to find something well within her price range, and then she'd settle in to having to cook her own meals and run her own laundry and -- ugh.

She was about to speak about how having him with her would at least make it easier to sense entrapment if potential landlords were going to try and swindle her when he suggested that she stay with him. She froze up, chewing on her lip.

"Oh, I wouldn't want to be a bother like that." The one thing she couldn't tell him was exactly why, at least not right now -- the Order had never been something for casual discussion. Although they were dating, she didn't think the Death Eaters would go after a high-profile quidditch player -- unless he was physically living with her. How did she explain her (somewhat justified) paranoia about his safety without spilling the beans?

"I -- yeah, I don't think that's a good idea."

Iwan felt his imaginary feathers get ruffled, but he kept a straight face. He was being bold, especially for him, but her answer didn't seem like a definite no. Did she really believe she'd be a bother? Marissa could never.

"You wouldn't be!" he said in a soft, but cheerful tone. Iwan felt the worry radiating off of her, but it couldn't be because she thought he'd get sick of her or something, right? No, no. Iwan was a nervous wreck for most of his life because of the deplorable behavior of his parents and his McKinley half-siblings, and only managed to make it out of there with some sort of sense because Sophie and Mason didn't find him a bother.

He scooted his chair forward to face Marissa, grinning, "It could be fun. Season's almost over...lots of late mornings stuck in bed...I know we haven't been dating for long, but..." Iwan felt his ears go red, and he reached out and touched the ends of Marissa's fiery locks. "We're good for each other. We can be good for a while."

Of course this was going to be one of the few things that Iwan was going to be stubborn about. She knew that he was just trying to help, and the idea of waking up next to him every morning for a while wasn't exactly -- unpleasant, but then he'd have to know all the terrible things that she felt she could keep to herself when she was living at home.

She let her head tip into his hand and snorted, trying to brush the irritation irrationally boiling in her stomach down. She acted confident and outspoken all the time, but that didn't mean she wasn't just covering up some of her deeper-seated issues. She couldn't do that if they were together all the time like that, and she'd -- just end up screwing it up.

"No, you're good for me. I --" she paused, tempted to say that she just put people in danger. That sounded ridiculous, of course. "I'm no good for anyone, really." She hadn't been able to support Sturgis in the way he'd needed when they'd been dating, and what had she been able to do for her family? Nothing but leech off them and put them in danger. She felt stupid, so stupid for feeling like this. Marissa knew she'd gotten lucky during the war, but sometimes -- sometimes it didn't feel that way.

Startled was an understatement. Iwan felt like he could fall out of his chair at Marissa's accusation. She wasn't good for anyone? Did she not see how different of a man he was now that she was in his life? It was remarkable to him, his teammates pointed it out all the time!

"Marissa," Iwan said, unable to hide his surprise. He let out a nervous laugh, looking very confused. "You've changed the way I live my life. You've changed me for the better, I---darling, I don't know how you could possibly think you're no good for..."

Iwan rarely felt the need to be bold or brave. The Tornadoes had helped him become a stronger person, but the most drastic of change in his life had come from being with Marissa. She was a fire in his life that was constantly burning and making him move faster and harder, made him be better. He had to make her see that, even if she didn't want to move in with him, she was still a positive, wonderful light in his life.

"I love you," he said clearly, honestly. "And that's not going to change any time soon. Whether you move in or not, I just want you to know that."
