Posted for this Friday!

It had been a long, long year for St. Mungo's.

Mark stood with a long flute of champagne in one hand, taking slow, deep breaths. The rearing of the ugly virus' head had given the year a bad, bad start, but here they were. Lives had been lost, but so many had been saved. Mark felt bittersweet about celebrating the year, but he knew events like this needed to be held to keep the hospital running. The donations were used to buy new supplies, potion remedies, and to provide for better training for their healers. Everything was being spun into a positive manner, Mark just wished that it didn't have to be such a lavish event to do so.

"Do you think it's too much?" he said to his wife, looking down at Hannah with a worried smirk. If anything, the night provided a reason for his wife to doll herself and look even more fantastic than she normally did. They deserved a night out, especially now that their trio of children was complete.

Her brother Charlie, her brother Charlie's team. Matthew kept his look of realization at a minimum as he put together the clues. Delilah Spinnet? Spinnet, as in Charlie, as in the Keeper that caused Drystan to crush things in his grasp. Lovely. Kendall must be lurking in the shadows, smothering his cackling laugh. Though, really, it wasn't Delilah's fault that her brother was the bane of one of his best friend's existence. Besides, she looked too good in that dress of hers for Matt to care about some wee little detail like Charlie Spinnet.

"I am indeed," he said with a humble nod, clasping his hands behind his back. He'd been in the league for a long while, but it was only these past two seasons that anyone would bother to learn his name. It was still taking some getting used to, and being the guy to replace the legendary Finn McLaggen (the title had been drilled into Matt's head by the legend himself), well---it was a tough season to get through.

"I'm the United's seeker," he said, taking his hands from behind his back to put his arm out for Delilah. "But I'm sure you do something way more interesting than chase little flying balls around."

"I can barely fly let alone play quidditch, yet somehow I keep ending up on the Celebrity team during All-Stars. I'm a dueler, not sure it qualifies as more interesting and I've been told I can natter on about it long enough to bore pretty much any one so." She waves her arm absently. Delilah also didn't really know how to talk about it without sounding like she was bragging (okay most times she actually was) and she didn't want to come off as egotistical in the first five minutes of their date.

Looping her arm in with Matt's she let him lead her into the party. Once inside, Delilah faltered slightly catching sight of the Mungo's seal hanging on the wall bringing back a flood of memories from the disaster of a night the charity dinner had been. She did allow herself to wallow though. Delilah was perfectly capable of going out on a simple blind date without letting her past complicate it. And she most certainly had not been spending the last six months hiding from anything that could potentially turn romantic. Henry was on a date, (not jealous, she set him up after all) and if he could manage a blind date, then there was no reason she couldn't either. This should be easy.

"Stupid shoes." She said with a small nervous laugh to cover for her pause, her heart still racing a bit. "Outstanding footing on the dueling platform, yet still can't manage to walk in a simple pair of heels. Anyways. Seeker for United? That's impressive. Didn't they win the cup last season?" Delilah continued please that she knew that much about the team her date played for.

"Ah, I wasn't their seeker last year," Matt said with a shrug, scrunching one eye in faux-embarrassment. Not that he really had much to do with it, but usually a question like that was followed with an explanation that his former team was the Chudley Cannons and he'd left them high and dry to win a cup. That he might not win. Because playing for the United was the scariest bloody thing he'd ever done. "But we're shooting for a repeat."

He winked, and decided that a change of subject would keep this evening from going in the wrong direction. Matt looked her over, examining the glittery, silky dress drape over her feet. It really was a stunning dress, he felt a bit under dressed next to her. Odette had kept him sleek and sophisticated with his new robes, but it felt too plain next to Delilah.

"Take off the shoes then, who's going to notice?" Matt suggested with a shrug. "It'd help your feet and my ego, you're nearly as tall as me with them on."

Wasn't it impressive to be playing for a team that won a cup at all? Well, unless it was decades ago, but that was besides the point. "I'd wish you luck, but I blindly root for the Kestrels unless I've got a good reason to defect. And I just don't know you that well yet." She teased, giving him a smile. "Although I've heard Charlie bitch about the united enough to know you'll at least give him a run for his money."

Delilah hummed at his suggestion, considering it carefully. She really had no issue continuing to wear the shoes and it was still very early in the night, but she wasn't going to pass up an opportunity not to wear heels. "Alright, come here, I'm going to need your help." she said detangling her arm from his and turning to face him. She already almost feel once trying to put the shoes back on, she wasn't going to risk it again. Putting a hand on Matt's shoulder to balance, she realized that he was right, with the heels she was practically eye level with him. He had pretty eyes, it was going to be a shame that she wouldn't have a direct sight of them anymore.

It took her a moment to fumble with the fabric of her dress to reach her shoe, she swore it was too long but the witch who sold it to her insisted it was suppose to be that way. Stupid really, having a hemline that dropped below your feet even in heels. Then again, Delilah could call herself stupid because she just had to have it because it was so shiny. Also she looked fabulous in it, and that was worth it.

Shoes finally off, Delilah dropped a few inches flat on her feet. "There we go. Happy feet. Happy egos." She wrapped her arm back in his. "Although, your ego had nothing to worry about in the first place, just so you know."

Matt had forgotten how much he liked to dance. It seemed like every song that came on was one he knew, or at least knew the chorus of, and he was glad that his date was someone who was not shy about belting out lyrics whether they were the right or wrong ones. He loved his friends dearly, but sometimes (just sometimes) they could be great sticks in the mud. Delilah was a ball of energy, however, and Matt was glad that he was able to keep up.

The dessert trays were rolled out, and Matt and Delilah found themselves perched upon the top of the grand staircase they had all made their entrance through. Matt was sure that his trainer's head would fall off if he caught him eating the ridiculous sugar concoction that rested atop of a chocolate dipped cone.

"Yeah, so---I went from barely having a room to Hogwarts," he said, spinning the cone around. He was far more open about his orphanage history now that The Tattler had run the story for everyone to see. Matt, like the true Hufflepuff he was, had taken it in stride and was currently working with his agent to start a charity for those who had found themselves in a situation like his.

"People joke that I've got rainbows shooting out my eyes, but, I mean," Matt waved his free hand around. "I used to imagine there was magic and a place to escape from everything and---here it is."

Matt let the thought sit for a moment before he let out a loud laugh, "That wasn't meant to come out as philosophical as it did, I'm sorry."

Delilah didn't know what she had originally expected from tonight and her date with the super nice Hufflepuff boy but this certianly wasn't it. She hadn't had this much fun just dancing and being silly in ages. And somewhere between dinner and dancing Delilah found herself feeling comfortable enough to just stop being concerned about what everyone else may or may not be thinking about her.

She ate her desert, legs stretched out on the stairs so her toes peaked out from the bottom of her dress. She was glad she ditched her shoes so early in the evening. She listened to Matt speak intently, and uninterrupted. She had known about Hogwarts since she was old enough to comprehend such a thing and couldn't imagine anything different. It was like like he was living one of those muggle fairy tales and he got his happily ever after in the best way possible because Hogwarts was just about the best place on earth. Perhaps that made him some sort of prince charming, it would certainly explain why he was so sweet.

"No! Don't apologize. It was-- poetic? I don't know. You should give motivational speeches or something. Or lessons in optimism. I'm not really known for my tact, and saying that, I think its kinda amazing. You and your rainbow eyes. Honestly its a bit contagious and it makes me want to sit here all night talking about anything and everything." She took bite of her dessert tinging slightly as she realized how her words could be taken.

"Anyways. I suppose it's my turn to share." Delilah said brightly putting her dish off to the side. "What do you want to know, ask me anything."

Matt took on a thoughtful expression. A blind date upped the level of surprise a first date should have by a thousand. He had come in to this night with a million different scenarios about how it could've gone. Kendall knew him well, better than most people, but both of their track records with women wasn't the best. Thankfully, though, this night had gone far better than he had expected. At least he thought so.

He turned to Delilah with a smile, his dessert gone and finished. She really did look spectacular. Matt couldn't imagine a girl who find him anything but ordinary, but as his ego wasn't as frail as he had earlier suggested, he could assume a little bit that she had enjoyed herself tonight.

"On a scale of one to ten, how was our first date?" he said, his smirk quite telling that he was simply asking the question as bait. His ego wasn't frail, but it didn't mean that it didn't like to be inflated.

Delilah leaned back on her palms turning to take a good look at the man that was her date. Oh. That was a good question. She hadn't even thought it over yet. Normally she didn't think it through until she was retelling the events to Nora, taking into account her opinion. She hummed slightly taking her gaze to the empty space in front of her.

"Well." She made as if she were tallying up marks in the air, every so often looking to Matt out of the corner of her eye. She hummed the tune of one of the songs they had dance to lightly as she went about with her pretend calculations. How would she rate this night? Obviously pretty high, but which number should she choose? Seven? Eight? Nine? It made her smile that he had said 'our first date'. Certainly that meant there was the potential of another one soon. That in itself added a point or two. She would definitely be keen to repeat this evening. Matt made her laugh. And he didn't at all make her feel stupid or silly or out of place.

"Eight point five." Delilah finally settled on after her deliberation. She turned giving him a grin, bumping her shoulder with his. "But The night's not over yet, I could see you finishing with a solid nine."
