Hogsmeade Quidditch Weekend! Open to All!
Charlie was literally bouncing around like a school kid. How was he so keen on the ways of excited, shriek-filled Hogwarts students? Why, he was surrounded by a gaggle of them! Bouncing, the lot of them, and all donned in red and gold! It was a beautiful sight, really, and it made the slightly overcast day seem bright and sunny and warm. He wanted to hug each and every one of those kids, so he did and it was a good feeling to be recognized as some 'Gryffindor Hero!' A Gryffindor Hero! Legend, some were saying. Some teeny, tiny voice in the back of Charlie's head knew that legend, even hero was pushing it a bit far, but he would happily accept the compliments because they made him feel damn special.

He hadn't been much of a standout in school, popular enough not to lurk around the corridors without anyone noticing you were there, but he was no quidditch captain or head boy. He was just Charlie, and even if his quidditch fame and popularity had skyrocketed these past few years, he was still very much in awe of the fact that people could be impressed by him.

"All right, all right!" he laughed, prying off the clamped fingers of a young third year girl's off his arm. "I'll be back, I promise!"

There was a chorus of moans, but soon the group had spotted yet another player to lay their tremendous excitement and focus on, and Charlie was free. He bounded down the pavement, Gryffindor scarf proudly flapping in the wind behind him, and dropped down onto a wooden bench beside his very Hufflepuff-y girlfriend.

"The kids," he said, waving his hand out toward the crowd before dropping it down onto the back of the bench behind Penelope, "They dig me."

Jaysus, Mary, and Merlin, she was going to ruin his dessert.

Iwan had managed to count six Nimbuses, four Shooting Stars, and a couple of Bluebells before Marissa had snapped his attention from the decorations. He felt the usual nervousness that overwhelmed him when it came to speaking to females, and he did his best to remember the advice West had given him over the course of this past season. Rule one was to ignore everything that Martin Boot said, and rule number two was to focus on the task at hand.

Squinting a bit in thought, he looked her over. She had the frame of a seeker, long and limber much like himself, but with her attitude and gumption, he couldn't imagine she'd have the attention span to circle the pitch for what could be hours at a time.

"Lassie," he said, having noticed her distinct northern accent. His Irish brogue worked strangely along with her tone. Iwan felt just enough confidence with his decision and moved to lean forward on the table. "You're most definitely a chaser."

On the pitch and off, it seemed.

Aha, so he was paying attention - on several levels, evidently, with his slight change in phrasing. It pleased her immensely that her little question had both gotten a reaction out of him and ended with him getting the right answer. It had given him ample time to look her over without being -- well, skeevy about it, and that was a bit the point. At his answer, she nodded firmly.

"You've caught me. Must've been all the time growing up with the dragons, according to m'sister. Running 'round and picking up eggs." She let her own accent thicken just a little -- judging from his, he'd be able to understand her well enough. Not like some of the girls at the office who complained about not being able to understand a bloody thing she said when she went off on a rant about experimental charms.

"I think that right answer earns you a drink."

His smile widened with intrigue and amusement. Dragon eggs? What was she doing growing up around dragons and playing with their eggs? She said it so nonchalantly that Iwan found it hard to think that 'raising dragons' could be a made up pickup line. Though, he supposed that if he rattled off that he was the starting seeker for the Tornadoes, it might seem like he was trying to pull her leg either. He didn't hold himself like most players in the league did and didn't dare try to.

"A drink sounds great," he said with a nod, pushing the plate of desserts to the center of the table. It was the least he could do, and if it meant getting her to stick around for a little longer, than that worked too. With Iwan's lack of skills, it was not above him to drag a girl in with sweets.

"Though, I should probably get your name before I start accepting alcohol, yeah?"

She supposed it didn't hurt to give him her name now that she was relatively sure he wasn't going to outright reject her. She was sure that if he'd been a womanizer, she'd remember reading about it in the Tattler (whether it was true or not). She offered her hand to him (carefully not the golden one, because it didn't seem fair to freak the poor bloke out like that when they hadn't even snogged yet).

"Marissa. And you're..." She couldn't help the slight pause while she considered who he might be. There were very few players in the league she didn't at least recognize by face, and even fewer that she thought had been in Slytherin. "...Iwan, right?" Hopefully her guess had been spot-on, or she'd look a bit silly.
