He was glad that she didn't question his motives and let out a metaphorical breath. Henry, while managing to get himself out into the world of work and, like today, somewhat socially, was not handling the transition of single parenthood quite well. Or at all. With the season underway next week, Henry could hardly ask his brother to watch Brandon, and while his mother said she would take his son whenever he wished, he knew that her poignant stares were soon going to turn into lectures about how Henry needed to make his son a priority.

Bran made him---there were moments when all he wanted was to feel his son's soft breaths on his neck as he rocked him to sleep, times when the sound of the baby's laughter made his heart swell with an indescribable joy. But then there were instances when a flash of a smile from Bran shocked Henry, his smile was Heidi's, his eyes crinkled in the same manner. One smile would cause him to crumble again and he couldn't even bear to look at him.

So---he was being selfish, and a terrible father, but Delilah didn't need to know that. Henry waved a lofty hand, "It'll be good, I promise. When have I ever let you down?"
