"I am not pretending," Therese said quickly, looking and sounding quite offended. "Do they not have this saying in England?" She made sure that her French accent was in full effect, and she stared in a puzzled fashion at the man.
If she had not been so focused on stealing his candy for her darling Goldstein boys, she would have noticed earlier that he was very handsome. It was surprising that he was standing here alone, or were the candies for his out-of-sight female companion? Not the time and place for such thoughts, as she had Anthony and Elijah (an herself) to think of. She simply needed to convince him that he did not want that last box of taffy, and instead of going the easy route by explaining it was for the children, she found herself playing a mind game.
She had far too much time on her hands, these days.
"Le blaireau fou va perdre ce combat," she said muttered solemnly, announcing to anyone who spoke French in the area that 'the badger was going to lose this fight.'
"The saying, it is, 'Seuls les hommes docile manger des bonbons docile.'" Therese waited for a reaction, then let out a breath, "It means, 'Only soft men eat soft candies."
Therese grimaced, eyes darting over to the box, "The taffy, it is très soft, non?"
