There was a point in Theo’s life where he hated going to any sort of social gathering. Now, with Holly, it had become something sort of a thing. It wasn’t quite as unbearable when you were with someone who held such frivolous pleasantries and making nice for the sake of being polite in the same distaste. Earlier in the evening, he would have quite possibly even admitted that he was enjoying himself had Holly asked.

Then he went to refill his drink and then suddenly it was no longer just his wife’s teammates plus a few others. The rooftop was filled with hardly anyone he recognized, let alone knew. Theo wasn’t even sure half of them had even graduated from Hogwarts. It didn’t take very long for him to grow tired of the crowd. Lucky for him, Holly had a low tolerance for such shenanigans as well. It wasn’t too late for them to go for a quiet drink, just the two of them.

Except when he finally made his way back to where he had left her, instead of finding her waiting for him ready to leave, Holly was still highly engrossed in a conversation as Felicia shuffled a deck of cards. He debated for a minute whether or not to make his desire to leave known. In the end deciding it wouldn’t kill him to stay a little longer if Holly was having a good time. Taking a sip of his drink, he turned to go find himself a quiet corner.

Not one normally concerned with his age, he definitely felt old standing off to the side nursing his drink. Just witnessing what he supposed they considered dancing and general drunken shenanigans made his skin itch. Theo’s brow raised slightly at the question pulling him from his zoned out state. One he wasn’t even going to bother answering. He wasn’t sure how much time had passed before Holly came to find him, but it was certainly long enough to be knocked into more than a few times, for someone to drop their drink on his shoes, and form a dull head ache from the loud music.

Instead of complaining, Theo offered Holly the best smile he could manage, leaning forward to give her a small quick kiss on her temple. “Me, glum? Never. Did you win your game of Exploding Snap?”
