Kendall winced. He hadn't meant to say that aloud, too late to take it back now. He hoped more than he hoped for anything before that she Rose was right. There was plenty of time before May. The off season was far from over and Thomas would be back. But if it was anything like the last time, well, Kendall didn't want to think about last time. The best case scenario was still far from good.
He covered his face with his hands. "Sorry," he muttered, the apology garbled through his hands. He pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes until small spots appeared. He needed to be better than this. Thomas had been kidnapped and here he was picking fights with the only friend he had feeling the same hurt he was.
Sitting up he looked over to Rose. Honestly, things hadn't been the same between them ever since their big fight the previous year, whether or not either of them admitted it. "I have been unfair to you and not just today." Just because he felt he wasn't in the wrong didn't make it right. And he should never had let it go this long, let it take this long for him to just let it go.
Where was his Hufflepuff loyalty?
"I am sorry that you felt it necessary to have to go to such lengths for a vacation. I should have been a better friend."
