Delilah wobbled severely when she lost her support as Max dropped to the ground. She counted it as a major success that she remained standing. Looking back to Nora, she found her parakeet was shaking his head at her in great disappointment.
She had been doing so well in not letting her friend find out that she was feeling a bit under the weather. She certainly didn't want Nora to worry, she had enough to worry about with her boyfriend and his crew missing. Delilah frowned at herself as she failed to dodge Nora's hand that rested on her cheek to test for a fever.
"Look at you, done and got yourself caught didn't you," the bird chirped fluttering from Nora's shoulder to her own. Delilah didn't know parakeets could look so disapproving.
"No, I didn't," she protested weakly, willing herself to pull away from Nora's hand. Even though she really didn't want to at all. It felt great resting there, almost made her want to close her eyes and take a quick nap. She shook the thought from her head and brushed the stupid bird away from her shoulder. "I am fine. I just--- I didn't sleep well last night. So I'm a bit tired."
"Liar," the parakeet chimed in now taking perch atop Max's head.
"Hush it." Delilah bit out giving the bird a fierce glare before returning her attention back to Nora. "Let's just keep looking. We're too close to give up now."
