For New Year's Eve!

Octavius thought, all things considered, this party had come together rather nicely. "All things considered" being the harrowing and oddly personal war Mira and he were currently battling out, and its various distractions. With the amount of sabotage his tricky personal assistant wreaked upon him (and, admittedly, some effects of his own retaliation, because he didn't have eight other siblings for nothing), he thought their end-of-the-year bash might never get off the ground. But the floating candles, the rather superb live, musical entertainment, and the food was proof of the fact that, in spite of the squabbling and havoc occuring at the Wizarding Wireless Network studios, they could still throw a rather excellent party.

He optimistically did not let it get to him that he had brought his sister as a date, and an offhand comment she'd made during one of their lunches had given him a spectacular idea for the grand finale of the night. Five minutes before midnight, the lamps would begin to dim to black as the ceiling turned into a reflection of the night sky. Then would begin the countdown, and at the stroke of midnight, ushering in the new year, a slew of firecrackers would be released over the crowd, all courtesy of some handy and pretty ingenious spellwork. Octavius was getting downright gleeful in anticipation of that.

Nor was he letting get to him the unfortunate fact that Mira and he, spitting claws and all, would be taking a portkey at the arse crack of dawn to Istanbul, for the European Cup beginning on the first (or, tomorrow). Select crew, and even some of the party-goers, were in the same boat, but Octavius had a feeling the sleeplessness would be worth it. Tonight would be a night to remember.

OOC refer here for kissing questions! Or ask me :]

Seth opened his mouth to protest but he was cut off with another kiss. Which he returned with fervor. This could lead to a great evening. Merlin, how he missed this. How he missed her. This was everything he wanted. To fix things with Mira for good. Except that meant-- damn.

"Wait." Seth pulling away. He was going to regret this tomorrow when the sex this could obviously lead to didn't happen, and Michal was going to smack him upside the head if he ever told him but Seth just couldn't. As much as he's like to play it off as a ridiculously long streak of bad breaks and no luck, that wasn't the entire truth. There was a reason he hadn't had sex for a year, even if it took until this moment to realize it. "I'm sorry. As much as I want this, I can't."

So going to regret this. He heaved a great sigh. She wasn't going to understand, but then again he didn't really understand either. "I can't do this if its just going to be one night. I can't handle that. And--and it would cheapen every feeling I've ever had, and do have for you."

Mira tiled her head back and let out a low, frustrated moan. Must he? Since when--- Seth was making it very difficult--- he was not going to stop this simply because--- he couldn't handle it? She withheld her souring face.

"It wouldn't," Mira responded immediately, without thinking. Her free hand ran across his side, subtly hoping that it would distract Seth enough to simply stop talking. And thinking; couldn't he just join her?

It would be a lie to say that she hadn't done a very good job at packing away her feelings for him, because she had. And, Mira had done even better in subduing those feels with the distracting form of Derek Dobbs, but now that Seth was here, now that she was holding onto him tightly, and experiencing how good he felt, how good he tasted, she couldn't deny the deep urge surging through to have him. Just this once--- she needed it.

"Why are you thinking about that?" Mira spoke in her best sultry tone, raising her hand to run her fingers along his jawline briefly. What she wanted wasn't too much to ask. And for him to jump so quickly to the future, what it meant--- that wasn't something she wanted, or even could focus on for mere seconds. What happened to living in the moment?

Her hand clutched the side of his face tightly, and smoothly, Mira arched her heels to speak hotly into his ear. "Yes you can." She would have felt bad for so blatantly attempting to seducing him, but that would require actually stopping and thinking, as opposed to acting immediately on her desires. The hand not grasping his face came around to his chest, and slowly began to run down his front. It eventually came to rest on the clasp of his trousers.

"Seth," she uttered his name in a low, gutted tone. One, she knew, formerly worked very well on getting him to give her want she wanted.

Seth could help but groan at her words. It would be just so much easier for him to give. To just sweep her up in his arms and find a secluded room and reminisce in what once was. It was so very hard to think with her hand there and her voice saying his name like that.

This was not at all the reaction he was expecting. At all. And Mira was making it nearly impossible to resist. How fantastic this night could be. But the morning could be equally terrible. And it was the thought of waking up in the morning and watching her walk away was what kept him grounded.

Knowing exactly how he was going to answer her question, he brushed her hand along her cheek as he looked at her, taking in everything about her. Her hair, her eyes, her lips. Everything before pulling her in and kissing her with every ounce of emotion that he felt. Seth wanted Mira to feel down to her bones how he felt about her with just this one kiss. Because it was very likely this was the very last kiss he was going to get and he wanted to make sure he would never forget it.

He took her hands into his and with great effort pulled back from the kiss. "No." he barely managed to rasp out after. "I really can't."

He looked down at their hands, running his thumbs over her knuckles. "Don't you see what you do to me? Do you have any idea of the hold you have over me? I am thinking about that because I love you Mira. I love you so much that even now I'm not over you. Proof being I still have--" he stopped himself swallowing thickly.

"I'm not over you, or us. I could be, eventually. But if this," he gestured between them, "happens, and I have to watch you walk away tomorrow and act like it meant nothing, it will destroy me."

He dropped one of her hands in favor of brushing her hair from her shoulder, letting his fingers trail across her skin then down her side. Seth wanted to take advantage of every moment he had. "So tell me Mirabelle," he leaned in whispering in her ear. "Does this mean nothing to you? Do you not feel this right here?" he rested his hand over her heart before taking her hand to place it over his. "Because this is what I feel. This is what is important to me."

For a moment, Mira thought he had agreed. That Seth had finally gave in and let go of his silly burdening thoughts to live in the moment. Her heart began to hammer, and her breath grew heavy as she waited for him, waited for him to kiss her and be reminded of what he'd given up.

But then, she couldn't help but think, as he crushed his lips to hers, how it felt like she had given up a bit, too. Her knees grew weak, and Mira had to run her arm over his neck to help keep her standing straight. When had he--- he had never kissed her like that, before. She wasn't sure if she had kissed like that, ever. She would remember something so epic, so imprint worthy, she was sure of it.

And then--- he had to go and ruin it. Immediately, with Seth's first words, Mira's face dropped. No. No? Then what was he doing, why even bother if he was just going to harp further about beyond tonight. She stood, quite stunned for a bit, barely hearing his words over her pounding ears.

She couldn't, wouldn't give him what he wanted. She was no mother, no wife, could barely keep her own life together let alone others within a family unit, couldn't he see that? She couldn't be what he wanted her to be. The only capacity for them to ever working again would be like-- this, and he was straight up refusing it.

She violently untangled herself from him.

"I can't do this," Mira let out, closing her eyes as she snapped her hands out of his. "It doesn't matter what it means," she said shortly, her face contorting almost viciously. If this was what was truly important to him, then would he still be beating at the very issue that broke them apart in the first place? What would make him think anything had changed?

"Seth!" she let out a frustrated noise following his name. Her hands went to her head, and her feet grinded with the ground. "I can't do this right now, I can't just have a serious conversation in the middle of a party, while I'm working, so if you're just---" Mira cut herself off, quickly realizing she couldn't have any more gone back on her intentions. There was time for sex but not a talk of their future? He would hound in on that, and she really didn't want to hear it.

"I can't do this," she finished, pushing him back as she pulled away.

There it was. She might as well have admitted that she felt it too. He was making a point, and if he let her run away now. They would just have to start all over again. It would be best to settle this now.

"It's after midnight. There is no way you are still working." he closed the gap she just created between them. He shouldn't, after everything he just said he really shouldn't, but leaned in and kissed her again. This time slow and tenderly. Being this close to her, he couldn't help himself.

"Come with me. Let's fix this. Us." He trailed his fingers down her side. "I miss you. Remember how great things were before?" He couldn't take his eyes off her and there was no way he was walking away first. He couldn't, not unless she outright sent him away.

He pressed his forehead to hers. This was his last chance. All or nothing. "Tell me you don't feel this. How right we are. Convince me that you feel nothing and I will walk away."

Her eyes snapped open, and even though she continued to let Seth kiss her, Mira did everything else in her power to stop it. She put her hands to his chest to resist him, leaned back as he pushed forward, thinking rather maliciously that it was her bloody party which meant she was, technically, always working, and she closed her mouth to not let him advance any further.

"We had too many problems for you to be asking all this of me," Mira spat, roughly removing his hands from her sides. And at least, she felt that was true. Fundamental, different views of their relationship differences, and she just... couldn't overlook them if he was going to stipulate the night going any further with them.

"I can't just--" she fell back, to at the very least keep him an arm's length. "You can't just ask me to start a relationship with you again just because you miss me." Mira shook her head. No, no, they had broken up for a reason, he had broken up with her for a reason, and it seemed evident that nothing had changed on his part, and she knew nothing had changed her mind, either.

"How do I know you've changed? How do you know I've changed?" As she spoke, her voice got heated, and her hands balled into fists. "You don't. So if you can't just let this happen now without only thinking about tomorrow then---" Mira threw up her hands, thinking it a no better way to express what she was saying.

"I still can't move in with you, I'm not going to stop talking to every single wizard in all of Great Britain just because you don't like them---" she began to tick points off with her finger, but suddenly gave up in a fit. Why was she even bothering? Mira shook her head fiercely, and threw her hands down to her sides before rounding to attempt at disappearing in the dissipating crowd.

Seth let her push him away, knowing that he probably had gone too far. His apology died on the tip of his tongue as soon as she started speaking. Missing someone meant you cared about them. It meant that there was something there that wasn't ready to be let go of. Missing someone was a perfectly legitimate reason to ask to rekindle a relationship. Perhaps not where they left it, and with some obvious changes. He wasn't stupid. He didn't expect for them to pick up right where he left off. And she made it very clear that she wasn't ready to move in and Seth had been ready to compromise on that as well. But if she wasn't even going to give him a chance before she cut him down again it wasn't worth it.

"So you'll have sex with me, but having an adult conversation about where we stand is out of the question? And yet I get painted as the immature one in this relationship." Seth bit out bitterly at her words, stepping around her to block her path. "Its not like I'm asking you to marry me, or even move in anymore. I just wanted you to talk to me, to see if we could make this work." He sighed running his hand through his hair. This was a disaster and was clearly going the way of every other conversation they've tried to have this past year.

Here was his proof Mira hadn't changed at all. It was just like her to want to walk out when things didn't go her way. He should known better than to start this with her. "You know what. Nevermind. Walk away." Seth said resigned, stepping out of her path gesturing for her to continue on. "You obviously have no desire to hear me out anyways. And even if you did, you would probably just twist it into something malicious."
