For New Year's Eve!

Octavius thought, all things considered, this party had come together rather nicely. "All things considered" being the harrowing and oddly personal war Mira and he were currently battling out, and its various distractions. With the amount of sabotage his tricky personal assistant wreaked upon him (and, admittedly, some effects of his own retaliation, because he didn't have eight other siblings for nothing), he thought their end-of-the-year bash might never get off the ground. But the floating candles, the rather superb live, musical entertainment, and the food was proof of the fact that, in spite of the squabbling and havoc occuring at the Wizarding Wireless Network studios, they could still throw a rather excellent party.

He optimistically did not let it get to him that he had brought his sister as a date, and an offhand comment she'd made during one of their lunches had given him a spectacular idea for the grand finale of the night. Five minutes before midnight, the lamps would begin to dim to black as the ceiling turned into a reflection of the night sky. Then would begin the countdown, and at the stroke of midnight, ushering in the new year, a slew of firecrackers would be released over the crowd, all courtesy of some handy and pretty ingenious spellwork. Octavius was getting downright gleeful in anticipation of that.

Nor was he letting get to him the unfortunate fact that Mira and he, spitting claws and all, would be taking a portkey at the arse crack of dawn to Istanbul, for the European Cup beginning on the first (or, tomorrow). Select crew, and even some of the party-goers, were in the same boat, but Octavius had a feeling the sleeplessness would be worth it. Tonight would be a night to remember.

OOC refer here for kissing questions! Or ask me :]

He'd lost Larkin a long while ago, but Ethan knew they hadn't been meant to stick around each other for long. It was just better arriving with someone than strolling in on your lonesome. Still, he figured that he should probably still be around his friend when the clock struck midnight so he made his way through the crowd. Not that he had any idea where Larkin actually was, but it seemed like the team of curse-breakers had developed a knack for finding each other in sticky situations. He'd bumped into Samantha at least four times already and would have said the same about Nico if his mate would ever allow himself to be caught dead wearing dress robes.

Ethan hadn't been to a party like this in a long while. It was good seeing familiar faces and he was glad to finally be back into the swing of things. He kept his injured arm tucked neatly under his jacket and had quite fortunately hadn't had to explain anything to anyone. It seemed like everyone had developed some tact over the past few years.

He stopped in front of the bar to get a drink that he could cheer with as the clock struck midnight. Ethan downed his champagne quickly, looking around to see if there was anyone to kiss (hey, he knew he was a handsome bloke!). Some of the sparkles of fireworks landed on his face and he brushed it off, but soon he couldn’t be bothered with a minor annoyance like that. His eyes locked onto the pretty little bird with the short hair by the bar. Wasting no time, Ethan dropped his glass and strode forward.

Stopping in front of her, his mind a daze, he said with a wicked smile, “I’m going to kiss you now,” and pushed forward to snog her senseless against the bar counter.

Normally she would've been quicker than a fox to slip out from underneath that man's gaze and grasp, but the spirit of the season had apparently taken over her and she had very little desire to do so. In fact, from the brief glance that she'd gotten at very white teeth and the fact that the plaid and stripe combination he was wearing actually seemed to work, he didn't even seem like a waste of her time. She braced herself back against the bar with both hands and tried to muffle her surprise by leaning in to kiss him a little in return, even if she had to push herself up on her toes.

She never thought she'd be thanking her mother for making her take all those years of ballet. Fortunately, she wasn't going to remember to do that tomorrow if she had anything to say about it. Once they'd snogged sufficiently, she leaned back against the bar enough to ... hop up onto it.

"...well, thanks for the -- warning?"
