WHO: Seth Wadcock and Scarlett Rabnott
WHAT: They literally bump into each other at a cafe
WHEN: Sometime before/after a match
STATUS: Finishing in comments
As awesome as it was to be in the playoffs
and on England’s team for the Eurocup, Seth had to admit it was tiring. Extremely so. He had exactly an hour and a half to get from the practice facility in London to the pitch in Falmouth. Which was plenty of time to stop and get coffee and just
sit for a moment. He would have plenty of time get there as long has he left in the next... soon. As long as he left soon.
His nose scrunched up taking a sip of his coffee which at some point had turned cold and sour. Great. He was going to sleep for a week when this month was over.
Focused only on getting fresh coffee he wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings causing him to stumble over his chair as it abruptly stopped moving. And by the time his mind caught up to what was going on, there was coffee on his shirt and the reason his chair stopped moving was a pretty angry looking keeper. “Sorry.
Sorry. I did not see you there. At all.”
Scarlett let out a long breath from her nose, her hands moving quickly to pull the globs of jam and pastry off the front of her shirt while her eyes bore into Seth Wadcock’s.
Well.
“Obviously,” she drawled. Scarlett frowned, finally looking down at the mess he’d created and let out a breath. She pulled her wand, quickly and discreetly, and cleared everything up. Noticing that he had spilled some coffee on himself, Scarlett jabbed the tip of her wand into Seth’s chest and cleaned up the mess there, as well. If she had wanted to get bumped into and have her desserts strewn all over her front and the floor, the fleeting idea to deign herself to a visit to Diagon Alley would have occurred. But, unfortunately for her, Scarlett had chosen the easier route and visited the cafe that was only a short, brisk walk from her flat. She’d needed the fresh air.
Certainly, she had not needed the mess as much as the fresh air, but. Scarlett shook her head, sticking her wand back into her pocket before shifting her purse up onto her shoulder again. She should not be wasting the money on sweets she wasn’t going to eat; she was going to use them to tease their team leader about going against his diet plans because she certainly enjoyed driving him mad. It had felt good for those three minutes to know that she was to be going against
Captain Bagman’s wishes, but she supposed she shouldn’t be acting out in this manner and she’d gotten what she deserved.
“Hope your vision gets better before Euro Cup,” Scarlett snipped, stepping over the mess on the floor (she was not going to clean up
that) to pass him. Though, she hoped his peripheral vision remained faulty past their match this upcoming Friday. That would be beneficial.
Seth blinked as she jabbed her wand in his chest, worried for half a second she was going to hex him. And then she didn’t and his shirt was clean, and well that was not at all the reaction he was expecting. “Thank you,” he said inspecting his shirt. Noticing the pastry that was now wasted on the floor Seth turned to follow quickly behind her.
“Well, I hope it doesn’t take
that long. One time occurrence, I’m sure,” he offered, hoping it didn’t sound as forced as it felt. No need for the keeper of an opposing team to know that it was a legitimate concern at this exact moment in time.
“Let me at least replace your pastry. It was my fault it ended up on the floor after all.”
Scarlett stopped short, twisting only slightly to give Seth a look out of the corner of her eye. This trip had only been to antagonize Bagman, she didn’t really
care about the danishes. Plus, if he replaced them, she might be tempted to eat them herself. Her nearly empty calorie diet of protein potions and energy biscuits, even more extreme than Bagman required (but she’d never give him the pleasure of knowing she was following his orders), could be compromised and Scarlett
shouldn’t risk that. That bloody trainer didn’t know
what he was talking about; she was flying much faster and sharper now that she’d decided on her own routine. The five pounds she’d lost since the end of the regular season had done wonders so far.
Maybe she should lay off the pastries...but Seth certainly
did owe her for the money she’d spent.
“All right,” she said, turning on a heel. Scarlett looked expectantly up at Seth, lips in a thin, impassive line. He was doing more than fixing the mess he’d created, and that was all she’d take it for.
Seth offered her a small smile before walking over to counter. He looked over his shoulder at her for a second before turning to order a coffee for himself and two danishes, because it honestly looked good so why not have one for himself. He stole another glance at Scarlett before going out on a limb and ordering her a tea as well. She didn't have a drink before but it was cold out and it couldn't hurt to have a hot beverage. And he got the impression that she wasn't one for putting up with a lot of caffeine.
He leaned on the counter as he waited for the barista to make his order. He weighed his options, with the recent tattler that already had pointed out Gudgeon eating lunch with Arista it probably wouldn't be wise to ask Scarlett if she wanted to grab a table. Besides he was apparently already seeing Wendy and he would hate to fake cheat on his fake girlfriend.
He passed over one of the danishes and the tea to her with a smile. "So are you heading to or coming from practice? " he asked politely. "Ready for us on Friday?"
