POSTED FOR SATURDAY~ Sinners & Saints Ghost Train!

As the country side rushed by outside the window, Dianna could feel her pride grow with each passing second. She wasn't one to admit that she bragged about her achievements, but it would be a lie to think that she was not going to be boasting at how overwhelmingly amazing this event had turned out to be. The turn out had been far more than anticipated, the musicians that varied through every other cart were fantastic and livening up the mood---there were even ghosts of old conductors and passengers floating through the carts and having the time of their after-lives scaring the guests.

It was to be a fun, fantastic, frightful night. Dianna was beside herself with excitement, and she tugged her skirt down a bit and went on a search for a friendly face to interact with. Merlin, she'd really out done herself this time, she thought amusing as a cart-wide sized cobweb magically unspun to let her pass.

Dianna flipped a golden curl over her shoulder, smirking greatly. She was so brilliant.

Elsie had never been one for parties. She had never truly been a social person, so living in the little bubble necessitated by Elliot had never impinged upon any social tendencies. Elsie had actually been quite surprised to see the train tickets, but then, they did get rather sentimental around Halloween. They'd made quite a similar picture three years ago, which was just about the last time she could remember doing this.

But it had been a very heavy year and a half, and things had been going so well for them. Today, she felt… light. Yes, that was the word, she felt light, and they deserved one night, after the years they had had. So they had dressed up, had drinks, talked to old friends…

Just waving off a classmate, she beamed with surprise when she felt Elliot. She turned to better put her arms around him and stumbled slightly on the long trail of golden hair that had wound itself around one of her ankles. "Whoops!" she let out, bracing herself on Elliot. Trying to gracefully detangle herself, which was a bit of a challenge given the costume and her slight inebriation, she bit her lip. "I think I overestimated the brilliance of this costume." She looked extremely guilty and lowered her voice, saying, "I tripped a mummy and accidentally broke someone's beak in less than two minutes."

Winding her arms around him, without incidence this time, she smiled quite dreamily. "But slight accidents and some threats to scalp me aside, yes." She raised herself on tip-toe to kiss him. "I am. Are you?"

"Who dares threaten the fair maiden?" Elliot said in his best 'princely' voice. He stepped back from Elsie, swiftly dropping his bottle on a passing tray. His sword did not unsheath as smoothly as he had imagined it would, but it did the trick. Elliot flipped the handle from hand to hand, eyes bright. "Bring them forth, and I shall slay them at your feet, milady."

Whoa, that took a bit out of him. Feeling thoroughly embarrassed, Elliot's face burnt a deep red and he slid his sword back into its holder. He had promised himself that he would have fun tonight and let his inhibitions take a break for the night. Elsie was having a good time, and so could he! They should be able to have a night like this, especially with their anniversary just passing, especially with the campaign, with their baby girl and---everything.

As--as miserable as Elliot still found himself some days because of his condition, they were becoming fewer and the time between them was increasing. He had other things to focus on, he had a job he enjoyed, Liam was a little person now that he could talk to, Elysia was learning something new every day, and Elsie's bright light had never faded on him.

He could deal with a little Halloween magic.

"How was that?" he asked, still feeling hot.

She answered him in a positive volley of kisses, each growing progressively more heated until she started to feel the slightest bit faint.

"I didn't know you could do that," she said finally, sounding slightly awed amidst the breathlessness. Elliot wasn't one for—well, anything in the category of the flighty, fanciful, or pretence, and Elsie often felt that no matter how dark matters got, that was where she lived the most. Watching even the suggestion of that kind of spark in him—well, it made her do things like that!

Though it was fueled in part by the liquor, she had to admit. It would be wisest for Elsie to refrain from it at all, as one drink was enough to make her lose her head. But being that it was her very first since Elysia, and the atmosphere was so jovial and a bit adventurous, she couldn't resist, and the result was that she was now plastered to her husband after having rather aggressively manhandled him in public.

Blushing, although nowhere near as fiercely as she would be without the crutch of a fruity drink, she slid back down on her heels and began to unlace her fingers from behind his neck. "I suppose," Elsie cleared her throat, "you'll have to be careful about how you wield that in future…"

That was clearly a euphemism and she was being horrendously filthy. Elliot felt his entire body heat up at Elsie's words and then at his own thoughts. Why was he assuming that his wife was comparing his literal sword to---she had just tackled him and kissed quick excitedly. It was not his fault that his mind had jumped to those conclusions and straight into the gutter.

He didn't particularly mind this situation, and Elliot was sure that the few drinks he'd had had made it quite easily to accept the public displays of affection and the cheerful, happy atmosphere.

His hand went to the small of Elsie's back, holding her close to him before she could move too far away. It had been a long time since he and his wife had done anything stupid, and certainly Halloween was the right time to fix something like that, yeah?

"If we could find somewhere to be alone," Elliot said, pushing himself against his wife, "I could properly show you how its done."

Her eyes widened in amused anticipation. They were not a publicly demonstrative pairing. In fact, Elsie would have to say they were hardly a demonstrative couple at all, though they did have their, ah, moments. But the magic of the night, both literally and figuratively, was proving much too hard to resist for them. Dressed up in costumes as they were, it was so much easier to think they truly could be the prince and princess in a storybook land that always ended in happily-ever-afters.

Even if the prince was blinded by falling into a thorny bush, she thought, remembering the ending of the fairytale ruefully. But what was Halloween, if not the slightest bit macabre?

"Could you?" she practically purred, which was not wholly princess-like of her. Or perhaps it was, as Rapunzel certainly got up to enough mischief with the prince to have his twins. "I do think," said Elsie, dancing her fingers along the snaps of his waistcoat, "that I saw an empty alcove between the carriage with the torture rack and the one with the Forbidden Forest."

His breaths were heavy, with excitement at the prospect of doing something mischievous and with anxiety at the thought of getting caught doing----anything. Elliot had always been flustered by Elsie, for as long as he could remember she would make his chest twist even if in school he'd thought it was of annoyance at how seemingly perfect she was. There were days, especially with their current situation, that Elliot had to take a breath and remember to accept the truth that Elsie loved him, no matter how hard it was to believe some days.

"I could," he responded, deciding not to waste any more time. His heart was beating rapidly and Elliot felt that his face had already taken on a nervous, almost guilty-like expression. But the red of his ears proved that he was ready and willing to go forth. "Lead the way, Princess."

Elliot bowed cordially to Elsie, lifting his head for a moment to smile widely. He was definitely going to do his absolute best to keep up this fairy tale act, he wanted to have fun, he wanted to make Elsie happy. He also wanted to get under that pretty dress of hers, which helped ebb his nerves.

She had difficulty taking in her next breath, as her lungs seemed to contract rather painfully. Love could be so wonderful that it hurt at times, but she wouldn't have traded it for anything. When was the last time they had done something like this—anything like this? To let themselves forget about everything bad and dark and heavy in their lives, and just indulge in the fantasy of something normal. Elsie found she couldn't recall, but wasn't it all the more reason they should soak up every precious, carefree second this night had to offer?

After quickly shortening her costume's hair to a more manageable length, so as to avoid another accident and ruin the atmosphere, she could not quite resist tugging his face towards hers when she passed him, and kissing him. Once more. Entirely too thoroughly. Only to release him with a smile that was very nearly a smirk. There was no doubting that his usual, somewhat grouchy self had an allure all its own, but she didn't think she could be truly faulted for taking as much advantage of this publicly amenable persona as possible. She had just told herself it was all in the spirit of a fun night, hadn't she?

"Well, in that case, my lord," Elsie said, turning to face him and nimbly managing a curtsy. Taking one of his hands into her own, she pulled him along their desired route, slipping easily amidst the crowding bodies of their fellow passengers though her back was to them. "I believe an adventure is waiting."
