Axe's Anniversary of Birth!!!!
Charlie was pretty sure he'd missed out on a wonderful career as a party planner. As he stared out at the dance floor, which he stood over on a platform where the DJ was spinning a mix of wizard and muggle music (even with some popular French songs that were actually pretty catchy if Charlie said so himself). He wasn't surprised at how many people showed up, but it still nearly startling to see how bloody happy everyone was to be there! Sure, some looked ridiculous with the fake mustaches that were passed out (not required, obviously), but a lot had actually grown out their beards and it was----cool, they tried, they wanted to be there and they wanted to have a good time. Charlie wanted to have a good time.

The Kestrels were not top of the pack, and while he believed in his team completely, the stress of the numbers had been getting to them. A night like this was necessary, and maybe it could rejuvenate the team that had lost some valuable members this season and had done a bit of shifting around. They were still trying to get themselves into place, and it needed to happen faster than it was.

Plus, Axe had been pissy all week that no one had acknowledged the anniversary of his birth.

Charlie grabbed the mic from the DJ and grinned, enjoying colorful scene laid out in front of him. funkybuddha club had been a perfect choice for the night, "Don't everyone tire themselves out! There's still a lot more festivites to look forward to!"

Oh dear. Nora couldn't help but wince, gritting her teeth with a hiss at the announcement of Octavius and Rose's separation. Break up. If she had heard this news through the grapevine, Nora would have found it easy to jump for joy in the privacy of her bedroom, but seeing her friend so absolutely miserable with the situation made her feel terrible. What could they have possibly broken up over? Nora was eager to find out the reasons behind this terrible split, but she thought better of it. In Octavius' very fragile state, bringing up the reasons that sent him falling to the floor, pissed out of his mind, was probably not the best of solutions.

She pursed her lips. Welp. Nora had been in this situation plenty of times, funnily enough. Delilah's breakups were always followed by week-long depressions or month long celebrations. Jasper and Kate had broken up a thousand times before they finally tied the knot, and Nora? Well, she'd been dumped enough times to know exactly what a person needed to hear so that they didn't feel like they were the gunk that you scraped off the bottom of a rubbish bin.

"I'm not going anywhere," Nora said, ignoring the bit about Rose and the breakup. That wasn't necessary to focus on, especially when emotions were heightened. Nora put a hand on his arm, ready to start pulling Octavius out from under the table. She smiled widely, and shrugged, "I rather like goats!"

"He likes you," Octavius said, both sounding and feeling absurdly pleased with the symmetry of the situation. "He's very choosy. Actually," his eyebrows drew together in a frown, "he likes Charlie the best." His tone grew dejected as he considered that. "I don't understand it m'self, but…" he turned to the side, and noticed for the first time he was talking to empty air. "Nora?" He started the herculean effort of raising himself with his elbow when he felt something take a firm grip around one of his ankles and give it a good yank. "I don't—oof!"

He knocked his wrist against a chair leg in his initial flail, then an elbow. "Ow," he muttered, just when his head thumped against a table leg. "Ow! Nora—!"

By the time his liquor-addled brain was able to formulate the specifics of what he wanted to call her, he'd cleared the table cloth (and gotten a mouthful of it in his sputterings) and winced at the comparatively bright light that illuminated the rest of the room, as in, the portion not included under the table.

Raising himself to a sitting position with his knees up (a position he was certain he only managed because a table leg was his support), he squinted one eye at his unlaced shoe and took in the mis-matching socks. Octavius would ordinarily call that a daily occurrence, but he knew today it was a symptom of a confused and angry head. Not a drunk one, though, that had started only a few hours ago. He was quite certain. At the moment, it really felt as if he'd never been sober in his life, so he was not a very good judge.

"Thanks. For—" he waved one hand vaguely behind them at the space under the table,"and for talking to me," he mumbled only a little gloomily, staring hard at Nora's ankles.

He was a lot heavier than Delilah. Nora was out of breath by the time she'd heaved Octavius out from under the table, and stood over him with her hands on her hips. He looked so miserable and pitiful. She felt terrible for him but didn't want him to know. During a breakup, sometimes the worst part was telling your friends and dealing with people who knew exactly what was going on. Nora could play nice, especially with Octavius.

She bent down again, smiling tightly at him and putting her hand to his shoulder.

"You're one of my best mates," Nora said, shaking her head, leaving it at that. She pushed forward and kissed the top of his head, her hand going to the back of his neck in a comforting manner. There was no way she could have left him under there, or judged him, or even teased. She'd been in far worse messes and Octavius still deemed her acceptable to talk to. Nora sighed, wondering if she'd be able to get him on his feet now. "Let's get you standing, okay?"

It took a few tries, but finally they were both on their feet. Leaning heavily on the opposite wall, Nora summoned her purse from across the room and held on tightly to Octavius' arm.

"Try not to get sick," she said, a moment before she disapparated the both of them out of the club. A second later they were in her flat, startling her jarvery Kenneth who had been asleep on the couch.

"BLOODY HELL, YOU IDIOTS!" the jarvey shouted, popping his head up over the arm of the couch. Nora shushed him while she made sure all of Octavius' parts had come along for the ride.

He tried his best to follow Nora's edict, and though there was a bad moment between the squeezing around his middle and its sudden release, Octavius thought everything was going to stay in him. Presently, he was too drunk to worry about leaving his legs behind, but in the morning, hung-over-but-sober Octavius would surely appreciate her taking that extra step.

It was redundant to say so again, but he did anyway. "Thank you," he sighed, sounding much more sober than he felt. He clapped a hand on her shoulder as he walked, or rather staggered, over to her sofa, just narrowly missing sitting on Kenneth, who went on a healthy diatribe questioning Octavius's lineage. At the moment, if he'd been paying close attention to it and the words weren't running all together, he would probably agree. Octavius couldn't actually remember the last break up that had felt so… broken up. Well, there was Crazy Elsie, who he was happy to get rid of, and Rose the first time… well, they'd split very amicably. Sorcha hadn't given him time to feel broken up with, she'd just told him she'd met someone else and he should continue to try to have a nice life. This feeling was… well, if he was being honest, the sorrow hadn't set in yet. Mostly, he felt anger and frustration, and now he just felt like a sad, morose drunk. Which he was. Octavius winced and made a mental note to apologize profusely to Nora in the morning.

Ignoring the jarvey (though he drunkenly began trying to stroke his head), he leaned heavily onto the sofa arm, attempting to prop his head up with his other hand. "I think I really didn't want to be alone tonight."
