End of Season party! For the 3rd

Drystan did not usually consider himself a sore loser. He had experienced enough defeats in his career to understand that winning was sometimes as much luck as it was skill—the latter of which he had plenty, the former he was starting to doubt he had any. He would even go so far as to say this was one of the top seasons he'd ever played. Losing the Cup might not be such a hardship, in that light. But to lose to the team he considered the most unsportsmanlike in the League was just an insult to injury. To have lost to them for the third time in the season was, in his perfectly reasonable and justified opinion, grounds for murder.

But a lifetime sentence in Azkaban would leave behind a wife and three children who would likely be just fine without him, but he'd miss them. So mass murder was off the table for tonight, at the very least.

Press snapped pictures outside the admittedly-abandoned looking building of 23 High Street, and Drystan knew there were more inside. Entering the rundown lobby, by-passing the elevator with the out-of-order sign, they made their way up the long flight of stairs to the grand doors of the first floor landing and into the—holy Mer—

Of course, the invitation specified formal wear, but Drystan hadn't honestly been expecting a high-brow formal occasion from the Kestrels. It was a ballroom. There was emerald green positively everywhere. There was something that looked suspiciously like a string ensemble. A bar, where he fancied he would spend as much time as possible, was in the corner. Platters with hors d'oeuvres and glass flutes zoomed by. Having stopped moving, wearing a stupefied expression, Bess had to tug his arm to get him to continue his stride.

"Hell," he muttered, pulling a grim face at the ostentatious yet somehow tasteful décor. Lifting their linked hands, he kissed the back of hers while surveying the spectacle before him.

"Five minutes? Five minutes isn't too soon."

ooc: Quidditch players/personnel + their guests! BLACK TIE! Party is on the first floor in this cool but creepy rundown building. Have fun! :D

"Excellent!"

Gleny had always been a tiny bottle of blonde fun, for as long as Vinny could remember. He knew the last few years had been rough for her, but they wouldn't let him forget how happy their time at Hogwarts had been, and how deep their friendship really was. She really did know everything about him, from his second year at school when he was sure she only paid attention to him because he was older and she thought he was cute. That had never been a problem, and Vinny had always been able to rely on Gleny for anything and he hoped she felt the same way about him.

He dropped down into the seat beside her, letting out a loud, happy sigh. He'd really needed a night like this, and picked up his glass swiftly to top off his drink before the waiter he saw walking towards them came by. Vinny was drunk, but he wasn't going to look like trash; he couldn't be caught with a drink in both hands, if one wasn't for Gleny!

His attempt to completely devour his glass went astray, however, as most of it was dribbled down his front. Vinny gulped down what he did manage to get into his mouth, and stood up quickly. "Oops!"

Vinny looked sheepish as he caught Gleny's eye. He reached for a napkin and began to rub the mess, "Never been very good at cleaning spells---I'll end up banishing my arm off if I even try!"

Where had the rest of her drink gone? Gleny cocked an almost pathetic look down at the now almost-empty glass, truly sad her pink, drinkable fun was close to ending. How else were they going to have fun? You needed drinks that tasted like fun to have fun, everyone knew that.

WAS IT ON HER DRESS? In a fleeting moment she looked down at her front in a panic. Her beautiful, luminous dress that made her feel so pretty it almost made her want to cry at how pretty she actually felt in it, it was magical, beyond magical to the point where-- oh it was fine.

"Phew," she sighed, placing her glass on the table as carefully as possible. That--- none of that business thank you very much. Wait--- she jerked her head toward Vinny. Him instead?! Oh great Merlin god! "Your fancy attire!" she cried, her hands going up in the air. This was horrible! How were they going to look like the fabulous people that they were with stains?

"I know cleaning spells!" she blurted, her eyes lighting up again. She could--- yes! Gleny shot up from her seat, knowing exactly what needed to be done to save this catastrophe. "To the men's loo!" she said, pointing toward the general direction of the bathrooms with one hand while grabbing Vinny's with the other. Practically skipping forward, she tugged Vinny along, giggling as they went.

He allowed her to tug him along because there was really nothing in his mind asking him to put a stop to this. It took a lot for Vinny to get drunk, inebriated, pissed, but his teammates had made sure that he would be with all the good-luck shots they were sending his way, and all the cheers. It was amazing he'd made it this far into the night without having spilled his drink all over himself, and Vinny was just glad that he hadn't covered Gleny in the drink.

The men's loo! He knew where that was...he thought. Maybe he didn't, because there were a few instances where he made to turn right but Gleny pulled him left. He supposed he should follow her, as he was the one in the disastrous situation. He could not be seen in such a state; Vinny could definitely play off drunk as extremely happy, but not with a big stain on the front of his suit!

The bright lights of the bathroom made him squint, and he was positioned against the sink as Gleny went to work. His jacket was thrown to the side, his shirt pulled open and he was commanded into holding out the shirt so that she could get a good angle. It was hard to stay still, though, as her fingers tickled.

"You're tickling me," he said in a hushed tone, leaning forward and lightly butting his head with Gleny's.

She had forgotten her wand, how silly was that?! How were you supposed to do cleaning spells with no magic! Luckily, Gleny had been taught in the ways of muggle cleaning by her boarding school roommate. It was wonderful, you just--- put water on the fabric and then, voila! Like magic! Just a bit of methodical rubbing was necessary and---

What a hysterical phrase! It always made her want to laugh. Like magic, like magic.... they were magic! See, that's why it was so hilarious! Like magic, like them?! Gleny began to chortle at her own musings, only paying attention back to Vinny when she felt a light weight rest against her head. Oh?

"Sorry," she snickered quietly, stopping what she was doing. A small, content smile formed on her face as her shoulders rose to her ears. Vinny was so nice, so warm, so understanding-- why couldn't she feel like this all the time? Only Vinny made her comfortable enough to function properly and, and-- it was sad it made her sad! That was all she was, sad, sad, sad, sad, sad! Gleny pressed both her hands firmly flat on his chest, trying her best to fix a focused gaze on them. Which was hard when it felt like you weren't really in control of your feet! She just--- wanted--- to feel--- normal again. And close with people! Intimate--- or-- or-- anything!

Before the thought had even fully formed, Gleny acted; she pushed up onto her toes to commence what started as a soft, tentative kiss that quickly turned into an intense snog. She didn't think, she just--- did.

This wasn't what he'd been expecting from tonight. This was not anywhere near his idea of a last hoorah, this was the last thing he had ever thought he'd be doing because this was Gleny. This was his Gleny, the best friend he had outside of Derek, sometimes even closer than Derek---this was Gleny, the one he'd gone to at Hogwarts when he worried about girls, this was Gleny, the first person he really got to talk to about the Order of the Phoenix----this was Gleny, who comforted him after Marlie was killed and was the only one he painfully missed during his long year in Canada. This was---

He couldn't keep his thoughts straight.

Vinny's hands crept around her waist and pressed hard against her back, pulling Gleny as close to him as possible. Her lips tasted like strawberries, her skin was so smooth to the touch. He'd always thought Gleny was pretty, beautiful even, but kissing her had never---that was a lie, he'd fancied her terribly in school for some time but didn't want to ruin their friendship, and he'd never thought that she would see him as anything---they were drunk, they were very drunk, and some voice in his head knew that, but it wasn't strong enough to pull away from her or keep himself from kissing her.

If they stopped this would be over and he wasn't ready for it to be over because it was the first true and honest thing he'd felt in years.

Ohh Merlin she enjoyed snogging. And touching. And pushing--- the tug of another on you--- she couldn't even begin to describe-- a content sigh escaped her as Gleny felt her Vinny's grip on her on tighten. She stumbled, slightly, adjusting to this new force, but not enough to disconnect her lips from his. Oh no no, nothing in the world could stop her, she was-- it was-- she just couldn't.

Vinny was so nice, Vinny was so understanding, he knew, he knew--- her thoughts ceased to be fully-formed, and just random phrases or words that Gleny idly and vaguely registered. It wasn't--- important, none of it was important except feeling this she had never so badly wanted to feel something---

Feeling as if her hands had become stuck between them, Gleny threw one of her arms up around his neck. Just-- to get--- a little-- closer--- but she kept one had firmly on his chest, enjoying the warm feel of his bare skin on her palm too much to move it. Where-- how--- she pushed her mouth harder against his, chest leaning heavily into his as a feeling of shaky, uninhibited delight began to creep through her, from the tips of her fingers to her toes. Merlin, Merlin, Merlin--- how had she never realized how good of a kisser he would be?
