NEW YEAR'S EVE POST
It felt good to be the host of the party, and not the one creating a scene and making an entrance. Though Charlie would never admit it, the therapy sessions with Healer Bonaccord had...well, he still wasn't happy with everything going on in his life, but it had given him an outlet other than the bar, and that was allowing him let out the pent up stress he'd been bottling in. It was hard to figure things out by yourself, and for someone whose ego was as fragile as his, Charlie was slowly realizing that he needed a complete stranger to release his anxieties.

Of course, he wouldn't feel like he'd completely found peace until he managed to get her in the sack, but that was just a personal goal of his.

At any rate, Charlie was finding that being the host was interesting. Everyone knew you were going to be there, so there wasn't a great surprise when they saw you, but after those greetings were done they were off to see who else had shown up. It looked like a good outcome, but Charlie felt a bit slighted as it was pretty deep into the night and a certain invitee had not appeared in the crowd. With a breath he pushed the door open to the balcony and stepped out into the cool December night.

He stuck his hands into his pockets, spotting some displays of fireworks over the tops of the surrounding buildings. Charlie grinned at the early celebrations and let his shoulder sag.

ooc: guests = quidditch related people + their guest?

"Thank you," Mira said, taking the glass steadily from Victoria before downing half of it with one gulp. This hasty step toward drunkenness was necessary for her to survive this night pain free, she had decided early on. It would only be a matter of time before Seth appeared, no doubt creating a scene she had no desire remembering. So, her goal was to become so drunk she didn't remember anything, or enough to not care about anything that was going on.

It was a good plan. Just like how she had decided to wear the shortest and smallest dress she had been able to get her hands on for the night. And coming with Victoria. All good decisions made.

Furthermore, there was nothing left for her to do sober. The only thing Mira had wanted to do was say hello to Charlie and thank him for the other night--- it had been surprisingly nice to just catch up and talk --- and she had done that already, so.... so yes, she would not feel bad at all for enjoying herself in public. At a quidditch party.

Shaking her head, Mira put on a small smile for her friend. "Have you seen our less-than-desirables yet?" she asked, genuinely curious.

She'd warned her brother that he was probably going to have to carry either one or both of them home, depending on how the evening went -- which Scott had been surprisingly fine with, since she'd gone through the trouble to make sure that Ava had a babysitter so he wouldn't have to miss the party with his new girlfriend. Victoria smirked, taking a slow drink of her own champagne.

"Not so far," she admitted, frowning. She'd actually been -- hoping to see Vinny here, just to have some confirmation that he wasn't just being a sad sack at home or anything like that ... but it appeared that just wasn't to be the case. She shrugged.

"Have you seen anyone cute? Well, cute and available."

That was good news, wasn't it? No sign of Seth. Nothing to ruin her night of drinking. That should be pleasing to her ears, recognition that he very well was not going to randomly appear out of the shadows at any moment. But despite not wanting to see Seth at all, a part of her did at the same time. She couldn't explain why, she knew how horrible he had been and things had changed because of that, but--- a small piece of her ached to see him. Here, anywhere... most preferably a public place were she would be less inclined to do something stupid.

It was just her yearn to publicly humiliate him further than she already had--- that was the root of all these confusing feelings. Yes, that was it. She just had to keep telling herself that and she would be fine. It completely made sense.

"I haven't been looking," Mira replied, tapping out of her thoughts and back into the real world. The last thing she was thinking about were the prospects of available men in their vicinity, let alone on a search for them. Shrugging her shoulders, she placed her chin on her shoulder to look out at the crowd. Maybe Victoria was more ready, and meant for herself.

"He's cute," she pointed with her chin toward what was no doubtably a quidditch player. How was it that they all were ridiculously good looking, body and face?

"As long as their face isn't a lost cause, their bodies just kind of follow along," she observed, presumably following the same train of thought as Mira was. "It isn't fair, really," she tapped her finger on the edge of her glass, taking a sip of her drink after she did so, "If we girls get too muscular, they start calling us over-pumped trolls."

Not fair at all in her opinion. It meant that the girls had to figure out alternative ways to be good at their sport.
