Eliza closed the door behind her after the intern left, swiftly turning the lock to secure their alone time.
"Don't get up," she said quickly as she turned back, putting out a hand. Speaking quickly was about the only thing she could with a bit of speed these days, and Eliza tried her best not to waddle when she came towards Dedalus on cot. Eliza put out her hand for some help sitting down, and once she was resting on the edge of the bed (forcing herself not to notice how much it sank with her weight), she propped her bag up beside her and opened it.
She twisted a bit and smiled down at her husband, wanting to lean forward a bit more to give him a kiss, but knowing she would not be able to get back up if she did. They would have time for kissing later. Eliza continued to dig through her bag, which was charmed by her very smart husband to be as light as a feather but could carry their entire flat. Tonight, it was only carrying a portion of it.
"Eric is with the Slopers---Brianna was insisting on a baby sleepover to see how well she could handle two children," Eliza began to explain as she pulled out pillow with what would be a very familiar cover to Dedalus. Next came out another pillow, whose cover matched the first, and she handed him one, "And as I could not refuse a pregnant woman, I decided to take advantage of the night."
Her smile grew wider as she started to pull out a very comfy, warm quilt, straight from their bed set. Eliza knew Dedalus would not be up for going out at this time, and in all honesty even with her nap she was still tired, so why not just have the sleep she wanted with her husband...with her husband? The hospital was their second home, anyway.
"Lie back down," she said as she kicked off her shoes. Eliza had become very good at multitasking since she'd become a mother, and flapped open their quilt the best she could over her husband's already lying form.
